Essendon Football Club has become the first sporting Club in Australia to launch its own mobile site – a dedicated, purpose-built sporting club website that can be accessed on your mobile phone.

Fans can now get Essendon information on the go, with access to the site from their mobiles at essendonfc.com.au/mobile. They are able to keep up-to-date with all things red and black when out and about, delivering instant access to their favourite team.

Bomber fans who are 3 mobile customers, can currently check out exclusive Essendon content through Footy Focus on Planet 3, and they can now easily access the Essendon mobile site through a recommended link in the Mobile Web product, making it simple and easy to find.

"This is another way for us to engage with our supporter base and become even more accessible to our fans," Essendon general manager – media Simon Matthews said today.

"If supporters want to find out the latest news, get an injury update or read Matthew Lloyd’s on-line column they only need to visit our mobile site."

The essendonfc site contains the top news stories of the day, the Essendon fixture as well as player profiles. There are plans to expand the current content range even further to include other elements available on the main essendonfc.com.au site.

Annie Mackin from 3 mobile says: " Essendon fans have a history with 3 and have been able to use our popular Footy Focus product for years, with video footage & inside information from Kevin Sheedy himself. With access to Essendon’s new mobile site, our customers have even more information at their fingertips, giving them the ultimate Bombers experience."

Footy Focus on Planet 3 includes:

Footy Focus video updates from Essendon (includes Kevin Sheedy weekend review, player updates and news, gossip and tips from other personalities)

EFC site is pretty ordinary imo. Short reports that don't go into much detail.

Hooray for mobile website!! ....ace:thumbsu:

Pretty Ordinary!?

Wow, matter of opinion I guess, however looking at the 15 club sites that all the other teams are now stuck with...all I can say is I am damn glad that Essendon went against the tide and didn't sell this resource away to hellstra!

And to go the extra mile and provide services such as bomber TV when telstra, in their infinite wisdom, remove access to video content for all those people gifted with enough brain cells not to choose telstra as their ISP - all I can say is one giant thanks to the Essendon Football Club for enabling me, as a supporter, to view every game of the season plus more and retain the freedom to choose my ISP. Something surely most other supporters of the other clubs would appreciate the ability to do.

As mentioned, the only downfall with the mobile site as I see it, is not getting together with three, being major sponsors, to have them included it as free content!

Makes me even more proud to be an interstate Essendon member!
