Beat Sydney well and its West Coast in Perth
Beat Sydney poorly and its Richmond at the G (Collingwood above us on percentage)
Lose to Sydney its Geelong at the G in an elimination final.

From what I can tell theres no other realistic potential outcomes?

What do you prefer??

Im not sure how you worked that out but its possible that we could play any team from West Coast in 2nd down to North Melbourne in 10th

Legitimately cant get anyone below us apart from Geelong, go through all options using AFL predictor. GWS v Melb will have bearing based on if we lose to Sydney...

GWS go above us pushing us into 6th therefore Geelong go above Melb finishing in 7th. GWS lose we finish 5th and Melb go above Geelong finishing 8th.

Thats if we lose to Sydney, Beat Sydney and its either West Coast or Richmond or at a LONG LONG LONG stretch... (ridiculous results aka WCE losing their final 2) we can play Collingwood.

We won't beat Sydney by more than Collingwood beat Freo.

Realistic scenarios (barring MAJOR upsets) are:

Beat Sydney, play Richmond in a QF

Lose to Sydney, home Elim final against Geelong or Melbourne, depending on GWS/Melb result.

Correct. These are our 3 MOST LIKELY first final opponents. Richmond, Geelong or Melbourne....

Melbourne would have to beat WCE in Perth for us to play them.
Walshawk above is on the money.
We win & it’s tigger
We lose & it’s puss

If Melbourne win both games and we lost to Sydney we finish 6th and play GWS.

Don't want to play Geelong like someone else said you just know they will knock us off.

If Geelong lost next week we could still play either Port or North.

They won't lose but it is a possibility.

Yeah. Just thought I would throw in Melbourne as that third option, though expect West Coke to get the job done tomorrow...

I don't think we should fear Geelong. Danger and Ablett had blinders last time and they still came up short.

We could have the following ins from our last win against them:
Sicily, McEvoy, Roughy, Birchall.

(and Howe , although not sure he still has a spot with Worpel playing the role he is now).

Doubt they can match that quality in terms of ins to a team that lost despite their best firing.

I'm still hoping for fourth and a crack at Richmond at the G in the QF.

To win this grand final, i think we can't play 4 games. We would need to smash through the qualifying final, win the prelim and then roll the dice in the granny.

I would otherwise settle for knocking out Geelong in a semi-final or even an elimination final.

If we get the Cats they will pretty much have had no serious games for almost a month . Not an ideal lead up to finals I would have thought
Would be very gettable

I hope we finish 4th & get first crack at the Tigers to be honest.
They aren’t perfect & I think of anyone that is to play them we can match them across the ground.
I don’t see them as elite anywhere & only their system as superior.
If we can bring the same intensity as the Cats & Bombers game we will roll them. I have no doubt about that.
GWS or Pies at the G to get through to a GF... I like the sound of that!
WC at the G....
Thanks

Having walked out of Launceston 5 weeks ago after an insipid display, I didn’t expect finals footy so I’m bloody pleased this great club has got there again, what a pleasure it is to support Hawthorn.

Obviously want the double chance to go as deep as possible as 1 win sees us in a preliminary final. Did not expect to even have that chance at a number of stages this year.

But knocking out allegedly the greatest midfield of all time would be very sweet. Reckon that mob is like us in ‘16. Just going.

Don’t care, I’m happy to be in another finals series. What a club

If we lose ( hypothetical because we will beat the swans ! )from what I see it comes to down to what Melbourne does in their games
If they
Win 1 - we play them
Win 2 - we play GWS
Lose both - we get the cats
