It's a joke that Bentick plays two or three bad games (and gets dropped, despite being the only help for Chris Judd), yet Russell has bad game after bad game and keeps his spot. I can understand Armfield not playing due to lack of match fitness and sharpness, but why is Hampson not playing?

In: Steven Browne

Out: Adam Bentick

Montgomery mentions the change in his interview.
Says Benticks form has been down lately.
Also said Browne was unlucky to be dropped for the swans game.

Browne is obviously nowhere as good as Bentick at the hard-ball-getting but he CAN kick the ball to a teammate. Good change IMO.

Hopefully Armo's not far away too.

What the f?

Seriously. They dropped Bentick, and leave Russell and Wiggins.

Don't say its because they play different roles, that just shits me.

I think it's more a pace issue then form, Bentick will be back real soon. Just a wake up call not to take it easy in the 1's or back you go?

Just my opinion.

Go Blues!!!

i agree. russell hasnt played one good game all year and he is still in the team!
bentick has one bad game (better than russell's game then) and he is dropped!

Booo, bring back Armfield and Hampson

On topic, who would people prefer out of Army and Browne considering both with full fitness? I think they might be competing for one spot for most of this season, I would personally like to see Armfield in for his pace and also the options he gives, his defensive accountability has also been ok when required

You have to get it to kick it (Browne not ready to play AB's role so who will?)
Surely they don't think they can get away with only Judd to get the hard nut

Bentick has been consistently better than Russel  Bentick has been down on form though. Probably giving Army more time to recover - but i want him back ASAP.

When can Pfieffer get a bloody game! He looked great in the VFL last week!

I reckon any of Scotland , Carrazzo, Simpson, Gibbs can cover Benticks mid field role and in fact do much better.

I like Browne to the backline to release Scotland , Gibbs or Carazzo onto the ball.

Again Ratts well done

i'm with big red. play browne down back and carrots or scotty in the mid. Really looking forward to this game

It would seem a real mystery to MOST Carlton fans as to why Russell has continued to maintain his spot with his ordinary performances, and it must be even more frustrating for some of his teammates, were the rules seem to be quite different, e.g Bentick, Edwards,Browne etc.

You are kidding right?

We are talking about the role of being on the bottom of the pack - Gibbs with Judd's class will be doing it soon, Simmo can do it but will be a wreck after a Quarter and since when did Scotty and Carrots become in and under men?

Sorry, forgot - you barrack for Carlton minus AB, remember now

I must be watching different games to the Match Comitee, because i honestly can not see in any way shape or form Jordan Russel resembling an AFL quality footballer in the future. Its becoming ridiculous now, how this guy gets gifted with games when he does or adds nothing is astonishing *waits for The_General to say "oh but he laid a shepperd!!!!! and he can lead really really well"*

:( :( :(

i seriously think russel has been given a roll that we all don't know, and he has obviously been playing hes role.... i like that bentick has been dropped sends a message out...

Hate to burst your bubble (....hmm actually no ....I quite enjoy it), but Gibbs has been on ball all year.

He went with Goodes into defence last week, but he had a role to follow Goodes.

Gibbs has been in the starting C sq for most of the season, especially after the first few rounds.

Browne for Bentick?

I wonder if AB's groin is playing up.
He missed some crucial targets last week, but WTF is he being used as a link man for anyway? On one accasion in the second Q there was a play on at half back, and AB took the ball, with Judd comiong through right behind him being ignored.

AB should have blocked instead of take Judds spot in the corridor.

Russ (from what I saw in the first half of my review) was pretty good in limiting Kennelly's run off half back. Had he taken his chances and kicked three goals instead of 1 we would be talking him up as having "made it at last".

clearly a different role to bentick. browne for bentick is odd. But his disposal can be a killer. Sunday will tell whether our hard ball stats etc. are different

russ will be tagging one of their backmen like he did kennelly last week. he is still the best option for this role.

The disappointing part is that I thought he may have turned the corner in the last Q against Sydney.

In the 4thQ he had 8 possies. He only played 52% of the game and had 14 overall - I thought he somewhat redeemed himself in the end :(

The most disappointing part is that now Judd has to do twice as much.

And he's not in the shape to do it at the moment, he's going to get the hardest tag from Boyd (in fantastic form) and all of his possessions are going to be contested now. Without the help of Bentick in and under trying to feed the ball out to him or laying tackles when the opposition look like clearing a stoppage... now Judd has to a) get his own ball, b) lay the tackles to stop the opposition, c) lead the team, d) lift the team... and how can he do this without any help?

What message would that be?

- Stevo you are next
- Don't be a hard nut, you don't get a stat for handing the ball back to the ump
- It is ok for the captn to hardly get a touch in the final Q and play about twice the game time for the same possies but not you

Five are u AB?

All jokes aside I do see the positives he brings in hardness but I cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that when we play a quality mid field his opponent creams him it is simply unsustainable and until he either a) becomes more accountable or b) gets more damaging / gets more of the ball he cannot take up a position in our elite mid field group.

Our number 1 asset is the mids and he is regularly exposed.
