I guess the main reason why I have not made a comment for many weeks is due to the fact that I have not traded since round 18.

I am sitting here with 3 trades remaining and will use two this week and my remaining trade in the final week.

The plan for a while was to trade away Carlton players on a bye or injured players. If Colin gets a few weeks, he will be gone and I will decide between Scotland and Gibbs as to the Carlton player to get the boot.

I've been a little unlucky with Stanton sitting on my bench gathering dust with his big scores, but he came in handy this weekend.

With the potential for some chaos in the remaining rounds, I hope that my 3 trades will come in handy. There may be some donuts in the remaining rounds and this is when I hope to push my way into the top 100.

3 trades sure would be handy right now.

Unfortunately this time of year you just never know what will be thrown up with key players likely to be rested and others put into surgery early for next year. Little bit of a lottery though.

I thought about holding a trade for this week to use on a Blues player either Gibbs, Scotland or Murphy...mainly the backs and really couldnt be comfortable in finding any1 i didnt have who i would benefit greatly from given i had Heppel for coverage....I actually thought keeping Scotland and Gibbs for the last round would prove more advantageous then replacing them as POD's hoping others would ditch them.

Unfortunately Sylvia may have put my season to an end with his high hit on Post....but hey...it was good whilst it lasted.

This has been a tough season with the introduction of the bye...not sure I'm a big fan either.

Just curiously, do you reckon you would have gotten better value out of those trades if you'd used them earlier in the season? If so, how far back would an upgrade have needed to happen for it to challenge replacing a bye from this week?

Problem is, you look at it now and if there isn't carnage in the next two weeks, us Trade savers (I still have 4 after not trading since round 14) look dumb. If there is the carnage we expect, we look like geniuses! I still think there is a chance that pies will miss this week and hawks the week after. Pav won't play again and Sylvia is in danger (although, still a chance could get a reprimand). talk now that Cox could miss, which for me, would be wonderful in round 24 as everyone has him and would be biggest impact! But it really is a highsight thing.

Still, I think I can make 100 min in the next two weeks and up to 300pts! If that is the case, then I think that is close to a win! Currently sitting just under 500 out of the top 100, so that is out of the question but have my sights on a target about 130pts out of my grasp.

Time will tell if we made good decisions or bad.

Good luck all.

Yep, Interesting point Molly!

I'm not resigned to the fact that i can still fall from 5th to possibly 75-100 with a potential loss of 500 points over the next 2 rounds.....I mean the names being brandished around for rest, suspension, injury are concerning none the least; however it's a punt I took and 1 i'll have to live by. I knew the Cats/Blues bye' were going to be tough; however i was confident I would have the depth to push through them with minimal impact......The Cats bye has been negotiated well but we'll see Sunday evening how the risk has panned out.

Even though I have the chance to fall behind a lot of quality DT coaches here in the next week in the overall rankings, I can still say that in the last few weeks i've had a genuine shot at the car which was my ultimate goal and not to finish as high as possible.

Yes at the end of the day people will only notice your final ranking; however there are alot of guys on here that gave the car a real crack which may ultimately sacrifice their final ranking.

Went the same way mate, traded to ensure higher scores through the season, but also to ensure decent coverage for the Cats/Blues game.

Fingers are crossed that my last trade is enough to cover any glaring holes this week with the Blues out, and that the 3 blues coming back are enough to cover any resters the week after with Heppell having the week off.

I'm sure there will be carnage, but I still think that it's this week which is the tough one, next week will be solved by having adequate coverage for this week.

Until I make the trades I am still unsure about how much value these remaining 3 trades will give me.

My main issue was the fact I had no idea who I wanted and which position was going to be needed on the run home. The second problem was to get one upgrade I had to make a downgrade, so two trades to improve one section of my team.

This improvement would have meant I did not need to start Krakouer or Mzungu or Ottens. Now all these players have been scoring roughly what most premiums have been scoring.

I've actually moved forward in the rankings in the last 4 weeks and have not upgraded, so I am unsure about how much better I would be for the run home.

All I do know is that chaos is looming and I am in a fairly decent position to potentially deal with this chaos.

