hahah thanks NTT, Daz and Crozan ect.

I agree with NTT probably isnt the thread for me as it will turn to shit with the amount of newbs that post about my team ect. Dont want to ruin a thread as great as this.

Whats an elite DT coach?

and yes i only have one team this year as was the case last year BnGold.

Im not going to help people get a top 500 ranking if they dont respect the help they are getting. Just saying. Certainly wont go out of my way.

Looks like we'll be having similar teams this season then! :p

Although I jumped off 5 premium mids (that's if you count Hayes as a premium which he isn't) a little while ago.

Very surprised at the lack of good rookie options this year considering we've got a new team, one in it's second year along with the 16 other options!

As I said, toying with the concept of 5 premium mids. Did it last year and looking back, it did not sit wonderfully with me.

Injuries to the likes of Shiel, Magner, Neale and Treloar have really made things interesting.

It may be a case of either starting one and hoping they play early or starting another rookie and just blowing a trade before they peak to obtain a Shiel styled player.

I had 5 premium mids (none of this Hayes, Sloane, Cotchin or Barlow shit either) the true premium types :p for quite some time.

I believe there are 4-5 really good rookie mids, more will be known after this week that we can rely on. Also the thing about picking premium midfielders is like quite alot of them and see plenty of upside in many, so that also leads to 5 starting premiums.

Dont really like the backline premiums as you said. Ill be going 1 premium ruck just cant see 2 i like.

The forward premiums i love i may start with 7 keepers  as the rookies suck and the premiums are just that good.

Definately the best thread on DT BF. Hope to see all the best coaches mentioned who have participated in previous years to put in this year. Great read

Is it "Famous DT Coaches" or "Elite DT Coaches"?

Monty posted last year and his record would be worse than Keystone's. KA's pretty famous in these parts. I'm with NT on this, yes, KAs posting is compulsive and he does respond to every thread with overkill but he has also added plenty of value at times to this board. Certainly a much improved poster to 3-4 years ago in the RT days.

Even if he had a poor year it could illustrate some areas he went wrong, as long as he was willing to participate to years end and not drop off I don't see an issue.

Hasn't he already said he'll be away for a number of weeks? Personally I think he contributes enough without being in this thread.

And for what its worth - I vividly remember KA giving me help via PM's having no clue who I am. He did it just because he loves DT and loves talking the game. Not many others will give you that kind of 1 on 1 personal advice/help.

That's the thing, there are plenty of "elite DTer" on here who don't post often at all and then on the other hand, you've got the "famous DTers" such as Dr.DT etc who aren't exactly worth following as you don't get a whole lot out of following a dud side!

A bit of both is probably the way to go.

I think famous are more intriguing to follow.
I've come top 450 4 years in a row but I don't think I'd be very interesting to follow. Much prefer listening to people who make massive risk/reward decisions and hear their reasoning.
In the end the most important thing I believe is having people who will write fairly regularly as the thought processes behind the trades are the best part. Always an entertaining thread regardless though.

Thats impressive bro!

Last 4 years i have finished top 1000 2x, last year i wasn't really into DT that much (didn't like the structure and was busy IRL with work), think i gave up after round 13 when i had like 6 0's or something ridiculous due to injuries.

I agree though, when you look at last years winner....i mean the dude traded Boyd.....BOYD OF ALL PEOPLE after like round 3, think he traded other premiums too and well he won the whole thing!

Really enjoy some theory's strategies and discussion from Jolldo (high 2011 rank), NTT (high 2011 rank 6th~?), 54dogs, Skankdanker, Ausyid, Stubs (great insight probably my favourtie DT coach), Baxters (love the graphs and numbers), Impromptu (Knows how to win), Shellers (Not so :D haha 2nd in 2011 DT), Dylan123 (ranked well for past 2 years from memory), Director (winner of DT), Pillager (17th~? last year), LemmingMaster, Banana Bus ect

So many good people. Obviously don't want too many and im sure some of the above names aren't willing to and don't have the time.
Missed my name mentioned the first time reading through this. Happy to be followed although I don't believe I'm a famous coach and might not be the most interesting to follow due to that.

Would love to see some confirmation either way on the guys you've mentioned in the list above, not long until we get started!

I think both Molly and m0nty are worth following again this season as both were frequent posters last season and are always willing to try something different. Whether it be starting with a lot of cash (seem to remember Molly starting with 100-200k in the bank last year or the season before) or doing some brave/wild trades (m0nty) it creates great discussion (as did Ausyid's unqiue move to Corey in 2010).

Tending more towards Elite but there's still room for Famous Coaches such as m0nty who provide a valuable insight into a different strategy.

Whilst I agree with all of that, as we've seen in this thread people will still have potshots and it's not worth the risk of getting the Famous Coaches Thread sidetracked with irrelevant crap imo.

You were on my list to pm so you're in. :thumbsu:

Leaves us with the following list so far:
LemmingMaster
Impromptu
mollyfud
m0nty
director
Dylan123

I'm looking forward to the season starting and seeing the structure of their teams. There has been far less contributions this year by elite coaches. Obviously there are private forums, but I sense a deliberate decision to not give anything away this year. Certainly more than other years. But I could be wrong.

im always interested in following The Convicts. I think he has dropped off slightly the last few years, but he won the whole thing one year after finishing 2nd or 3rd the year before. i think he also got 2nd in the eliminator one year too.

Haven't seen many of them post here in a while but if they were willing to I think the likes of Stubz, Ausyid, footylover and thebaxters could all provide this thread with plenty of quality.

Edit: And after last season, how about your fine self?

Ausy is busy with his missus, Footylover is closely monitoring the form of Adamm Maric and Bax is snowed under sampling all the beer in WA.

If you ever get a chance Bax, Wicked Brewery do a great Chilli Beer....Great people!

I can't speak for EDT, but I doubt Footylover18 will be able to participate. It is also unlikely that Bax or Ausy will be able to share their thoughts either. Looks like Tarqs is flying solo ;)
