Autopsy Fremantle lose to Dees by 54pts

Really just got beaten at the contest all day. Hard to cover Sandilands, Fyfe and Blakely out.

Still commit too many numbers to the ball and are shit at finding targets on the outside, but that won't change until the coach does.

Apeness was sucking it in big time from about 15 mins into the game. May just need a break.

Tucker not cited.

They walked it out of the middle but I felt our defence battled hard considering.

No obvious ins next week.

We have injuries to key players, the young players are tiring, our injury list is forcing us to play players out of form or no ready for AFL .

The next few weeks could be difficult to watch.

Does anyone give a shit any more for the rest of this season? We'd lose to Carlton on current form.

I don't think a game against a Top 8 side where we didn't have Fyfe / Blakely in the middle, had 2 players returning to AFL from lengthy injuries and a bunch of kids playing their first game in Darwin in tough conditions is worth complaining about, let alone is worth derailing the rest of the season over.

Need to ‘gift’ some others some games just so they have something to work towards.

A couple of games for North and Strnadica for development. Look to get Crowden back in. Bennell could play 15mjns and may possibly do more than Tucker.

Need to stay positive and enjoy small things from the youngsters.

Yeah I reckon this sums it up.
We’re getting torched for possession, our rucks are not match fit, playing against the AA ruckman and we’re not strong enough at this stage

Not looking great though when you consider our fixture list. Besides CarlTank you could make a fair argument that Melbourne on current form are the weakest side we'll come up against in the next 7...

How much longer can we persist with Tucker being totally anonymous on the footy field? He has all the makings of being a really serious midfielder but he just can't find the footy. Really, really disappointing. Sheridan's field kicking is dubious at best but his kicking for goal is very good , he needs to continue to work on finding his niche in the team.

Mundy and Neale are trying hard under difficult circumstances, although it’s clear the latter probably isn’t impacting games in the manner he could.

Can’t really hold Giro, Cerra, Brayshaw or even Banfield to account too harshly - Cox worked his way in, Darcy had his first game back but I agree things are starting to look pretty bad for Tucker and Hughes; just don’t ever really look like making it.

Our defence has dropped massively in output too - there’s a real lack of cohesion and leadership, A. Pearce is well off and even Ryan and Wilson are struggling to find targets. If they’d kicked straight it could have been a 20 goal game for the Dees.

I am a little concerned about Apeness as well - he’s certainly working hard around the ground but seems to have almost no impact in the forward line. He was drafted as a key forward.. I guess it’s a matter of patience and perseverance ala Tabs and Cox. I dare say he’s not doing too much time in forward during the training sims.

Walters. Bhill and Matera all a bit off too.

We need about 5-6 seniors to start stepping up and we’ll see our performances improving all round.

Well a few weeks ago we discovered that Blakely is a midfielder, not a half back flanker. Tonight we may have discovered the same thing about Stephen Hill. Who knew?

Yeah we missed Blakely.
If anything it’s really firming up what we’ll look like next year.

A midfield group that has Fyfe, Neale, Two Hills, Langdon and Blakely. Cerra and Brayshaw rotating through.
Though Darcy competed really well against Gawn given his limited tank.

Backs with the two big keys, possibly McGovern, Logue Wilson and Ryan.

Cerrra is the best thing we have seen at this club in years
The Hills were good
Kersten is doing well down back
Darcy first game, not bad
Wilson and Ryan, not bad

Giro is going to be a Kane Mitchell. He just has no body for AFL and nothing spectacular enough to compensate. He tries his guts out but isn't going to make it.
Tucker and Matera were woeful, off to the wafl with them both

I wouldn’t worry about Giro. If he’s used the ball as well as he has over the last few weeks he’d have had a good game.

The interview after the game with the Brayshaw bros showed how far behind the young bros is in conditionong. A few more pre seasons for all the youngsters before they reach their potential. Going to be a tough wait.

Yeah Giro's ball use stood out pretty badly tonight, although at least he's taking risks and you know he has the right idea in mind but the execution by foot was just not there tonight, his handballs were still good today. The overall skills of the entire squad made me not make Giro's performance particularly noteworthy.

Also to quote Brayshaw after the game re; conditions "One of the hardest games of football I've ever had to play"

So yeah, not concerned about Giro considering how hard it would of been on someone like him who would of had more pressure considering his role.

Lucky not to lose that one by much, much more. 78 inside 50's to 28 and 37 scoring shots to 13. Pretty much expected it though.

Ultimately I think games like this just show how far off we really are. Our current crop is obviously miles off it and we are going to need to rely on our youth to be our main source of improvement. At least with the midfield we largely have our guys (minus an explosive Rayner/Treloar/Danger type) and just have to have to wait it out the 2-3 years for Brayshaw/Cerra get to 22/23.

Besides Walters and perhaps Tabs/Cox we seemingly don't even have the forward line guys in the door yet. If our KPF aren't going to be stars (which Tabs/Cox aren't) we need a whole host of elite mid/small sized guys. I've got no idea where they are coming from right now...

Well, that was lit. :fire:
