Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't the bombers now use pick 82 to upgrade Howlett instead, thereby leaving our last live pick as 65?

So it look like a few here are a bit touchy about not trading Houli now.
That 3rd round pick would have come in handy.

We were going to use 64 on him.Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't the bombers now use pick 82 to upgrade Howlett instead, thereby leaving our last live pick as 65?

Or are they naive to think Jay after how many years would actually get it? Let's face it - he has done nothing we did not expect - turn up unfit.
Atkinson giving up the ghost - perhaps if they guy had commitment issues we should have been discussing these sooner. A harder one I will admit
I will fly to Sydney and go tell Jen to drop her bpyfirend/fiance(?) and come and live with me. Shoudl I be audacious too?
Making decisions on a 1 in 1000 shot is not smart business.
Pretty sure he trained with him a few years ago when he was playing. He also has made comment publicly about his attitude. It was never going to change and it would be naive to think it. It comes down to making a statement which I am all for - just wish we had have traded Houli when we had the chance.and how many times in the last 5 years have we had Hird as coach? I think it was reasonable for Hird to see what Jay's attitude was like. Remember, this is the first week he's trained the team.
It is a hard one. I do question though why we didn't make him commit by trade week if he is an uncontracted player. Still he may have changed his mind and Essendon can do nothing to stop that. Not even going to comment on Atkinson because anyone blaming the club for that is being silly
I thnk my wife might complainsure, give it a crack. You've got more chance than if you don't.
Given the hurdles to get him here1 in a 1000 shot, yeah I don't think so.
Anyway - the negativity of this episode is yet another indictment on Dordoro, not Hird.
IIRC we were pretty pissed we missed Dean Putt & had to take Hooker instead. Is there really any point in having pick 50+ as opposed to 60+. Most clubs pass at that stage so if we target someone then we are likely to get them anyway.
Just curiously, did *you* know, in trade week, that in a couple of weeks, Neagle and Atko wouldn't have done the jobs expected of them?
Reckon anyone on the coaching panel could have seen the future like that?
If it comes out tomorrow the Watson is sleeping with Stantons missus- so we cut him- Is that poor list management because we could have picked up a pick that we didn't need- just in case? Or is it a case of individual players dropping the ball and the club taking the appropriate action.
Atkinson told the club via telephone that he wasnt committed. Anyone who complains about his delisting, need to direct thier thoughts to JA.
He was told that he had two weeks to train to get a contract. He then didnt turn up to training and rang the club to say that he didnt want to continue.
End of story.
"While the Bombers only confirmed the players' delistings after Tim Watson spoke to SEN Radio this morning, footy forum users had been discussing the issue since the early hours of this morning."
we are so awesome
I don't like his taste!![]()
That's when Knights was coach. Completely different kettle of fish.I trust the Club has got some sort of plan with upgrading rookies etc
Because from the outside looking in this situation doesn;t look good.
it was no secret that Houli and Atkinson were leaving - it was listed on big footy months ago.
As for Neagle - well it had to be on the cards also. It's not as if it's the first time.
What do we have football and list managers for if they can't work this sort of stuff out?
Fool me once - Shame on you
Fool me twice - Shame on me![]()
I'm famous!
As for pick 45. In any other draft, without the eyes already being picked out of it by the GC's 17yos', it would have been what- roughly pick 60?
It's a token pick- and to hear anyone lament the fact that- but... we could have gotten pick SIXTY! is just embarrassing!
Sure beats pick 100
Yeah, and KFC beats McDonalds- but both are so bad I sure wouldn't take a date there.
So in essence, RT, you're saying that we should have predicted that Atkinson would walk out and that Neagle wouldn't follow his program?
You're a bit of a hindsight hero then, aren't you?
