Very Interesting how his game has Changed since he 1st came to the Club as Pick 2 in the 2005 Draft.

1st 2 seasons he was mostly known for Speckies and Kicking Exciting Goals.

3rd Season he even won a Few Games like the 1 we beat the Saints in the Wet.

4th Season he seemed to stop these Exciting Stuff and playing a Normal Player who biggest thing is his Gut Running and Take the Game on by his Runs.

Very Interesting and be interesting to see what happens this season

I think he's gone back to basics a bit and the base is there, but until he consistently does it, I'm not sold. He was good in patches yesterday - and that's it. For mine, not assured of his spot in the 22 and has to continue to earn it. He has the talent, let's hope he gets there.

Yeah that's a good way of putting it - He is doing more of the Basics Stuff then the Exciting Stuff

The one directly bfr the daisy crop looks a lot like a certain Swans player.

But I don't think we should name him as the PC idiots will no doubt take it in the wrong context due to it possibly having a double context (which was not intended).

Third one back looks like Betts and you're right the second one back looks like Goodes.
Can't see what the PC types could get upset about though it either looks like someone or it doesn't.

Can you seriously not see how the PC types would take issue with that? Really?

It doesn't phase me at all, but I could easily see how people might not be too impressed when you essentially say two aboriginal blokes look like less evolved species.

Goes a bit beyond just looks in a depiction like that I think PE.

LOL. Yeah i can see how the "uber PC" could their knickers in a twist, but as I said it either looks like them or it doesn't.
I personally have no racist tendencies so the fact that there is a marked resemblance in what someone else may see as a problem is really their problem.

If we want to get onto the subject I reckon half the problem with any discussion which involves the indigenous population is that we, as a society, are far too PC and ridiculously precious in some cases over how others may read what is not there into another's words or actions.

I could have said Fev or Broggan but no-one in their right mind would draw any racist conclusion from that.

The fact is it does not look like Fev or Broggan.

It's simply about the context and the symbolism of the picture like that though. Like I mean if the bloke second from the right was presented to you just by himself and you said it looks like Goodes, there'd be no problem with it, it'd solely be on looks. But in the context of that picture, saying a maligned race is more further to the left would generally be received as an insult, regardless of similarity.

And of course no-one would take any racial connotations if one of the subjects of the picture looked like a Caucasian person, but Caucasians generally haven't ever had to endure ridicule at being perceived as being a lesser species, so the two aren't comparable.

Like I said though, and people would know if they followed my posting at all, I've got no problem with what either of you two guys said and realise it was said without any malice or racist inclination. But I could see, and probably justifiably so, why people would take issue with it.

I agree with your point about people being too PC on the whole. People search for things that aren't there a lot of the time, the recent KFC ad is a pretty good example of this.

I understand what you're saying but none of the "suspected" implications were intended. If anything the subject of any possible racist implications only entered my mind after it was raised.

It' is funny how we view things really. For a long time Chinese science has been actively trying to link their peoples genetic heritage with Homo Erectus as opposed to Homo Sapien, putting them apart and slightly "earlier" in the evolutionary process.

One culture sees it as a positive and another sees it as a slur?

back onto DT...(for the record i agree with Invigoration, it sucks but its the way of the world).

I thought last year Daisy was playing within his shell and trying to fulfill a lot of defensive roles for the team. Not that he played back, but he seemed to curb his attacking nature a lot in an attempt to improve on the 'meat & potatoes' areas of his game. I actually thought he was pretty harshly maligned last season.

What i'm hoping is that he can combine his attacking flair with the 'meat and potatoes' and find a nice balance. The day he does that, is the day he reaches his potential and becomes a superstar IMO. He certainly has the ability to be elite, just needs to add more strings to his bow, and find a greater level of consistency!

Well said, and I believe this will happen.

And just tossing all PC impulses to the 4 winds, lots of men have that ape-like quality. It can be quite attirant.

Going back 15 years you would look at him & say wingman. Chuck him on the wing & let him run. Sadly that is a position that does not exist like it used to. He is really starting to look like more of a utility, good at most things but not great at anything. He is struggling to fit into our bulging midfield talent, small forwards we have by the box full, running half backs are catered for (but think this would suit him).

I still have that game in my head where he tagged Dal Santo and hurt him going the other way. I think this sort of role could be great for him. Run with an elite player who takes him to the ball and hurt them going the other way, much like Kane Cornes used to do but Thomas would be more dangerous around goals.

Other than that he has me scratching my head how we should play him.

Did anyone else notice his goal assist in the 3rd quarter? Dale had his back turned to the goals and saw Alan Didak running towards him and immediately handballed to him, which resulted in a goal.

1 or 2 years ago Dale wouldn't have done that, he would've turned around and probably missed. Now it is his immediate response to do the team things and take the smarter option.

He has really "evolved", as you put it Dave, over the last couple of years and become a much better player.

And people still call him selfish.

Exactly this his too patchy in his overall gameday performances dont think his ever got 30 touches in a game, not totally sure of this but the point is there.

By this post you mean what exactly?
Chinese people think that their ancestral lineage included Homo Erectus and not Homo Sapien?? Makes very little sense because they are currently Homo Sapien, as are we, and Homo Erectus is now believed to be the same species as Homo Ergaster, an ancestor of Homo Sapiens in general, both Chinese and Caucasian.

I am not Chinese but my great-grandmother was a Homo Sapien, go a lot further back and my ancestor was a Homo Erectus (Homo Ergaster). Therefore I don't understand how having Homo Erectus lineage makes them "earlier" in the evolutionary process when the ancesor they speak of is common to us both. It would make sense as an argument if you said that the Chinese are a different species altogether (as Homo Neanderthalensis was but with common ancestry) that evolved from Homo Ergaster at an earlier point than our direct ancestors did.

This of course suggests that you subscribe to the new widely held theory that Homo Erectus is in fact the same species as Homo Ergaster, a common ancestor of Homo Sapien and Neanderthals. If you believe the old view that Homo Erectus was an offshoot around the Homo Ergaster period then the fact that they have evolved to be genetically identical to Caucasians in that both "races" are Homo Sapien is absolutely remarkable from a scientific perspective.

Lol I can't believe a BF thread has come to this.

LOL. Yeah a bit different.
The Chinese believed that they moved out of Africa as Homo Erectus and then to Asia where they then evolved into modern Chinese whilst the rest of the people on Earth derived from from Homo Sapien Homonids and then colonised the rest of the world. They believed that the Chinese people were in fact a different species than other peoples of the world. The Chinese were sequencing their DNA to prove this only 3 years ago. Unfortunately their sequencing proved they were actually Homo Sapien.

Before the Chinese claims it was widely believed that only one hominid species existed today, Homo Sapien. The Chinese belief was that this was incorrect and they were in fact descended directly from Homo Erectus (Peking Man) which was due to their studies proven incorrect in this case.
