Anyone watching? Its 1-1 going into extra time. Delefou has scored and has looked great as has Barkley again and Stones slots in nicely, should be preferred over Heitinga. While Naismith and Osman have been disappointing again. No Baines, Fellani, Piennar, Mirallas, Jela or Howard though we have one sub left.

Really messy horrible game, highlights Barkley, Delefou, Fellani, Distin. Kone absolutely choked two goal line goals, but will forgive him as he needs time to settle and was obviously getting into dangerous positions.

I didn't watch the game either but I also that once again we created a lot of chances but couldn't make the most of them, once again our strikers look to be our main problem.

Lots of chances, just really sloppy finishing.

Also gotta say Oviedo showed a bit despite being sloppy, he actually showed intent every time he got the ball.
I really like Oviedo. In fact the last 2 games I would have preferred him coming on in the 2nd half than Naismith.

Surely we cannot sell Baines and Fellaini now, it is too late in the window.
Losing them and quickly bringing in James McCarthy and Gareth Barry for example would be a huge step backwards.

I've said all along Fellaini is a lot more likely to go, even though I hope not. Losing both would be a disaster in my opinion. But let's say Felli does go, who wants McCarthy to replace him? I sure as hell don't!! Partly cos he's not worth the money mentioned, partly cos I think he's very over-rated/looks better cos he stands out in a poor team, partly cos it will be another former club signing and mostly because it will confirm the huge step we've taken backwards as a club this transfer window. Kenwright said any player sales would be 100% regenerated back into signings, if you believe that you're in for disappointment. Lets say he goes for 25mil, RM may get about 15 of that to spend now & by January we will be looking at loan signings. In an ideal world for me we would bring in at least 4 players just from whatever he may be sold for. A first teamer to replace him, and a few young prospects. Still annoyed we didn't go for Redmond when he only cost Norwich around 2mil

Just like with Lescott this public pursuit is affecting the team & the sooner the window shuts the sooner we can move forward. In short, if he was going to go he should have already otherwise it's way too late to do business!

Nothing wrong with McCarthy if we can sign him for around 10m or a tad less. Might not be possible though. Looks like Gareth Barry is fairly close to a loan deal, which I'd be happy with.

Thomas Ince has been mentioned too, as well as the link to Marrone and a few others. We'll just have to wait and see what happens!

I honestly believe that Martinez will already know who he's going to spend the money on if Fellaini and/or Baines goes but i agree it is really getting to late if they're going to go they've got to be sold by Saturday at the very latest otherwise we simply won't have the time to effectively spend the money well.

I agree with Toshowyouwhy, there's nothing wrong at all with McCarthy, very good young player I think the only reason that people are against him is because he plays for Wigan, I can almost gaurentee if he played for someone like Fulham or Swansea and preformed just as well as he did for Wigan everyone would want us to sign him, just because his team went down and we've signed several other players from Wigan the fans don't seem to want him but really that doesn't make him any less of a player.

I've got a gut feeling something will happen tonight, I'm not basing it off any facts or rumors it's just a gut feeling. Although that probably now means that nothing's gonna happen now. :p

Agree.

Wouldn't Man U fans be saying "Oh my god, why do we want to sign Baines and Fella when they can't even make Europe, they must suck!"

No, because an entire team and organization isn't based around 1-2 players.

McCarthy would be a fine pick-up.
