He is still the master of the vent. Before he won the weekly, Chapman was getting blasted for being a spud and SJ was the master.

Haha it's quite funny how an opinion on someone can change quite quickly. I'd seen him around abusing every poor performance and I was a bit like jeez mate give it a break, well congrats to Shellster he has well and truly shown me up:thumbsu:

Jolldo has 6 trades left.

BTG finallly nails a trade.

Warnie not worried about the multibye coming up?

My team looks pretty good in regards to the multi-bye round. That was until bloody Didak was injured. As a result, my forward bench will have Mzungu, "Knights", Didak on it.

Prestia can be subbed for Didak to come on there to take one zero away.

My plans this week was to go Darling down to Callinan (to help fund my Duigan to Fisher upgrade), but I am now thinking to go from Knights to Callinan which gains me extra coin, but saves me from forward stress of the next multi-bye round. Leaves me with a forward emergency next week.

Other than that, I have a lot of depth. After trades this week my only 'Outs' will be Didak (inj), Cox (bye), Darling (bye).

I'm probably missing something completely obvious, but how does trading Knights to Callinan give you anything besides cash? They both play for Adelaide, so they'll both have the bye next weekend.

Yeah, next week with those completed trades and some DPP, my forward bench will have 'only' Mzungu and Callinan out for multi-bye. So, will have an EM clicked on with Prestia.

Out: Sandilands, Bartel
In: Lobbe, Ablett jnr
Without loading up your side m0nty, were you tempted to use the cash from the Sandi > Lobbe trade to upgrade one of your rookie players to a midfield premium and play Bartel as a m7 (assuming that you already had 6 midfield premiums including Bartel)?

Out: Sandilands, Bartel
In: Lobbe, Ablett jnr

M0nty up until today I think you have done very well with your trades… But I must admit I’m not a great fan of this Bartel trade – so please let us know why Bartel was sacrificed??

Personally, I think you may regret it when you do a season review.

Sure Bartel may be tad frustrating, but at the start of the year I'm guessing he was selected with the intention of him being in your side for the season. i.e. a keeper. Why deviate from this thought process because he missed a game due to concussion? Isn't Joey's knee a bigger concern?

Eitherway - chopping and changing premiums based on their performance over a 2-3 game period goes against good practice.

For an outlay of $130k+ I feel you may only get an extra 10ppg from the 'Bartel - Ablett' trade over the remainder of the season. Which isn’t that great a return… So in hindsight do you think this was the best option available for improving your teams scoring power? And by completing this trade are you indicating your forward line is complete?

Bartel to smash out a 120+ against bombers and Crowley to put the hard tag on GAj, Lobbe to spud up....

Really wondering about that trade, I could understand it if you were say top 10 and had a shot at overall possibly but at the business end of the season with few trades left I find it odd to say the least...Is Gaj really that hard to resist?

Although I agree with the above posters, you also must question what you see each player doing for the rest of the year. Even though you picked Bartel as a keeper, does not make him a keeper, ala a didak for example. They are simply scoring to low to be seen as a player that you can have playing. From my estimations I see Bartel as being a 90-95 type whilst GAJ could be a 115-130 realistically (I realize that sounds over the top but judging by past data a 130 with 10 weeks to go isn't out of the question). Unfortunately te major negative of this trade is that money was lost, as was points compared to if he had done it earlier. But perhaps m0nty had more pressing trades beforehand and thus had to make this move a bit earlier...

Does seem like a bye high sell low kind of trade that usually comes back to bite you ala my trade of Gia -> chappy late last year

The trade easily has the capacity to be worth 20 points per game (it may not, but you get that risk with all upgrades).

I think it's a good call (though seeing as I made a similar call on Bartel last week, I may be biased).

Without looking at his team I have no problems with those trades. As he mentioned on the CoachesBox Podcast he is expecting Bartel to start off slowly as a result of his concussion based on other players we have seen coming back from concussion like Jack Riewoldt. I've said this before but I just don't think Bartel is a premium midfielder anymore. Even if Bartel can average 100 for the rest of the season (unlikely imo) that trade still has potential to be a 20ppg increase. That's easily worth a trade.

The only real issue with it is that it's two weeks too late. But possibly he didn't have the cash available until he traded Sandilands out this week.

One trade yes, but essentially it's worth two trades because of the money spent. I would think upgrading a bench option and using them to cover all your byes would net you the same if not more over starting a rookie most weeks. A trade of say Heppel to Scotland is worth the same, and then Scotland could cover most mid and back byes.

You might be surprised how often coaches in high performing leagues trade out a "premium" when they have a role change or underperformance for a period of time.

Jolldo is right, Bartel is no longer a premium mid and essentially no longer a permanent midfielder.

I wonder whether Geelong will move Bartel back into the middle now after receiving a few hard knocks playing that marking forward type role...

I'm hoping they move him back into the middle and we can see some Bartel 07/08 style!
