I don’t see anyone in our squad wallowing let alone Vlaustin

Trading for draft capital is important but not at the cost of the fabric of the club. We’ve lost enough heart and soul players last year (Baker) and without Vlaustin our backline falls apart — 100 point hidings on a regular basis. We don’t want to become Norf
I do not know what you are talking or writing about.

performance wise our efforts have wallowed from the top in 2020 to the bottom in 2024. our ladder position is a independentt assessment of our wallowing versus the opposition is it not??? are you in denial???

now heart and soul adjectives are BS tags for woke addicts. who says one person is more heart and soul than another??? some need to take both hands off it!!!

draft capital is the heart and soul of the club. Dusty won us premierships, he was pick 2 or 3. Are you saying Dusty was not heart and soul? Cotch was pick 2. Cotch was captain but was he not heart and soul???

if our backline falls apart without Vlastuin what are you saying about our backline?? its rubbish??

if who we draft are rubbish why are we going to the draft in the first place??

Lids was pick 1. If Lids did not leave would we have won in 2017??? Should Lids have got a medal in 2017 for leaving?? I still regard Lids as a RFC player, sorry. Some might think Lids was not heart and soul, I do not know. But he left and our team played better in 2017 so there was a effect and we won in 2017 so in some way he made a contribution, no one can deny that

when Lalor and Smillie and others where drafted high some of the rationale and argument behind their high draft selections and not trading down was leadership was it not?? are you saying Smillie and Lalor will not be heart and soul as high draft picks? Are you saying our draft 2024 in take and those we draft this year in 2025 will have no heart and soul???

he is another thing, next year most of the key part of our team for our future premierships(if we are lucky) will be twenty and younger. If Vlastuin is very high heart and soul, he is over thirty, how does that work with the youngsters that are on the critical path to our next premierships??

I cannot speak for Vlastuin, but I know of others in other clubs that find it harder to relate naturally with the younger ones simply because they are older with different interests like having kids etc.. versus the younger ones still exploring life and not coming through at the same time, If Vlastuin is older and high on heart and soul, is he being supported on how to rub off heart and soul to the youngsters when he has other interest is separate to the youngsters being younger or do others in the club offer more to the youngsters because they simply are younger and can relate to them more??

didn’t bother to read but good for you for having a strong opinion

I could quote players names but I will not for valid confidentiality reasons

how is team fabric any good if heart and soul varies so much from player to player as you seem to infer???

I reckon if you said to Luke Trainor he lacks in heart and soul, he would probably hit you in the chops, and if I witnessed it, I probably wouldn't raise a finger

should be gone.....
Ryan...
Hopper...low footy IQ and stat clogger (15 1 mtr handballs). trade to anywhere but here.
Ross... not anywhere near his early best, thought he was he was going to be a gun.
Prestia. (coaching option) free up some space . had his time in the sun and glad for it.
Lynch (coaching option) free up some space .had his time in the sun and glad for it.

Kinds need more time.

Short **** off
Kmac retire
Dow trade to amateur b grade
Ryan traded to amateur c grade
Smith and Blight to eagles for any pick they are stupid enough to give us
Prestia retire
Lynch retire
Balta trade to anyone for anything
Sonsie - bugger off

both good today. gc kicked 15 and we shoulda kicked at least 6....... injuries, tired youngsters and umps (and us) allowing anderson and rowell to hang on to the footy for an eternity while being tackled....it aint the end of the world.
you kidding? both good. geez don’t know what game you were watching

saw same game as you. macca 68% game time. short&macca 37 odd touches combined, at well over 80% efficiency, macca eq 2nd in ins 50s, 750m gained between the 2. no feeble efforts from either, both solid enough when many were down.

short was a momentum killer. cost at least 3 goals with poor skills undisciplined acts. lazy coat hanger which resulted in free and goal, brilliant intercept on the grand stand side handballed to hoppers feet which got swept away for a goal, had time and space missed a 20m kick that once again got swept away for a goal. massive liability in defence. They went through his man a lot (Dimma tactic)

The definition of an effective disposal leaves a lot to be desired.

McIntosh runs around at old
Man pace with both arms in the air, guarding dead space most of the time he’s on the ground.
Watch live and you will see him trailing behind and not able to keep pace anymore. His time is up.

Short was not great and I don’t care what stats you want to throw up. He has been ok in recent times but this game was not good for him.

Starting to worry that the 2021 draft lot is average or even a fail. Still worried about Banks and Brown ceiling. Clarke probably can’t ever live up to his potential and Gibcus maybe same given injuries to date. Sonsie looks about Jake Batchelor level at best. Need to trade them all now for 5 second rounders

Banks - one of the hardest things to be in football is a half back distributor when you have no movement in front of you. You can be the best kick in AFL history, but if you don't have the fwds or mids in front of you making movement, there's only so much you can do. Banks has shown he can get plenty of the ball, and able to gain a lot of metres with it. His next step will be to make those penetrating kicks off half back or on the wing, but I'm not sure we can judge that with our current fwd setup.

Brown - my guess is that there is at least two players in front of Brown in terms of his best position, those being Broad and Vlastuin. I think we've seen Brown can be a great interceptor, but when you have those veterans in front of you, you're going to need to take a backseat to them.

Sonsie - probably the hardest one to judge now, given his past 3 weeks of football. When he's given time and space, he has looked composed and offered a lot more ball in hand compared to others, but how he looks when we have all players available will be interesting. There's definitely a position for him in the team if he wants it enough though, imo.

Gibcus is a wait and see, because you don't just give up on talent like that.

If we can rookie list Clarke, I'm all for it. I think there's other players I would look to delist/trade away before we get to him.

Senior-listed players out of contract: Dow, Kosi, Lynch, KMac, Smith, Sonsie, Young.

We'd need to delist at least three, given Campbell's elevation. Plus one for every player we trade in.

You'd think Kozi and Smith would be done.

You'd think Young and Gray would get new deals.

We probably have a decent exodus of rookies - Bauer, Colina, one or both of Blight and OHB.

KMac and Lynch maybe get another year,
Dow and Sonsie maybe get another year, or maybe rookie-listed.

Can't imagine we will be too drastic this year.

Kozi contracted next year

KMac another year, surely you just.

He is beyond cooked, burnt offerings is where he's at.

Brisbane Lions set the benchmark for recruitment and player development.
Hopefully we can poach one or two when the opportunity arises.
Morris, 31 in the draft, only 20.
Smith, 48 in the draft, only 22.
