If we take a KP I'll spew :p

Brown, Daw, Durdan, McKay and Waite.

Waite has one injury interrupted year left if he's lucky, and Daw has played 25 games in 7 years (an average of less than 4 per year)
Don't forget Hawthorn took Roughead, Franklin, Dowler and Thorp over a 3 year period from 2004-2006.
I'm sure every club hopes every pick is a winner but the reality is of Durden, McKay and (potentially) someone from this draft only 1-2 statistically are likely to make it.
On the off chance all make it and you end up with a surplus you'll probably get some good picks and/or players for a good KPF

It looks to me like you've fallen into the trap of sliding players you want down to your own teams selections, then filling in other teams around that
Honestly I haven't. I don't claim to be an expert, most of these are off other people's rankings. If I did it on who I want we'd be reading:

Pick 1: Will Brodie
Pick 20: Jy Simpkin
Pick 29: Jarrod Berry
Pick 41: Ben Long

Ah ok you just rate Berry highly. Personally I'd be disappointed if we passed on a Powell-Pepper or Drew for a rebounding defender

Carlton need a lot of things; Brodie somewhat mitigates the need for SPP and another thing is Berry's leadership skills are amongst the best of this draft, which is another factor in me putting him there.

I think McKay will make it still a couple of season away though. Durdin showed some improvement- thank God as he was miles off. Daw is the interesting one, finally played some successive games- last five of the season. Averaged 4.2 marks, 9.4 disposals and had 13 scoring shots. His goal kicking let him down but found the mark in our final. Also Mason Wood 192cm showed plenty up forward and if we get ultra desperate we can always throw Hansen forward.

I just feel ( hope) our need for some outside run helps us with our decision.

I've seen bits and pieces of Wood (and haven't really paid too much attention tbh) - would you consider him a genuine KP prospect? Or more a Gunston type?

Yeah probably a Gunston type with the ability to take a hanger. Potentially our best player. 8 games avg 14.5 disposals, 4.8 marks, 1.5 goals.

Look we might go KP but yeah hope not.

There is at least some depth to our key positions though, even if they are not all proven. We don't have any outside class and midfield speed at all, and in a draft where there are plenty of this type in our draft range (Florent, Venables, Simpkin, Bolton, Gallucci to a lesser extent) it would be hard to justify not going this way unless there is a KP prospect we simply can't pass up.

You can't just keep drafting one type of player and leave holes in the rest of your list on the logic that statistically not every player makes it.

St Kilda have got 2 second round picks.

Jeez I reckon GC stuffed up a bit with their trading. 4 top ten picks but then nothing after that to use on their academy kids (Scheer). Their is some quality to take at pick ten.

Not this shit again...

Mistake IMO

Daw is hardly convincing. Durdin and McKay are defenders. Waite has about 1 year left.

Yes. I rate Villis and think he'd be a steal for anyone.

I'm not entirely up to date with the list squeeze at GC but personally I'd avoid point deficit of possible.
Why would we not go into deficit? If he goes in the second round will cost us a second round next year?

We will use our last pick in the 70s on him. Williams will be a rookie pick

I don't think he goes second round, I think he gets bid on by North or West Coast.

Use hawthorns future first round next year then. No way he is pick 10
Maybe not but this is how I see it.

Besides, I'm fairly sure that St. Kilda have Hawthorn's 2017 1st.
