Footy players punch up bombshell

Clearly not expecting? So he expected to throw a billiard ball as hard as he did, stand outside, see a mate of the bloke he pegged the ball at and not expect something? Well, then maybe he should be housebound for utter stupidity.

Much bigger? Go some vital stats on both men? Voss is 6 foot nothin.

I'm not saying the guy didn't warrant getting punched. He didn't expect it though, he still had one hand in his pocket. If you can't see in the footage how much bigger Voss is than the guy he hit then you need your eyes checked. In a minute you'll be telling me the girl Gehrig pushed was huge as well.

Well said buddy. This country is turning into a latte sipping do-gooder paradise. Vossy did what most of us would do. To say it harms his coaching aspirations! Why? Cause he punched a moron who threw a pool ball at his mate?

How about we all get over ourselves and get on with it. Every public figure in society must be frozen with fear every time they speak or act in public just in case they offend some insignificant minority group that has nothing better to do than hang onto every word and action to see if it offends them so they can then complain about it. Our country is full of sooks and whingers. Some people it seems live just to bring people down. Every political decision, every newspaper article is whinged about by someone.

Guess what- throw a pool ball at someone and you need to get belted.

Re: The G Train pushing a woman

A guided punch hits its intended target. A hastily thrown billiard ball... not so much. Significant difference.

Exactly, thus highlighting the danger of a guided punch, it hits its target...

Lets be honest, Lawrence has many psyche issues, he seems like a pure nut.

The worst thing the rest of the group did that night, was be associated with him. The rest is pure run of the mill normal pub stuff.

Agreed.

Would you have preferred Vossy asked him politely to take his hand out of his pocket first?

Which makes the other bloke an idiot for acting like a dill around blokes bigger than him. You would imagine if you were small in stature, you'd sit back and mind your own business.

He was probably one of them little yappy fellas that annoy everyone.

Re: Gherig should be sacked

I hate to admit it, but I actually know they guy who through the billiard ball.

This behaviour isn't out of the ordinary for him.

Well that was certainly an interesting sidestep you've made there. So I take it you're not adverse to a violent act that may impact on someone who's in no way involved or provoked such a response? Relative to a simple punch, I mean.

I'd have preferred he didn't hit him. Just because the guy deserves to get punched doesn't mean you do it.

You've obviously never been in a situation like that then. I imagine that Voss is very, very close to Lambert. When someone does that to a good mate you punch them. What would you do if it happened to a good mate or family member? Give them a good telling off and point your finger.

So Voss' defence should be that the guy was a little yappy fella who annoyed him or that he was retaliating because the guy through a pool ball at his mate?

No, you write a sternly worded letter to the establishment at which the incident took place, and maybe if you get chummy enough with him at the end of the night, also send it to him.

I've been in very similar situations before. The sticking up for your mate defence when you go out and start a fight with the guy your mate was fighting earlier doesn't stand up well in court.

No he should have been ejected by bouncers, and Lambert could have contacted police who would have charged the guy after viewing the CCTV footage.

Instead they have been charged with assault because they stupidly took the law into their own hands (or fists!).

So! The -I just sat back and watched you get smashed in the head by a billiard ball by that moron and quietly finished my beer and went home defence doesn't stand up well with your mates.

Huh? I didn't see Voss step in and stop the guy throwing the pool ball, I saw him go outside after it was all said and done and hit him. Big difference.

Hallelujah - a voice of reason! This is as simple as it gets.

Fine go ahead and do it, stick up for your mate, even up the score, whatever. Just don't whine about it when you find yourself in front of a magistrate because it ain't self defence at that time and the courts frown upon blokes who do this sort of stuff. The billiard ball thrower is weak as pi55 for his actions but so is Vossy for sniping. And lawrence what a pi55 weak bloke he is. Anyone can throw a king hit when you are not watching.

Sorry LL, but nothing is ever that simple.

I can't believe that anyone would sit back after an act that could have easily killed a mate and not be furious about it. Anyone taking the moral high ground should think about the difference between what they think they think is right to do and what they might actually do. How would you react if someone attacked a family member? The truth is you really don't know until you're in that situation.

Just like that moron that Brogan punched, he deserved it. Whether it was a smart thing to do in the bigger scheme of things is debatable.

Exactly. of course it's better for you and all concerned to walk away but you cant and shouldn't.
