Re: Embley gone?

Great Stuff Q, i know people say this time and time again, but especially in light of the splendid news we heard about Bradley the other week, I thought Embers had now gone down as well.
This absolutely shell shocked me as i first saw it mate!

Unfortunately when you bump a thread from the ancient past, you can't rename it.
I thought it was strange that there were 81 replies about Michael Embley getting injured in the intra-club match only a few hours ago.

Agreed.

I would place Jones in the "untradeable" list. Chambers may be worth holding onto, he has shown some glimpses of what he can be.

Williams I hate to see go, but does not seem to fit in our best 22 lately and along with Embers could be used to bring in players of a higher quality.

Got it right with Jones.

Chambers and Williams makes me feel like an idiot. :)

Still, if you ever read this Embers, just know we all love you....again. :)

Yes... supporters tend to jump down a players throat too quickly.. especially a young player...

Speaking of which...a mate of mine was over a certain Eagles forward kicking coach's house last night having a chat over a beer... Of course the convo turned to how the lads were going... he basically said 2006 is THE year.... having only just come to the Eagles this year... he was in raptures over the quality of the young kids the Eagles have.... and singled out Andrew McDougall rating him the best of the lot.... said he could literally be anything... and couldnt stop talking about how good he is going to be. It reminded me of how Jakovich called McDougall a more mobile version of Justin Koscitzke a few years back.

The coaching staff basically has the same opinion of McDougall and it shouldnt be lost that he has played only just over 30 games for the club in his life. The coaching staff really do rate him as a player..... thats why it saddens me that people get on his back and say this is a make or break year for him. Quite crap. He still has 4 years to go before he plays to his potential... and will be interesting to see in a few years time the same thread as this one pop up in the "I told you so" category.

It's one thing to look great at training, but a different world to produce great peformances during the season week in and out.

All the potential in the world is useless if it isn't harnessed properly.

Total Package, if thats all true, and we think McDougall is the best thing since sliced bread, (or at least Suma's sliced Tip Top), then why did we draft Brad Smith?

I guess for the same reason that people have been saying for the last few months that we need a tall defensive player who can cover at full back in case Glass gets injured. For back up and to provide depth of options. I wouldnt think that anyone (well eagles fans) underrates the value of Glass to our team however.

Because McDougall is not a full forward. Is Riewoldt/Ko********zcke a Full Forward? They can play there sure.. but its not their best position.... and its not McDougalls best position either... they are just trying to turn him into one because of a lack of other options. Brad Smith could have been that option. McDougall would be a 10 times better CHF.
