If it helps to make the gameplay tighter and more fun then I'm for it.

Far Cry 2 had nothing even close to that sort of scenario, if it was to be created you had to do way too much work to get anything really outstanding off.

This will still have a fair amount of stuff that is open and free, so I don't think they're making it linear. Just helping to control the story beats and making the gameplay a tighter experience.

Hopefully, just at the moment feel too many games are taking too much control away from the player. I don't mind it being linear, I just don't really enjoy the constant breaks from gameplay. How much gameplay was really in that video? To me the only part that was in the players control was movement between scripted events and shooting. And did they really need to have the character spell out he needs to shoot the pipes?
 
I like a mix of linear and sandbox - gta:sa was great at this, you could do what you wanted to an extent but you would always end up at the main story eventually

FC3 sounds like it will have a main story and a bunch of side quests/missions/secret locations which will be great
 
I know I will spend an eternity exploring. Just like I did in the first one and Skyrim....

Can't help myself. Love doing it.

The game’s official Twitter account announced Far Cry 3 would move from its September 4 release date all the way to December 4, a whole three months of additional time.

“A rushed game remains bad forever,” said the company. "Thank you for understanding.”

“To make sure we deliver the best experience possible, the development team has been given more time,” it said in reply to another user.

I agree to an extent, but I can't help but feel it's not wholly for polish. Wonder if there's truth to the GTA V rumour, a lot of games are buggering off into next year for fairly unexplained reasons. There's no true killer games coming later this year. There's the usual COD and another Halo, but they've both had some shine taken off them with the amount of titles we've seen this year, so not as huge as they once were (COD likely to still grow with the young teen crowd though). Same goes for Assassin's Creed 3, which thanks to yearly iterations has seen an audience lethargy. It's interesting anyway.

On another note, the pre-order content has been shown off. There's a Lost Expeditions Edition and an Insane Edition. Available at both EB and JB.

I'm REALLY disappointed that they're cutting out 40 minutes to an hour of gameplay just to push it in these special editions. Luckily you can get it at JB and it'll still be $69 otherwise that would be an extremely shitty deal. You do still miss out on the 1 hour mission from the Insane Edition, which will likely come to the PS Store and XBLM at some point.

Its actually November 29 in Aus. Getting it 5 days before the yanks!

I don't think Assassin's is feeling the "people are bored" problems.... AC3 is pre ordering its **** off. Smashing any numbers pulled on all previous games to date on pre order numbers

Once people see that it's just a location change and not much else I'm sure it'll see record trade backs too tbh.

Lost Expeditions edition has been scrapped at EB, replaced with the 'Wish You Were Here' edition. Same price as before, $88.

A look at a whole host of things going on in this game, a shot of how big the islands are, the animals that live on it, the vehicles you can drive and what some of the missions will look like.

 
Kinda hoping the wild animals will show up on the mini map. As a stealth player I would hate to wander into a lion or something.

Could imagine it now.. wandering around the outskirts, flanking the opposition when you are dragged to the ground by a Lion and killed. Rage would ensue.
