Just spat out my cornflakes* when I saw Ireland was starting

*not true, am not eating cornflakes. But I like the saying

He looks awful too. A great shame IMO, and you've just got to wonder where he's going to be in 3 years time.

QPR looking head and shoulders above a poor Villa at the moment.

Nothing average about yesterday's display, that's just people on the wind up

We should've been 4 up by half time. And we hit the post dunno how many times. Wolves were much better in the 2nd half but we had loads of chances to put it away and hit the woodwork a few times

Pleased with Carroll's work, he was fantastic yesterday. The partnership with Suarez works far better when he's the withdrawn one going up the ground taking blokes with him. Looked fine with the ball at his feet as well, some nice passes

The defense seriously gives me grief though. So doesn't Charlie Adam and Henderson. Kuyt has shown twice as much as Henderson has and can't get a start

yeah carroll had a good game, and should be played as that holding forward and give suarez time and space. Carroll looks lost around goals and a few times failed to read the play.

I agree with the midfield that it needs more quality & experience...Lucas, henderson, and adams are not an elite combo. Once Gerrard comes back that will sort that out. Kuyt needs more game time! I was surprise to see suarez get subbed ahead of henderson and lucas as the game was still in the balance and suarez was always looking close to scoring a sealer goal.

defensively, we need to develop Coates as fast as possible

there's a very good chance suarez won't be at liverpool next season. so I wouldn't get too attached to him.
on the noticeably average displays of liverpool in their last three outings and the fact that Tottenham and Arsenal are arguably better, and will finish ahead. no CL = no Suarez.

and you can't say he rates the manager too highly either.

Dude, that is ridiculous. Another age old classic that if you're not playing CL football then nobody wants to play for you. Despite the amazing fact that Suarez signed for the club knowing that we were in fact, not playing CL football. It's also weird that Denmark captain and world class defender, Daniel Agger still plays for us. We havent played CL football in two years. Surely he should be gone by now. Why is Kuyt still with us, or Gerrard, or Reina, or anybody. Our squad should be full of championship players.

I think in Liverpools case there is still this presumption that getting back into the champions league is only a matter of time.

Miss it last year, that was unfortunate, miss it again this year and you might be able to make an excuse. Miss it again and sooner or later, people will come to the realisation that if they want champions league they're going to have to look elsewhere.

Doubt that would happen with Suarez this season, but if you don't make it in the next couple of seasons I'm sure he'll be looking for an out.

So apart from having spent all of the summer money on trash, Suarez providing a one man team outlet in attack, the defense being completely incapable of keeping a cleansheet and being completely overrun in the second half by Wolverhampton in the midfield in the second half everythings going just swell?

I think most can see that the top 3 this year + Tottenham have been a class above and as much as Liverpool fans want to complain about luck they are well worthy of there current points tally. If the goal is top 4 (or in some peoples eyes the title) you are currently failing in that regard and getting overrun by Wolves in the midfield at home isnt the way to lessen the gap

All the summer money was spent on trash? Enrique is trash? Downing is trash? Coates is trash? Adam is trash? Bellamy is trash? The only player who hasnt really fit in and performed is Henderson. Carroll was bought last year so doesnt count.

I dont think we were overrun by Wolves, they did get about 50/50 with possession but it equated to almost no clear cut chances on goal. Whereas we should have scored 4 goals. I thought the performance was good and we did enough to win the match.

Suarez is also not a one man attack. Bellamy, Kuyt, Carroll, Henderson, Adam have all scored this season. Gerrard is returning and is an obvious goal threat.

Imagine if he saw the second when your team was actually poor .

Yeah we were so poor, Carroll hit the post with a good header, Downing was released one on one and didnt score when he should have, Hennessy also made a wondersave on a Suarez volley from 10 yards out. We should have scored more that 2 goals in the match and had plenty of opportunities to put the game to bed.

come on bro maybe if we dont make champs league for another 2 seasons then yes he would probably go not just him...

Luis Suarez
Happy for the winning and scored again! Is important to gain more points in this championship! I felt really sad and sorry because I always want to help my team to win the match!! Thanks for your support!

Hes upset because he wants to play all game each game the manager has to look after him we dont want him to burn out be4 Jan... He also played copa america in summer....

Enriques is great

Downing has somewhat underperformed when judged on other similar candidates going for similar fees (Mata, Young heck even Obertan has outperformed him to date etc)

Coates has done nothing. Your defense is a shambles and he still cant start. Kenny clearly doesnt like what he says considering hes relegated him to 4th choice CB already. More or less Kenny once again overrating Carra and Skrtel. Not Coates fault he isnt ready

Adam has been terrible. Not fit to tie Raul Meireles shoelaces atm.

