Hey there guys,

After having quite the animated discussion with a fellow Crows supporter about this topic i thought where better to get a consensus then the AFC Big Footy Board.

I have included 10 guys i hope will cover most opinions but have included an "other" option so feel free to put guys up and i can modify the poll if one player is getting enough noms.

Well I suppose i cant put up a poll and then not vote in it. I voted for Mods, back in 93 when i was just a whee lad, i was trying to pick a team to follow. Being born and raised in Perth the Weagles were an option however they never quite sat well with me, the dockers hadnt come around yet (glad i dodged that bullet :p), so it had to be someone else, i decide i would find my favourite player and go for that team, and then along came Godra, Mods just embodied everything i loved about Footy, the freakish goals, the highflying grabs, the bags of goals, he was like the Rockstar of the AFL haha. Basically Mods is THE reason i became an Adelaide supporter, and i havent looked back since :thumbsu:

Oh and for the record my mate thinks Roo is the most popular.

So there you go guys, have at it and happy polling

McLeod for mine. The silky skills and the ability to dodge and weave on those amazing runs.
Having said that, it is a hard decision and we are lucky to have so many great players to choose from.

Tony Modra made me an AFL fan. I get all sad and nostalgic whenever I watch this clip

Liptak gets a mention as well. I'd always make sure I was number 27 when I played football as a kid. I played pretty much the same way as Lippy, so it suited me fine.

My all-time favourite without a doubt is Andrew McLeod. He's one of the players who I've seen and really taken notice of their careers. I find him a joy to watch each week, its a privilege. He's just so cool, on and off the field.

My second favourite is Tony Modra. He's part of the reason why I fell in love with the Crows in the first place. I was devastated when he left for Freo.

I adored Ben Hart for some reason.

But I think Porps may have overtaken 1st place. ever since he was picked back up. I am going to marry that man.

Dewy,
I'm originally from Adelaide and am now based in Perth. It has gone awfully quiet over here with regards to the footy. We are also on track to be the team to hand West Coast the AFL consecutive away losses record when we play them at AAMI. The current record is 21 held by Sydney, unless they get an away win against the scum or the Bullies we will hand them the record.......nice payback for some of the pain they've given us over the years.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind seeing them beat Port at AAMI....;)

Favourite player is Darren Jarman. Just magic skills and awsome grand final performances. Modra had one year where he was unstoppable, McLeod has also been fantastic, and of course Roo....we've had some greats.

Favourite player doesn't always equate to the best and one of my real favourites from the past was Peter Caven. I'd seen him at Sydney and wasn't excited at all when we picked him up in a trade, but he was a fantastic player for us.

Voted Ricciuto, but this thread needs more LIPTAK. Also should be multi-select poll.

Mark Viska - I’ll never forget as a family sitting down and watching him save/win the game for us against Sydney at the SCG in, I think 93. Played on one leg in the second half. I’m pretty sure the only goal he kicked for AFC was in that game. He was hard as nails, I loved watching him play as a kid. I don’t think he ever got to 50 games for the club. His position eventually got taken by Scott Lee who I loved too. I guess there is something I really enjoy about watching the guys that go in without much thought for themselves or their wellbeing.
I can’t say I’ve really had a favourite player since then, I’ve marvelled at roo, been in awe of Macca and believed for a few moments that Darren Jarmen might actually be Christ reborn. But apart from that I just love watching the team play. Bit boring really.

D. Jarman.

I miss the magic. He was the Harry Potter of the goal square.

To this day, I have never seen anyone trap the ball so cleanly with his hands (porps is getting pretty close).

He could shake off a tackle with one shimmy of his hips. (porps is getting pretty close)

He had incredible balance and his evasive skills were uncanny. (porps is getting pretty close)

And no one, but no one has sent the ball off the boot so sweetly. (porps is getting pretty.....WAIT, OMG, I've got a man crush on the porpoise....Is that natural?? (Not that there'd be anything wrong with that)..

I was a big fan of him too, he used to love the hard stuff. I remember Andrew Jarman trying to get his nickname "death" to ring out around Footy Park, (like the weed) it never took off sadly. Underrated.

Too hard to pick my favourite, McLeod, Riccuito, Mods, D.Jarman all disply/siplayed brilliance. But cannot leave out Rehnny for his sheer courage and determination for what he went through.

Tony Modra, in terms of memories and excitement.. that 1993 year will never be topped

Outside of the premiership seasons, 1993 was the best. The marks, classic games and the grand final that should have been, the arrival of Mods, packed houses every week at FP. Awesome.

To the tune of Winter Wonderland, stolen from the Arsenal supporters

"There's only one Darren Jarman.
There's only one Darren Jarman.
Just walking along, singing a song.
Walking in Jarman Wonderland."

Scottl Lee never replaced Viska. Lee was at the end of his career in 1993 when Viska Started.

It was injuries that hurt Viska. He was still on our in 1997 but could never get on the park.

I had to vote for the Roo. Macca used to be my favourite until Roo won the Brownlow (I was 7 then).

1993 was Viska's debut and big season, pretty sure he played most of the year which would account for half of his games played for the AFC. Scott Lee played most of the second half of 94 for us if i remember rightly, they played a few early games together, Viska got injured about ten rounds in and Lee came back into the team and took his spot. Outside of 93, i can't remember them playing a lot of games together. That's my memory though.

Darren Jarman easily. Was the best footballer we have ever had by a country mile. Didn't ahve the pace or fitness of most but made up for it with wonderful skills, reading of the play and football brain.

Every game he played you knew he would do something that nonone else could.

Not to mention 97 and 98:D
