Yeah, Ballas. Can you get a free kick and 50 from the coin toss? Surely has to be considered then...

I'd almost give it to mundy just to help him stay in the state a little longer rather than be tempted by free agency.
Well, Mundy never gets mentioned when it comes to leadership. And he did not go home when alot of people expected him to go. Probably got a very good contract, but still makes me fell comfortable...

God help me but I'd really like to see Hill as our next captain. Just love his work ethic and how down to earth he seems. Of course he'd have to develop some actual leadership skills first.

People will follow someone who gives their all, cares deeply about a result and behaves with integrity/sincerity/honesty, no matter how little they say but all the other bullshit that goes with being an AFL captain would be a bit much for the golden child methinks.

Pretty sure the players call him "Humphrey" because he barely speaks! So not sure how captaincy will go for him...

I'm not sure who should be our next captain. The Pav stands up in great captain style in huge games when needed (i.e: Elimination Final), however I can't really pick anyone else who is likely to replace him in that regard. Perhaps Fyfe. I still like de Boer as our next captain, or even Barlow.

If MDB's place as a regular 22 player is certain then I would think it would be him in maybe 2014 or 2015 onwards. His role on the field seems to be a bit uncertain to us ATM so that is the only question going forward with competition for spots but he would be a leader much like Kirk at Sydney, extremely well spoken and up for all the other off field stuff.

Nick Maxwell will probably lose the Captaincy at Collingwood this year if for nothing else but it is unsure if he is best 22 anymore.
Fyfe I would have as VC unless MDB is not chosen - still seems to handle himself pretty well in front of a camera etc.

Umpire: "Your call Hilly"
*coin thrown in air*
Umpire: "Hilly... whats your call, speak up..."
*coin lands on floor*
Hilly: "ummm yeah. Heads"

Or if Mundy was made captain. Memories would go bonkers.

Memories would find a perfectly flawed explanation for why he was actually right.

I think ballas would be ruined by the captaincy. I think players who are so instinctive can sometimes go into their shells a bit and feel like they have to be more disciplined, play the percentages rather than just go for it.

Would love Hilly as captain though, I think he would be excellent, not as a disciplinarian but as a leader by what he does. I can really see it helping to push him to the next level. And for indigenous boys at the club, would probably be that little cherry on the cake. I dont love the idea of throwing it to Fyfe just cos he is the best player or to ward off free agency, if it went to him I hope it would be for what he does not what he is.

You is what you does ;)

I reckon Mick Barlow is a good potential captain choice. Reasons:
- He's an inside midfielder that gets plenty of ball / leads from the front;
- He's definitely best 22 so will always play / be there to lead;
- He appears to be a fair minded sportsman & generally doesn't get suspended;
- He interviews well & speaks with some wit;
- He was admirable in the way he worked through a serious injury.

I think Frodo would make a very entertaining captain don't know how the rest of the league would take it though. It would be hilarious seeing him jumping up and down doing his victory dance on the premiership podium with the cup lifted above his head.
