Saints tried to shaft Essendon and get Carlilse on the cheap but Dodoro wanted pick 5 and didn't budge until he got it. Freo needs to do the same and demand the Saints 2 first round picks in return.
It's not all about having the best players. Look at Sydney, there midfield has Luke Parker, Dan Hannebery and Josh Kennedy in it and they haven't won a game. Saint Kilda are just as good as us if not better and they don't have Fyfe. Like i said before if you take Fyfe from our team and put him on their team they are a much better team then us.
That's what makes them an attractive destination.
taking fyfe out of the equation. if you ask saints fans, they think their list is better. if you ask freo fans, they think their list is better.
the question is what does Fyfe think? personally i dont think the list is the defining criteria on how he makes his decision, but if it was and you were looking at it purely from fyfes perspective i think he would care more about what list will allow him to play the best football, the rest is a nice to have. i think for fyfe to play his best football he would want good inside mids to play with him. its similar to the selwood situation at geelong, when selwood lost the players around him, suddenly he was the sole target of the opposition. he wore the tag week in/week out, he was targetted physically at every stoppage and around the ground. it wears you down and the worst part of it, is when you're not playing your best football it affects your brand. look at how goddard and thomas fell from grace after being touted superstars in 2010. the wear and tear can shorten careers, daniel kerr is one example of this.
so what i think Fyfe needs from a list perspective are strong damaging inside mids around him. the more the better. that way clubs wont just go to him every week and if they do he has the protection around him to block/chop out etc.
it also means Fyfe would then have the flexibility to potentially play outside or on the flank, if he has a niggle or two. see how danger played fwd in weeks gone by after getting a nasty corky, without affecting his teams performance that much
good inside mids dont grow on trees. they're not that easy to find and they take a while to develop. blakely is a good example of this, he's a great young developing inside mid that i would argue has the potential to be one of the games best. but right now he's being used in a run with role, similar to what we did with ross in previous seasons. it often takes 4-5 seasons for them to get going. kennedy another example of this at sydney. its just such a hard position to play and it takes an incredible toll on the body.

Cant agree, the Saints are still average. Their mids are plodders.Name their A graders.
We're just lowly freemantle supporters.WHAT DID I JUST SAY
Par for the course with him I've noticed.
I mean, who builds their entire internet persona around being a spelling and grammar nazi? Must be fun at parties.
Is this the same though? The pull was strong as Dangerfield wanted to go home (same goes with Judd to Carlton a few years back). I think it's hard for clubs to stand up against players that want to go home (to be closer to their family), especially when they've done their dues to the point of becoming a free agent but even when they haven't (except GWS with Cam). A few years back we tried to trade but then ended up delisting Roberton so he could get home to his family and you got him for nothing and he's probably been your best player this year so far. You're welcome btw.I think in terms of a trade IF required the " Dangerfield " trade between Adelaide/ Geelong sets the requirement.
So you want to absolutely bend us over for. Top 2 player in the league then? Yeah sorry mate that won't happen. If he requests a trade to you blokes you can bank on Ameet caving and giving us multiple first rounders.I think in terms of a trade IF required the " Dangerfield " trade between Adelaide/ Geelong sets the requirement.
What's interesting is that through this circus we've atleast confirmed we have a big offer on the table to Fyfe and that's there's atleast concern he might move
Interesting to hear McClure/Darcy say that the club acquiring fyfe will be told of his intentions to join their club around now so that they can plan the cap. That tells me we are not far off from knowing what Fyfe will do. Be it stay or go. Probably 4-5 rounds max.
Fremantle will be the lagging indicator here. They'll be the last to know of the three parties.
I did find them moving on walters etc. recently interesting. Hawthorn started to do similar stuff from the mid way mark once they gave up on buddy
Also I think the attention fyfe has received from opposition teams this year has been very interesting. Especially the weekends derby game. Basically teams are tagging him and targeting him physically. Theyre using a number of players to work him over. I think they've identified that if they wear down fyfe physically and shut down Mundy influence then the freo midfield becomes very non effectual. Given Mundy is near retirement I think fyfe will need to seriously consider if he wants to be battling through that attention for the next 5-6 years. Which hurts fyfe brand. If he's not performing on field he no longer has that star value. Look what's happened to beej and Daisy Thomas from 2010 in that regard. Fyfe would be one who wants a Brownlow and the attention to drive his $$$
Neale has now been exposed as a bit part mid. He really doesn't help fyfe in this regard with teams preferring Neale to have the ball in hand especially in the back half due to his poor disposal. Blakely is still somewhat off attracting attention given hes used in a shut down role himself. Look what happened to Selwood pre Danger and the affect on Danger and Selwood game when they were both in the same midfield.
Where as if fyfe comes to St kilda teams will have to choose between tagging/paying attention to steven/Ross plus with the growth of someone like acres or stevens or Newnes or roberton that number could grow
Jack Steven, Nick Riewoldt, Seb Ross is a B grader but will likely be A grade, same with Jack Steele, Josh Bruce, Billings, Membrey Carlisle etc. I'm not here to argue about who's list is better but Salim, you're extremely bias towards our players which is fine, but don't have a dig at somebody else's opinion. It's not wrong for a Fremantle supporter to have a different opinion to you. I agree with jakefooty23, you take Fyfe out of our team and add him to St Kilda's and we would finish just about dead last whilst they would likely climb up the ladder. Which is part of the reason why I think a future first round pick would be a a slap in the face.Cant agree, the Saints are still average. Their mids are plodders.Name their A graders.

Nobody will be forced out ty.I think if it happens, a trade will get done because it will have to be done .
Im not sure how many clubs could afford 1.5 million per year and if you guys match it then good luck , maybe one or two players will get forced out .
We're already paying him $800-900k a year. We only have to come up with another $400k or so. Which the salary cap increase should allow for without much trouble.I think if it happens, a trade will get done because it will have to be done .

If Neale is an A grader then Jack Steven is an A grader, Riewoldt is also an A grader. By the way you seem to rate the Saints you better hope we flog them by 10 goals....

Also doubtful that we will be paying him $1.5million. I'm thinking $1.2-1.3 million. You guys would have to pay more to try and lure him, that's why the 1.5 figure is being spouted.

He is playing more as mid winger now.Nick R is not a mid .

What about me thinking as peel supporter with alignment with freo ?Its not a dig ,its opposing views. If we all thought the same way we would be Eagle supporters.

toward the end if you look back why spend time 6 match into the season talking about something might or might not happen .Exactly how it works , our contract for employment is 1.5mill ( our set value) and if your contract offer is 1.2 -1.3 mill ( your set value ) .....it goes to a trade ( if thats Fyfes decision to leave ) if the clubs cant agree it goes to afl who will help mediate .
A trade will get done whether both clubs are happy or not.
