I guess it's not really a genre, but i think this is the type of music that everyone can enjoy. Usually a pretty chilled song with a catchy tune...some of my favourites are

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
MGMT - Time To Pretend
Bias B - Hursty
Hellogoodbye - Here In Your Arms
Eminem - Lose Yourself and Like Toy Soldiers
John Swift - Run River (song on the Corona Extra advertisement)

Feel free to get in here and contribute :thumbsu:

Funkadelic- Friday Night, August 14th
Eagles of Death Metal- I Gotta Feelin (Just Nineteen)
Eels- Mr E's Beautiful Blues
Air- Sexy Boy
Beck- Where It's At
Queens of the Stone Age/Desert Sessions- Make It Wit Chu

Plenty more from most of those artists, of course.

how then hell is "like toy soldiers" a feel good song? it's about proofs murder
same with "time to pretend", the lyrics are actually pretty depressing when you listen to them

the turtles - happy together
the avalanches - frontier psychiatrist
built to spill - car
friendly fires - skeleton boy
the go! team - the wrath of marcie
or montreal - rapture rapes the muses

I also struggle to see how much of the OPs selections are feel good music but anyway . . .

A few that are feel good music for me and I'd think most would fit in general.

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
Jamie Lidell - Another Day
Archetecture in Helsinki - Hold Music
Modest Mouse - Float on
Bob Marley - Jammin'
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Donavon Frankenreiter - Life, love and laughter
Gotye - Learnalilgivenanlovin
Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 - Shimmer and Shine
Decendents - Nothing with you
Kanye West - Champion
The Kooks - She moves in her own way
The Mountain Goats - This year

If you are ever feeling down and want to be cheered up then just listen to AIH. Their music is all about just having fun. :thumbsu:

Sorry maybe i interpreted 'feel good' music wrong. The songs i chose are i like are mainly because they sound chill and maybe not so much the lyrics?

Another one that i dont mind is

Feeder - Just a day

For me nothing says feel good music like the sunshine/bubblegum pop of the mid to late '60s

Stuff like

California Dreaming - mamas and the papas
Groovin - young rascals
Daydream - lovin spoonful
I'm A Believer - the monkees
Windy - the association

Phoenix - Too Young, If I Ever Feel Better.

Black Kids - I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with me. Twelves Remix/

Had to lol at the Black Eyed peas suggestion.
The BEP are actually The Wiggles without skivvies and anyone over 12 who listens to them should be embarrassed.

Fleet Foxes - White Winter hymnal
Spoon - You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb
Animal Collective - My Girls
Of Montreal - Gronlandic Edit

i have a few strange ones in here but they work for me when i feel like a mood change:

  • bad day-daniel powter
  • warmth of the sun - beach boys
  • love changes everything - climie fisher
  • your song - elton john
  • she makes my day - robert palmer
  • stop your fussin - toni childs
  • she's leaving home - the beatles
  • god only knows - beach boys
seem to do the trick:thumbsu:

eurodance stuff

What is Love - Haddaway
Eins Zwei Plizei - Mo-DO

fun upbeat dance music which doesn't take itself seriously. also goes off if you're tanked

all these songs make me grin stupidly and relax when i hear them, no matter what. i think they all come under feel good music.

outkast - hey ya
vampire weekend - mansard roof
cake - short skirt, long jacket
dave dobbyn - slice of heaven
deep sea arcade (sydney band who will be HUGE) - lonely in your arms
dr dog - old news
jamie lidell - multiply
spoon - the way we get by
time fite - big mistake

hey ya is another one i find strange, while i don't deny it has a very pop and happy beat/tempo. lyrically it's about a break up / struggling relationship

in fact a line in the song actually points out the fact it's a depressing song with a catchy beat - "yall don't want to hear me, ya'll just wanna dance"

i'd always thought he was saying that he didn't want a serious relationship and was trying to tell his girl that he just wants to have fun.

but to be honest, im not the best at hearing the right lyrics ... or interpreting them it seems.

Just listen to most ska bands.

Ska list for this list...

Ackee 1-2-3 - The English Beat
Lippy Up Fatty - Bad Manners
House of Fun - Madness
Bumblebee Tuna - Mephiskapheles
Hello - Mark Foggo's Skasters
Weird Beard - Mad Caddies
Don't Let The Bastards Grind You Down - The Toasters

One of the best though is...

Alright - Supergrass

I always chuck on Digitalism to get me going for some reason.

The Beatles - I Saw her standing there (always gets me up and singing)
The Beatles - Can't Buy me Love (always gets me up and singing)
Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down
Michael Jackson - Don't Stop Till you Get Enough
