Yeah we will definitely have to agree to disagree.

Fair enough you can do what ever you want with your free time, football isn't everything.

But in my opinion if you aren't going because you don't like sitting through a few loses its not much different to what the boys dished up on Friday.

My local club where I play and have served as a board member has gone from A grade to D grade my 12 years at the club, when times are tough you do see people jump off. I've been on the end of 100 point thrashings and seen my mates who jumped ship win flags at other clubs, but it's something I would never do. Even though it's hard sometimes, you love your club and you stick with them.

Sometimes it's not enjoyable, you have to goto training when it's raining in the middle of winter after working all day, it would be "more enjoyable use of my time" to sit on the couch and watch a movie. But that's not what football is about, you push through the hard times because the rewards are worth it.

Wait how long have you been a Blues fan?

12 years at your local and they go from A to D Grade??? Sure you aren't a jinx mate??

Can I interest in you in a Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond and/or Hawks platinum membership? Will even offer you supporters gear etc...

Cancel the list cull and the slaying of Mick - we have our answer guys!

Being serious - great thread with some good discussion.

Have been a member since 1960 and won't be changing. You go through the good and the bad. I still donate to the club the same amount (indexed with inflation) every year and always will. We do need massive cultural change though.

Next pre season needs to be simply about the basics - kicking, tackling, blocking etc. We need a coach who does nothing else but teach the team things. Anyone who doesn't do team things doesn't play. Also wouldn't hurt to introduce a number 3 blade or under policy when it comes to haircuts and zero facial hair.

Lets have a few more years of this.

There's so much wrong with this pic I don't know where to start.

Edelstein looks like a toothless vampire itching to sink his gums into our young players.

Or sucking the life out of our players, coach club and ....

Begone fouls shade! Begone! By the spirit of Barrasi's Mo I cast thee out!

By the knackered knees of Diesel Williams, by the horny elbows of David Rhys-Jones, Begone!

I have been in Europe for the last 6 weeks so I have missed our first 5 games of the season.

Listened to the Carlton V Collingwood match on the radio at Heathrow airport.

I was actually quite hopefull coming into this season. Probably the most positive since after 2011..

I don't even know where to start with regards to how we rebuild. Just keep bringing in more of the likes of Cripps and Doc.

I wonder what's going to change.

What is this club going to do differently to turn this around?

At the moment, Carlton is a laughing stock. Who is taking Carlton seriously these days?

The clubs reputation is in tatters

The sad thing is that in my mind that's what we've always been... a laughing stock of the competition. I've never thought of us as a serious club. I'm a 90's kid and I'm sick of hearing about the glory days from the club. I don't freaking care! I mean I do, but what I want to know is WHAT ARE WE NOW?!?! What do we stand for? Absolutely effing NOTHING that's what!

I can't believe the shit we are STILL in.

Never in my wildest nightmares did I think we would be in the same position as we were when I was just a kid. It's like its never going to end.

I've supported the club for 20 odd years and I'll continue to support them for 20 more, but I'm getting tired and I need to vent. Sorry you guys cop my frustration.

In saying that, I still feel like I am a part of something special. Even if it's hanging by a thread I know I am a part of something. It may not be obvious to me now, but hopefully in time I will see exactly what this club really is. What we stand for and find our identity.

We are soulless at the moment.

Go Blues.

I think our list now is stronger than the list that Ratten left. The fact that we've gone backwards every year since Ratten left points to the fact that Mick is washed up as a coach. Now that he's broken the coaching record and lined his pockets a little more for retirement, I don't see any reason why he will want to be there past the end of this season.

When he took over as coach, he decided in his infinite wisdom that our list didn't need any significant change. He has since implemented a game plan which is diametrically opposed to the one that Ratten had used and one that has clearly never suited the strengths of the playing group.

He obviously hasn't instilled any self-belief in the players and our on field leadership and performance reflects this.

I don't see any way that we can keep him around past this season. It's time to start looking for an enthusiastic replacement who doesn't have two feet firmly planted in the past.

What about when we lost to GC when fighting for a finals spot under ratts?

Even when we were good in 2011 there was a ton of downhill skiing going on.

I don't think it's the coaches.

At the very least the club is trying to win back members/fans to games by things like reverting back to the old monogram and the Hovercraft .. It might seem cosmetic touches, but for the first time on years, it does appear the admin is trying get in touch with the fans and engage them in feedback in how to improve the club ..

That's a start, doesn't fix our on field doo doo, but its a far cry from the dark Elliot/Collo/Smorgon regime ..

And I firmly have the utmost faith in The Vet and SOS, HOJ's (Hubby of Jo's) resume at building GWS's list speaks for itself.

Right now the best thing supporters and members can do is be patient.

Cancelling/Micro-Waving your membership and refusing to go to games till meaningful regime change is the Richmond way, not ours

Have a look at all those charming Doggies old timers at WB games (especially those grams with knitted Footscray scarfs, bless them)
They have stood thick and thin, loyal and passionate to the most unsuccessful VFL/AFL club of the past 50 years ..

They still rocked up to games in the 70s/early 80s when the Dishlickers weren't much good, and now, finally, they may see a grand final in the not too distant future.

There is nothing tangible the supporters/members can do to salvage our season, and just trust that MLG will follow through on an extensive review of the football dept at end of the season.

Threats of supporter revolt (not directed at anyone on this forum, just reading crap I read on other Carlton forums/FB Page) like petition for a mid-season EGM and spill of the board, or worse, a supporter led petition to have Mick sacked miseason, are just silly, reactive notions that doesn't help.

Pretty confident there will be massive changes at the club at season's end .. Gotta have faith ..

One bad year as coach and Ratten was sacked, pretty piss poor from everyone who had a say in that decision, should've given him another year to turn things around, alas we hired a fossil instead.

Wish people would get over the Ratten sacking .... His fate was sealed by the players after that GC loss .... that was almost as bad as a performance on Friday night. The only thing that will save MM is there is no one more qualified to take his place. Ratten was not as fortunate.

He needed to go and I love him.

I think certain players need to go before MM.

Players have had it their own way since the Fev era .... Time to show them who pays their salary!

At least we were exciting to watch under Ratten. Although our development and list mgt was shit house.

Now our wins are often just as stale and stressful as our losses.

Genuine question. If Ratts was as accomplished a coach as some would have us believe, why was Bolton appointed as Clarkson's stand in last year in preference to Ratts?

My son a Dockers tragic since inception ask him about patience and the joy of winning after all those losses..same if you are a Footscray supporter now seeing some success good on them...yeah we have an awful start to the year but 4 finals appearances in 5 years (albeit limping in) isn't exactly abject failure.....it's not the 70's or 80's any more the competition has changed dramatically there is now 18 teams not 12...get ready for long periods of disappointment...our turn will come as it did for Geelong and Hawthorn...look at three time premiers Brisbane now...our problem is we are not a good as the teams that beat us, simple as that, but we will be one day just like the Dockers Footscray etc etc etc....:)

Who would know?

You could speculate everything from Bolton is simply a better coach to Clarkson hates Rattens ears.

I remember hearing on fox footy that it was because Bolton lives closer to Clarkson

How true that is, who knows, but it was mentioned a couple of times
