Taking into account that I expect a high standard from our top 3 players: Selwood, Dangerfield, Enright, I think this September could be a period where Dan Menzel stamps himself and showcases his talents. He is a difficult match up and often hits the scoreboard. Hawkins is the obvious avenue to goal but if Menzel can play a solid support role I think it will go a long way towards ensuring Geelong get to the first Saturday in October!

So who is the player you think is the Cats wildcard for the finals series?

Stanley. At his best, an impossible matchup. Good mark, genuine speed, goal sense, ruck work.
Like you, my selection is MENZEL; said that elsewhere, but as an option, Stanley.

Hawkins can play the decoy. Was watching the replay of cats vs saints from this year and Linc McCarthy had a ripping game. He could snag a few

Hawk is my finals wildcard

2009 a young Hawk kicked a couple of crucial goals (as dubious as one was)
2011 he had a huge finals series, was great every game
2014 he almost singlehandedly got us over the line against North exploding in the last quarter

He kicked a bag against the Dees and will be feeling great about life in general of late... look out
The big man could carry us to a flag :thumbsu:

Rhys Stanley. No ruckman is capable of going with him.

If he goes forward and starts converting those clunked marks into goals, look out.

If he starts clunking marks like he did a few weeks back at KP he could tear a game to shreds

I will go the flip side and say Taylor - I feel his season has been gathering momentum and he has a history of great moments on great occasions. Could be the difference in a close final.

I fear it will be the same old story though - our second tier mids will be make or break for our finals campaign. Here's to hoping one or two of them can step up

The Smith and Stanley combo will have a couple of massive games between them and show that good big men are the key for finals

Mitch Duncan. Best kick in the comp, a bevvy of elite ball winners getting it out to him. Probobly hoping for to much since he's horribly put of form, but it would be great.
