Fevola could have gotten 2 free kicks in the dieing minutes to get his 100th. Speaking to many Hawthorn supporters they wanted Fev to kick 100. So what do Hawthorn do? Put 2 men on him. What difference did it make to Hawthorn. They thrashed us. The game would have been history. Disappointing for Fevola but hats off for him. Not many players can kick 7 goals in the second half while being double teamed.

Did you see the two blokes on buddy all night:confused: EVERY team makes sure there is a bloke dropping into the hole when one of the best FF and only forward target is on fire.

Also it was a bit Harsh that Fevola didnt manage to snag 100, heaps of "could of's" and missed chances, feel sorry for the bloke

only really remember bower on buddy and the kid did quite well considering the amount of easy ball you guys had.

The sad thing is, it was more like 5 men he pushed back!
My hatred for Hawthorn grew a lot last night. Not just because they brought in those rough tactics to stop a man that thoroughly deserved the milestone, but they are a cocky mob that honestly think they can comfortably best Geelong.

Sorry guys, We are not in the business of giving Fevola charity goals for his 100

"we are carlton, **** the rest.....But could you please help fevola kick 100, it would be nice of you guys"

And bower on buddy? You had another bloke (no idea, who his name was) would quickly try and cut off the short passes, and to crum the ball at buddys feet to stop him from burning off Bower when the ball hits the deck.

You're kidding right!? The only time Buddy had 2 Carlton players anywhere him in a contest was when Kreuzer ran back and spoiled the ball before Bower or Buddy had touched the thing.

In our final F50 entry, Hawthorn had FOUR players around him. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that. What I will say is that it just shows that the bloke that sits in the coaches box is the most smug little you-know-what I have seen in some time.

What about the charity kick he was given for his 99th?
This irks me. It wasn't charity. They may let them go most of the time but nobody can tell me that Fev was not pulled back/turned around without the ball and that it may have stopped him from gathering clean.

The commentators call these things soft but there is no doubt he was infringed.

Buddy kicked his when the game was up for grabs and got them in the 1st qtr, not the last when the difference was 80pts.

Would've been nice if Fev had got it. He got 6 in the State game so that makes an unofficial 100. If they count them in finals games (not for the Coleman of course) why not a State game

If the umpire had any sense of theatre he would've paid that last kick to Fev for a push in the back rather than against him.

I know the first free kick was to Hawthorn so I suppose it's fair enough, but still.....lol.

Carlton coach Brett Ratten felt for Fevola, saying: "You think how many times he's hit the post during the season and even in the game, he hit the post early.

"It's just a tremendous effort for him personally and I think you've seen the spirit of the team trying to get him over the line towards the end.
"To be one short, it was a double blow - (because) we got absolutely smashed."

But Ratten bit his tongue when asked about Hawthorn's defensive pressure on Fevola as he drew close to the century.
As much as the Blues tried to set up goals for Fevola, the Hawks at times had three or even four men on him late in the match."There's a bit of a romance - he's played a lot of footy for Carlton, he's won games off his own bat and if we could go out of our way to maybe see if we could get him there, for one quarter I think it's fair enough," Ratten said.

Asked about Hawks concentrating on Fevola, Ratten replied: "I suppose maybe we could have done that at the start (on Franklin), I suppose that's the way he (Clarkson) has seen it."
Pressed on the subject, Ratten said "they were only 70 points up".
Ratten was then asked what he would have done in the same situation.
"I won't answer that," he said.

2 men??? more like 7!! and to be honest the free they gave him to get 99 was a bit of bullshit haha. but IMO he deserved the tonne and i, among many carlton and hawks supporters, were yelling for the hawks (and the umps) to have a sense of occasion. anyways well done to fev and the blues on a great year:thumbsu: looking forward to 09!

it's just too late now. i would have liked him to get the goal during the game, but to complain endlessly at this point is just whinging for the sake of it. it'd feel like crap if he was retrospectively awarded a goal.

i quite like 99. a bit romantic, like bradman.

I don't want him to forget it. I want it to burn in his gut all off season. I want him to come back 09 the hungriest player ever. I want 120 goals next season.

You are dreaming, 120.

120 goals in a season would put in amongst the greats of the game. His good but not great.. not yet anyway!. He sooks when things don't go his way and really he was lucky to even get his 99th, that wasn't even a free kick.

Enjoyed watching him kick 99. Loved the fact that Clarko kept an extra man back when Hawthorn was so far in front.

Poor Fev they dropped an extra man back.
WHAT do you think has been happening to every forward this year and previous years.
