Why is that after we have agood win you can almost always pencil in a loss. I am not concerned by the loss, but am concerned more about this culture of playing in second gear against middle of the road/bottom teams. We did not turn up on Saturday night yet were one goal behind at 3/4 time. That was a good sign as the team was functioning with good team-work, but our work-rates as such were down. No doubt the Adelaide game took a fair bit out of us, and some players looked knackered in the last quarter, but we did look sluggish and like we weren't trying to win by anymore than what we needed to, and Geelong are a good team and beat us as a result.
I just wish this team could have sent another message to the comp, as the one it sent in Adelaide has been lost by this loss to Geelong. I expect us to be fired up for Freo and I think we will be.
One more thing that troubled me was that when we needed some players to step up, no one did as Hird wasn't there. I was waiting to see who would step up, but no-one apart from MJ and Solly was there and they aren't the players capable of winning it off their own boot unfortunately.
