Go check your records.
I think you mean Jason Johnson or have I got my wires crossed:confused:

Yep that's when it counts.

Big Big danger game for the Crows.

Bombers are flying at the moment granted their record out of Vic has not been all that flash lately but if we are down just 5% on the intensity we showed last week then Sheedy has enough options on his board to make us pay dearly.

As good a player as Hird is we will have more to worry about in keeping Lloyd down to a manageable bag of goals than anything else that's why if fit i would have Nigel back in the side quick smart.

Oh yeah, I hear ya Nods. I know I always see the negative side of things, but I can't help it this week, the Bombers have too many guns in their side, if they all fire, we're in serious, serious trouble. In reasonable conditions, with good supply from the midfield. I think Lloydy could kick a lazy dozen (seriously, Bassett and Perrie? Honest triers but they won't stop the Velvet Sledgehammer).

I'm particularly anxious about the fact that much has been made of Essendon's poor interstate record. It should give me some comfort, instead it gives me nightmares...the last time such a big deal was made of the Bombers travelling woes they dismantled Freo in Perth. I feel like they've steeled themselves for a big performance this week...I also don't think they've played an outstanding 4 quarters of football just yet and if they decide to unleash it on Friday night, we can start looking forward to 2005.

Music to my ears. ;)

Ant has gone negative on our chances in this game.

Ant's history suggests we're almost over the line already. ;)

well most of the current midfield weren't playing that night, so they'd have nothing to worry about..

So tell me who was there when the Power smashed you in Round 1 in the wet? If we're looking at horses for courses, Essendon's midfield can't swim.

Haha, have your fun, but you've been warned! :o

I see bad signs everywhere.....I think the Bombers' beast is about to be unveiled :(

Hopefully the conditions are a little wet on the night and we retain the intensity and level of performance of last week. If so, we are some sort of chance, however, I wouldn't bet on it.

round 15 last year?

I'm sure that memory still haunts the likes of Dean Rioli, Jason Johnson & Joe Misiti.. they were embarrassed that night. Many said that they might as well not have bothered to turn up that night... 0 touches between the three of them. Oh, wait, they weren't playing were they..

Come to think of it, neither were Justin Murphy & Matthew Allan have made more than solid contributions thus far in 2004.
Funnily enough, Rioli, Jason Johnson & Murphy all were listed in the best for Essendon last week..

so yeah, there was no Jason Johnson (arguably our best midfielder) or Dean Rioli (who has featured in our best all year), Justin Murphy wasnt at the club and Joe Misiti was there either..

You're talking ancient history.

I'm talking THIS year when Port kicked the living b'jesus out of you!!

Your mid-field was at near full strength and you got flogged.

Fact.

We may of had most of our big names there, but most were coming off an interupted pre-season. 1st game of the season can't really be used as a form guide, it always has weird results. Richmond even won round 1.... Anyway what does Port Vs Ess have to do with Adelaide Vs Ess? Crows and Power aren't the same team last I checked so comparing results is pointless.

Ok.... Port beat Essendon, Adelaide beat Port so Adelaide will win... I understand now.

Oh I get it. Even when Essendon's big three do play there's always some other players missing to give you an excuse for losing.

Do the Bombers have any depth whatsoever?

i wasn't using it as an exscuse, i was simply pointing out that Adelaide's midfield dominance over Essendon re: 2003 proves nothing for friday's game - there are four different midfielders running, or in Joe and Dean's case, jogging through the lines. If they played round 15 last year, we probably would have been thumped by just as much, and maybe even more... nobody knows though, cause the two clubs haven't come against each other with these respective lineups.. You could say that with every return game, but its not as if there is only one or two changes in an area: chances are Joe Misiti will probably dropped, but if you count in Ricky Dyson and Jobe Watson, who'll probably get a game, that's 5 different midfielders running through the lines...
we might as well be using a match in 1991 as a point of comparison..As Macca would say,

From a Crows fan POV, Adelaide's midfield would wipe the floor with Essendons midfield, as demonstrated quite vividly when these two teams met at AAMI Stadium last year.

It was p***ing it down in round 15 last year, and a number of Essendon's ball players, just didn't fancy the tough stuff in the wet.

Regarding Port, we had a **** game, pure and simple... You may of beaten the team that beat us by 96 points, but last week, we beat the team that beat the team that thrashed you first round...

Tricky.

Maybe we should just say =

May the best team on the night win the game.

Hopefully that will be the Crows.

don't say that Murphy was missing because he has to be most overrated dud going around.

Any credibility you had has gone with that comment. Murphy played a great game last week to be one of our best and has also had a good season so far. Not to mention he is on the base rate and there are players in other teams who will only play a handful of games who are on more than him!( so he is hardly overrated!), so we have got Carlton in that trade by giving up only Mcgrath who hasnt even played yet this year. Overrated? I think not.

Murphy will play his good games but he is still a battler.

Overrated and overpaid are different things.

Yeah but for someone on a base wage you would expect very little. He definitely gives us more than we give him.

Regardless of how much he is paid he takes a spot on your list

How do you know he's on base wage anyway? Players salaries are confidential.

Murphy is an average midfielder at best and has been let go by clubs on four occassions.

What he said.

BUT don't say that to a couple of Essendon supporters. Don't let reality get in the way of blind loyalty. If he was that good he wouldn't have been let go by clubs on 4 occasions.

Yeah but our point is that your average player on a base wage is a kid in his first year who won't play any games or it is a veteran in his final year playing a handful of games at best and even then sitting on the bench. There is no doubt Murphy is good value for us when you look at his contribution so far. You are blind if you can't see that.

Can you read. Where was I saying that he is not good value??????

Whole this thing started when someone said he is part of your midfield rotation. I just say I don't rate him and IMHO he is the most overrated dud ever. Not in all honesty when I read the name Murphy in a midfield it doesn't fill me with fear what so ever. Is he a quality player?????? No. Is he on base salary????? I don't know and I wouldn't give a stuff. I don't rate him on how much money he is getting, I rate him whether or not he is a quality player and IMHO he is not. He is a fringe player at best. Now he might be bargain pick up for you but it doesn't make him a quality player in my books

You are arguing completely different point ti th one I am arguing and you are blind if you can't see this.
