That's a rather specific thing to think lol. He's in the best shape he's been in in years according to pep. If they go two up top against the smaller clubs and have those sorts of days regularly he could crack 30 goals.
At 30 I'm going off his past record as the guide.

In seven seasons:
33+ games: twice - avg. goal return of 24.5 (with a PB of 26 in there)
30-32 games: three times - avg. goal return of 18.7
23-25 games: twice - avg. goal return of 19

Not saying it's impossible but he'd need to considerably outdo what's been a very good career to date

I'm pointing out that his past few seasons aren't a guide as he's in better shape this season than previously. 30 is almost a striker's prime, it's not as if he's 35.

I'm actually with JD on this one. I don't see Aguero topping his best season but even if he does, the goals to matches ratio doesn't work out particularly well.

That is ignoring assists of course.

I wasn't suggesting he'd top his best season, just that I don't agree with JD that he won't maintain this level for the season.

But he can't maintain this level all season without getting a new PB. If he hits 26 goals for the season but fires in GW1-GW5 with 7 goals that only leaves 19 more over 33 games.

It's the reverse of the logic of not picking Kane until September every other year.

Take someone who starts a season well then switch to someone who finishes well

Eh, I guess so. I guess I'm trying to say I don't think he'll drop off like you think he will. He won't get hatties every week but unless he gets injured I think he's worth having.

If he maintains this level then he would beat his PB, no?

The logic makes sense to me. I'd never thought of looking at it that way before but it makes sense to me.

I do the opposite with Kane each season.

Lukaku GW1 to GW4 = 4 goals
Kane GW4 to GW38 = 30 goals (Lukaku with just 12 in that time)

My main striker = 34 goals instead of just the 30 that Kane got or the 16 from Lukaku.

This year my thinking is something like this

Aguero GW1 to GW5 = 6 goals
Kane GW6 to GW38 = 28 goals (Aguero with 20 in this time)

My main striker = 34 goals instead of just the 29 or 26 I'm predicted from Kane/Aguero

No? There's only been two games so what is 'this level'? Yeah he got a hatty against Hudd, but he also didn't score against Arsenal. Just suggesting he'll have a good season and not worth dropping, that's all.

If I hadn't had to protect lost value with Hudson-Odoi I would be looking at:

- Mkhitaryan (cautious about him being rotated for Lacazette to start)
- Alonso (looks a great player down back and Chelsea's fixtures are opening up)
- Pedro (like Alonso has started the season well and Chelsea's fixtures are great)
- Fraser (promising underlying stats and started well for Bournemouth, good value)

All on my radar for the next week or two.

Brooks as well from Bournemouth. Hasn't scored massively but has fitted in well down there

I made the 2 free transfers.

Digne > Pereira

Meyer > Doucoure

The second one is a bit of a gamble but Watford have looked good so far.

Want to try and squeeze Alonso in but feel like I’ve already missed the good points on offer.

Yeah what's the go with Pereira? I keep noticing him do ok but haven't really focussed on him yet.

I thought about getting him at the start but decided against it due to our start. Fullback that gets forward. Already laid on 2 assists, 1 for Vardy and 1 for Maddison. If you like our draw, I’d say he’d be a great shout.

Everyone is raving on about Alonso and I've even seen some teams with four 6.0/6.5 defenders... which I think is insane. Yes the defenders have started well this season but it's only been 2 games. I have DDG/Robertson/Mendy so am not even thinking about Alonso right now unless I get rid of DDG (tempting). I'm willing to give United a couple more weeks to see if they improve defensively.

Yeah it'd be as a swap for Shaw, not in addition to.

Made two transfers for the week. Got 6 more I’d happily make but I’ll hold out for a week. If it’s still 6 next week the wildcard will be coming out

Even after my poor week, I'm not considering a wildcard yet. Think I'll give it 4 or 5 games before pulling the pin on my team.

I need to give it a few more games too, not overly happy with it but still had 2nd highest score in our league last week lol. May need to sacrifice Laporte or Firminho to a slightly cheaper option to upgrade one of Jorginho/Neves, only got 1.0 to play with. Looking at a GK rotation when our fixtures get tougher, but may just roll with Pickford & bring in a minimum keeper as well when I have a spare trade