Bench options

Puopolo, Otten, Howard
Bartel, Jacobs, Krakouer
Smith, McCauley
Mzungu, Lynch, Tippett (GC)

So there is some okay depth and I have three trades, so hopefully I can maximise my trades.

If there was a clear downgrade player (Callinan) that was playing, then I may have upgraded Krakouer to a gun forward, but I just could not take that risk with Lynch and Tippett on my forward bench.

Hindsight will be interesting to see how much I gain from maintaining these trades or lose.

Wow, that is a lot of my issues as well (except I have 4 trades). I have my eye on a guy that might be worth a risk to produce a lot of cash and a decent player. Also, I keep wanting to get in Fyfe but everyone keeps telling me that Fyfe's arm is about to fall off. Not sure if I have been taken to the cleaners or he has just been tough!

Anyway, will wait till Friday to see if there is more carnage!

Not sure that should be your focus, unless you are hoping to keep him for next year :p:D

Yes. When I say produce a lot of cash, I mean I think this guy has a chance at belting out 2 tons and is way under the odds compared to the guy I would trade out. I have 4 trades but only about 16k in the bank. Taking this risk on the guy would give me the money to downgrade to him and upgrade say Zmith to Goldstein for last 2 rounds. This assumes I am not too badly effected in other areas, although this trade would cover a mid spot and at same time allow me to move Petrie and Chapman back forward. That could give luxury of bench strength. If Cox was to miss, would have enough to cover him. As time goes on, I think the risk is probably worth taking (unless further carnage (probably only backline that would hurt this plan)).

After about a 9 round absence (last trades before round 14), here are my trades:
Out: Marc Murphy
In: Brent Moloney

Out: Colin Slyvia
In: Nate Fyfe

Two tons from the guys coming in. The big question mark is should I have used a trade to move on Zmith but from basic calculations, not sure that it would have helped much.

I saved 4 trades for possible last round carnage and as it is turning out, there probably isn't going to be the level I will need to really cash in the points I have missed by not making an earlier trade. Having said that, it truly is a case of Capt Hindsight as I have had a fairly good run with suspension/injuries. No way I could have expected it & if I had of had no trades by now, would have looked stupid if injuries come about!

Need Moloney to bash the Power next week to make that somewhat risk move payoff!

That really sucks Molly......Been a tough end to the season again.

Frematle have spat the dummy i think and thrown all the cues in the rack to make a statement. I can't blame them really.....they've had some shocking injuries; but what's hurt is that they've been to key players that Freo really rely on.

Trouble is we rely on them in SC/DT also....Oh well HELLO 2012

I am not happy he is out after 1 week in the side but I do have 2 trades to use and I knew there was a risk there. The funny thing is I thought of getting Cloke but was worried about him playing out the two games. D'oh

Last trades done!
Out: Buddy (rested)
In: Boomer Harvey

Out: Zmith
In: Mummy!

Risky but thems the breaks! Got cover in all positions!

Would just like to say belatedly that I appreciate all the work done to get these trade outs and for many of the 'famous' coaches to talk through there approach. Hopefully 2012 can be as successful as what 2010 was though ;)

Which "famous" coaches are happy to do this again next year?

Quite a few dont like doing it, but is great to see. I wouldnt mind seeing anyones if they provide logic and reason behind which is what many of the so called "famous" coaches do which is why i like it.

I finished 15th last year (Pies10&11) but my previous efforts were not that great. My best finish prior to last year was about 1500th.

DWD still owes me $100!!!

My thoughts for eligibility:

Either:

1. Must be famous (part of a popular DT media program or website)

or

2. Rank in the top 500 on a consistent basis

Sounds like a good idea again.

1 thing that I would like to see and would be interesting is to have a generic BF Team which can be managed by all posters throughout the season.

It would need someone to manage the team set-up and trades; however we could use polls or posts to manage the team through 2012 by popularity of certain trades, I' sure it would create some interesting and amusing posting. Stock standard BF team would be easy to set-up and work out.

Probably pie in the sky type stuff but would be interesting none the less.....maybe we could use 1 of DWD several teams:D
