Eskimo brothers? :p:D

I don't know whether many of the famous coaches have thought about this yet (or whether I am allowed to ask with the famous coaches thread rules) but I'd like to hear your thoughts on picking N.Riewoldt next season. This season I picked him with the assumption that he was a valued pick due to his outlier score of 20 when he did his hammy along with the two scores he had when coming back from injury of (68 and 71). Excluding just the 20 score his average was 101.8 and excluding the other two as well his average was 109.87 and we were able to bring him in at the price of 94.3. So to me, he was one of the first players I had locked into my forward line this season however, instead of getting that average (or the season before of 106.5) he has actually gone further back, all the way to a current average of 82.46 (I guess his has been disappointing like most of the side).

Anyways, next season, do you view him as a player that holds even more "value" or one that is going downhill who will be turning 30 in 2012 and past his best? I know I will be doing my best to follow him this pre season (hopefully there is a more info on the Saints in the pre season) to see how he is going, but if he goes under the radar it could be quiet a tough decision. I think I would find it hard to overlook at him at his current average yet some might feel he is past his best now?

He was probably the number 1 locked in forward for most Dreamteamers and i feel even with a Stkilda improvement he is struggling. I dont think his type of forward suits the modern game of zoning. The ball takes to long to get to him, meaning he has more than one opponent and he doesnt have space to lead into as players now cover the space as part of the zoning method. Over the past two years we have started to see the strong power forwards that take contested marks and play deep do better with the current game (Riewoldt 2010, Cloke 2011).

It will be interesting to see how many jump on so many underperforming guns next year (Lake, Gilbert, Riewoldt, Chapman, Goddard, Montagna ect).

I think it may have been asked before but Tarquin went in with 5 premium midfielders, i would just like to know how he thought this worked? he had good theory behind it? (Cant quite remember it). Would be interesting to see if he would go down the same path again next year or does he think he overloaded his midfield.

didak is another underpriced "gun" for next year

and a good bench rookie could be josh caddy providing he does not play this year

barlows ridiculously high b/e next week will be great for next year as well

ablett and swan will be pretty underpriced as well

Break even has nothing to do with player prices (kinda)... it goes on their average. But in saying that, if you've got a high break even, you averase is down.

Am I the only one that got within 43 points (or 1 extra Handball to each of my players) of getting the magical 2300 (i.e. 100per player) and feeling devastation with my performance? Perhaps that is because Dr DreamTeam beat me and leaves me struggling to make the 8 but still, how crazy are everyone's teams!

Last week I decided to finally use one of my LTI trades on a purely cover player. Decided to "upgrade" Iles to Bartel, after Illes knocked out 100+, I was not happy, but I will accept Bartel's score on the weekend.

Still sitting on 4 trades and around $100,000 in the bank for future injury trades or maybe a backline upgrade if the DT gods are kind.

Yeah, All teams are very similar and it showed in the pointy end this week with the majority of scores within the Top 50 within 50 pts of each other this round.....Had a 2238 and actually dropped from 22nd to 28th....Gee whiz it's tough!

My new goal is to get past Harf and Roy and I just can't see it happening. I think with 4 Cats and 3 Blues, I'm actually in the worst shape going into the end of the season. The only place I think that might work for me is that I have Heppell and Hibberd outside my top 7 (all things being equal) Backs. That means I don't have to cover them in my final round. Having said that, only a few still are covering for them. Perhaps having a trade or 2 to cover other players then them my give me some extra points in the final rounds, but will have to wait and see!

Interesting that a couple of teams brought Bartel in even though he has a bye left and plays the Pies in the last round. Cheap as he's ever been I know but at this stage of the year I would've thought it's super premiums in the mids only.

I concur. I'm considering trading him OUT for Ablett once he peaks and/or Ablett drops enough. Possibly too sideways, but I'm surprised some of them brought Bartel IN.

Yes also thought it was interesting obviously they still love the value. I would have thought maybe Montagna instead. No bye and been pretty good without those injury interrupted/sub games included. LemmingMaster did bring Bartel in as a 7th midfielder so bringing in a value pick is a good idea.

Stubz picked Enright over Fisher. I thought Fisher may have been more unique and also the better scorer. Fisher can get tagged out of games (vs C.Cornes) where as Enright seems to be consistent scoring 70-100's. He had less risk i guess. But again Fisher no byes, Enright has a bye still remaining.

At $280K?

Bargain even when not in form. And now, he seems to be regaining some form.

Maybe I'm just dark on picking him and not a better premium mid at the start of the year, but does two tons in a row count as form for an elite mid? Or perhaps I'm just over-cautious, given I though Didak was coming back into form after scoring one ton - he was priced at 380K-odd, and I brought him IN. *facepalm*

Moving away from Bartel, what on earth actually happened to Didak this year? Change of role, or just an off year? Might be an excellent mid-pricer for next year.

Oh as M7 is a completely different story and the value is obviously there but imo, especially in the midfield you should be trading in super premiums at this point of the year.

Bartel in the last 4 weeks (from memory) has bye, pies and the 2 dt antichrist teams in Adelaide and Sydney.

Disclaimer: I do not have stats to back up the antichrist comment re: crows and swans but pretty sure they'd be at the lower end of points against.

*waits someone to prove me wrong*

Adelaide would leak LOTS of points this year, intuitively... I'd assume the stats agree with me.