Bellamy should be starting but he isnt. A decent bench signing. Fact is hes the second best signing you made this summer and he cost ya nothing

When compared to your competition in the expenditure stakes your spending looks kind of woeful. Man United. Now theres a good summer

Adam has been far from woeful, has scored from midfield already, forced an OG yesterday. Passes the ball well and tries to keep things moving. He hasnt been a standout but he certainly hasnt been woeful. Downing probably hasnt been at his best yet but again, he hasnt stunk the joint out. Coates was signed to be the 4th choice central defender. He isnt ready. Oh and just how is our defence a shambles might I ask? Weve conceded 8 goals in the league so far this season. 3 of those 8 coming after we had 9 men on the pitch away to Spurs. We have also had our two main RB's out injured much of the early going in the season. I think our defence is going alright.

Oh and our second best signing cost us nothing? Shouldnt that be a good thing?

Not from what I've seen so far. In fact, the other week his passing was a liability. Think it was against Stoke.

He has been nice set piece fodder but as far as his movement in and around the midfield goes he has slothed around like a three legged turtle. A very big reason why you get overrun in almost every second half you play atm is because Adam output drops off and the opposition midfield is able to see alot more of the ball with less pressure put on them. He is a good player still but the role he was signed to perform he simply cannot do im afraid. Doesnt have the pace at this level to do it. Needs to either play behind the striker or as LW drifting in and combining with Enrique. ATM you sold Meireles and never replaced him in my eyes.

8 goals is a pretty poor effort especially when you take into account how much your midfield dominates possession with 5 men in there. Defenses that have performed better to date are

Newcastle
Man United
Man City
Stoke
Villa
QPR
Everton
Sunderland
Norwich
Fulham

and tied with Wolves, Chelsea and West Brom. Lord forgive me for not bowing down to there greatness. You spent 50 mill + and a player who rejected QPR and Celtic to sign for you on a free transfer is the second pick. How is that a good thing?

it's funny all these liverpool fans saying 'no way suarez is awesome he luvs livapool' are the same ways who would've said exactly the same thing about torres.

bookmark if you want - when your club under its prehistoric football philosophy carrying manager fail to reach the CL this season - suarez will want out - the only way it won't happen is if he has a really, really poor season himself.

oh and btw - I can admit it. I was wrong once. it was heads.

Don't understand why he wouldn't leave IF they don't make the CL. It's not like he only would go to Liverpool last year. He has no particular love for the club, wasn't a supporter or anything like that.

I personally dont understand which club in the short term could actually afford to buy him. Rich owners aside I think a few big clubs will pull in the purse strings and certainly wont flash the cash needed for a guy like Suarez. Suarez will stay simply because IMO there will be no takers at that price outside of PSG and Malaga.

and Anzhi Makhachkala.

What would you price him at?

What would you price him at?

Probably in the same area as Aguero

Non dummy spit (board cashing in) - 40 mill
Tranfer request followed by sooking - 35 mill

Id say Anzhi would have no need for Suarez. They have a pretty stocked front line especially once Arshavin signs on which is when and not if really. Real Madrid wouldnt suit or have a need for his style. Barca will target defenders in the near future. Suarez wouldnt go to Italy nor would they want him at that price. Id consider Bayern Munich as the most serious overseas offer outside of PSG, Malaga or any other rich mofo's willing to make him a very very rich man

yeah I think that's a fair point - which of the say top 5 or 6 clubs in the world who could afford him would actually want him.
madrid, no.
barca, no.
milan, have a surplus of his type, unlikely no.
inter, aren't they trying to save money? they might need him/be greatly improved by signing him, hard to see them doing that though.
manchester united, have rooney.
chelsea, enough strikers could use him but don't think they'd pay the price required or really, really need him and liverpool wouldn't want to sell.
manchester city definitely don't need him.
bayern munich, would he want to go to germany? a possiblity, I suppose but again, unlikely.

unless he absolutely tears it up to ridiculous levels for the rest of the season, it's hard to see which of the top clubs
1) would pay + 30 million for him
2) need him enough to do so

not doubting his talent or brilliance but that's pretty much the state of things.

Anzhi were in for Neymar, and would have got him if he was willing to go to Russia. Suarez is not too dissimilar of a player and should Anzhi get him, he's play in the hole, behind Eto'o (the prospect of that is mouthwatering). Given how much money they have, they'd be better off going for someone like Suarez rather than Arshavin, who would be pretty underwhelming.
