The 2014 FA Cup. Went to the pub and a club instead that night, closest effort I made was wearing an Arsenal strip out. It was a pretty good game, a comeback, and the side's first trophy since Cup Finals were at the Millennium Stadium and I was a 10-year old barely staying awake.

The last day of this Test- because it was originally day 2 and I had a bunch of stuff to do for my wedding and upcoming OS trip I planned them for Saturday with the aim of attending on Sunday. **** me.

I was also stuck waiting for the bus (which was 40 minutes late) while Mitch Johnson destroyed England last year.

I also missed the last day when Warne shredded England and we managed to win in the 06/07 series.

I'm beginning to feel my non-presence at Adelaide Oval leads to spectacular bowling performances by Australia.

I slept through the Australia v. Iran World Cup play off in 97. I'd flown back from England for my old man's wedding and was jet lagged as f***, I saw the Weddos for the last time on that trip too. England/Australia/England in nine days makes a real mess of you though, I wouldn't recommend it.

I'll pay you stay away. :p

Steve Waugh's 100 of the last over (last ball?) at the SCG. We were living right next to the ground at the time (literally 300 metre walk to the entrance) and I had a ticket to the ground but didn't think much was gonna happen in the afternoon session so just watched on the TV. Don't know why I didn't race over with half an hour to go. Anyway.

'Off the last ball can you believe that!'

If you had gone to the ground you would've experienced it live, but you also would've missed out on Bill Lawry.

I've never seen the drawn 2010 GF.

Was partying in Croatia and no pub with the ability to show it was willing to open at 6am (killjoys) for two Aussies to watch it, even though we told them we'd round up more and buy stuff.

Intended to get up first thing and follow it on the internet but got too pissed then woke up to check the score and saw what had happened. I had a nasty feeling that Collingwood would win the replay so didn't even bother to try and watch that.

I also attended the 2005 GF but not the 2006 GF. Fail.

my old man - crows supporter - walked out of the MCG 15 mins into the last quarter of the 97 prelim final and got on the train back to my aunties. didn't beleive us when we told him we'd won

Was at that game- free tix from a cousin.
Amazing match, was seeing all the dogs supporters celebrating like they had it in the bag, I knew different. :(

Why on earth do people do this? I remember reading about Man City fans leaving during injury time in that match against QPR where they won the title.

Just pure insanity - I'd never leave a final/big match early in any circumstances.

Jeez you'd be pissed missing that, arguably the most epic end to a sporting season in history.

Anybody have a wedding etc. on day of the Grand Final Replay?

Had a wedding on grand final day 2012, scheduled to start about 5 minutes before the final siren. Couldn't get out of it unfortunately.

Memory a bit hazy, so details may be wrong.

Last day of the Perth test in 2006, England are on the ropes in the second dig at 7 for not many. Had to leave to pick my brother up from wherever. Thought if they made it through to lunch I'd get back to watch the end.

They get done a few balls after lunch, I was 20 seconds away from home.

Germany's 7-1 win against Brazil Was planning to stay up and watch it but decided not to.

My step sister got married the day England put five past the Bosch in 2001.
I was in a pub in south london watching that game. Unfortunately the poms haven't come close to that preformance again

I lost my virginity during the third (and some of the fourth [subtle brag :p]) quarter of the 2011 Grand Final. Probably the best part of the game too.

Coincidentally, the only two North Melbourne games I was not able to watch live this year were Round 13 and Round 22, both against the Crows, both for birthday parties.

Only saw the last few minutes of the '05 and '06 grand finals. Got in a disgreement with dad the first year so went on a long walk and second year had stayed up really late the night before (and I was in WA).

Missed this year's grand final because we were moving house (much less fun than drinking and watching the game...) but luckily it turned out to be a shit game.

Once the "Wow a draw!" shock wore off it was obvious Collingwood wasn't going to screw up a second time. Sure enough the replay was the worst non-Power grand final in decades.

I also attended the 2005 GF but not the 2006 GF. Fail.
That would sting.

Listened to the 2013 prelim vs Geelong on a dodgy radio link overseas (locals thought I was nuts for yelling at my phone) but missed the grand final because of no internet/radio/tv/civilisation.

I listened to the 1989 Grand Final up in Burke and Wills country on a crackly am radio that kept dropping out.

I was having a smoke during the tea break on the last day of the Test and was amazed at how many people were leaving. More fool them I guess, they missed the ending of a match that is now lodged in my top three Tests of all time.

I was one of them
That's going to sting for a while.

The one day game where South Africa chased down 434. Remember watching Ponting destroy them and going to bed thinking no way they would get close. Boy how I and probably everyone else in the world were wrong.

The game where Buddy kicked 100 and Fev 99

Spent the first half at a house without tv watching the updates online, then the second half in a taxi

When Steve Waugh made that memorable 100 at the SCG me and some mates were playing cricket in the park when that memorable moment took place. Had a portable radio listening tho.

Anybody have a wedding etc. on day of the Grand Final Replay?

My mates parents got married on replay day in 77. Footy mad family too.

Given the majority of wedding festivities happen at night, it's probably not as bad as it sounds. Also I think that was the first year of a live GF telecast too (?) so everybody was used to just listening on radio anyway, which you can do in the car.

If anyone really has to plan a big event on that day, particularly a wedding which costs a lot, always do yourself a favour with some insurance - have a sneaky grand or something on the GF draw, it generally opens at $51. Will ease the pain a bit.
