Finals Intros

One of the things I used to really look forward to (and still do), is the build-up around finals time and the promos put together by the tv stations.

Even if your team is not a favourite, or a realistic chance, it's always nice to have a montage with a serious-guy voiceover ... tends to build the excitement for me.

Some of the ones I found on youtube (strangely there aren't a lot pre-dating 2010)

Channel 10 use to own these, until Seven came along with their shitty little intros with that squeeky voice guy, and then they got that guy from Ten and put it before literally every match and ruined it... campaigners

'97 opener was horrid. Not even worth a post.

There was one during the finals where the teams were set up like dominoes and each week as teams lost, they were cancelled out on knocked over in the next promo

From memory it was around 2004/05

Channel 10 was hands down the best at this. They knew how to sell a game. The 5 minute warning made matches 10 times as exciting.



Insane promo, perhaps the PEAK of one of the best of all time, Ennio Morricone's timeless masterpiece Ecstacy of Gold blasting in the background... Wow.

There was a Youtube compilation that had this video, and the different versions of it as the finals progressed, as well as the commercials for individuals participating (There was a Judd commercial, a Clarkson, a Buddy, a Hird and maybe one other). The compilation also had a West Coast intro for a game, and a North-St. Kilda matchup). Loved it, but the guy removed it off of his page for some reason. Been looking for it ever since.

I'm not too fond of the intros done here, but Hockey Night in Canada is always great for the playoffs.
