I see lots of parallels between Hawthorn circa 2020-22 to you guys now.
Having so much success over a long period means there will invariably be a drop off afterwards for starters.

However what I've noticed most is Dimma almost copied Clarko in the high cost recruitment of two ready made mids in the hope of snagging one more flag.

It didn't work for us either.

When we finally traded them out for peanuts it was painful to see all the draft picks and $$$ go down the drain but I think it was the turning point to getting back on the path to success.

My question is how would you guys feel about doing the same with Taranto and Hopper?

I don’t think any of us would lose sleep over trading Taranto and Hopper. We just need to do that for the right price. Taranto still has value IMO given he’s a proven forward.

Our midfield is totally out of whack with both of them together, so I'd be quite happy to offload one (preferably Hopper) and keep the other to protect the kids.

I think you need to keep one of the two because of how young the midfield would otherwise be.

I'm more thinking of a give away price or even paying something for another club to take them..
We got a pick in the 40s and one in the 50s for Mitchell for example and his contract wasn't near the amount a club would be up for taking on Taranto or Hoppers $$$.

I agree Taranto has value around goals so with salary cap to spare you could definitely utilise him there and maybe part with a pick or two to Stkilda or similar to take on Hopper.

There’s no way Hopper and Taranto are getting traded so just put that one out if your scenarios, they will finish 1 & 2 in our B&F this year and had good years.

Yep they were quiet today but so what, it was a nothing game for us.

It’s been mentioned here and it’s spot on, we need speed in our midfield then you find Taranto and Hopper become valuable as they win plenty of clearances.

If we can get speed into the midfield either through trade or the draft we will improve significantly. Roos torched us with speed today in Mckercher/Wardlaw/LDU etc

We need speed it’s as simple as that.

Btw delist Sonsie/Kmac and look to trade Short imo.

Yes !!! I’m big on this they must go or else we cannot improve.
TT cannot excute basic skills on a regular basis and is slow and chooses games to put in effort and then not to.
Hopper is a decent player but is sooo slow he cannot play afl mid.
Prestia is completely finished as a player. He gets caught all the time and he is a shocking butcher of the ball.
I would love to see them find a new home. Alas I don’t think anyone would have them.

Taranto and Hopper would be depth players at GWS. Their trade value would be low, unless we can offload them to a club that has to pay overs like norf or st kilda.

Disagree. Prestia goes next year. If we trade them, who steps up? First and second year players in Lalor, Mcauliffe, Hotton or Smillie? Players who are limited in Dow and Sonsie if he gets an extension? Smalls with pace in Green, Rioli and Campbell? Need at least 1 of them to stay, or get another senior mid like Windhager cheap to counteract it, otherwise our midfield will be even worse next year by trading them.

The hawk troll is an utter **** looking to capitalise on the boards meltdown. We already traded out players surplus to needs but unlike the hawks who bought high and sold low we played moneyball getting in two mids on the cheap salary wise.

We recognised we needed to stockpile picks and youth and we did that last year with Bolton, Rioli and Baker except instead of taking throw away picks like they did we got multiple first round picks.

They haven’t learned selling the farm for a cooked Barrass and paying top dollar for Josh ****ing Battle thinking they were close to a flag (they are miles off)
