Dodoro said the Bombers had dropped out of the race to sign mercurial Geelong forward Steve Johnson.
Johnson, a frustrating but potentially match-winning forward, has been put up for trade by the Cats but the Bombers decided he wasn't the right fit for Windy Hill.
Geelong football operations manager Garry Davidson said the Cats were seeking an early second round draft pick for Johnson, who is still just 23 and already has 67 games behind him, but as yet had not agreed to a deal with any club with Collingwood also rumoured to be interested.
The Cats meanwhile have dismissed speculation star midfielder James Kelly, who also endured a disappointing 2006 season, was up for trade with Davidson saying he is contracted to the Cats and definitely a required player.
would of liked him to be a bomber
