Not for me. I'm just not that into Swallow and suspect he has limited games left in him and dont think he brings much to the group that we dont already have. I would rather use our pick 21 to back up the past couple of years drafts with a quality young mid and it would appear there will be some good ones on the table this year.

I guess that's my point. If getting Swallow for an early second-rounder doesn't appeal, you have to ask if we even want him. And it's hard to imagine GC accepting less.

I would be happy to use the Gold Coast pick to get Kelly if we could. I know Geelong would consider him worth more than that but if he is set on returning to the west that would be the best they could get unless Freo gave them their first round which would be about #5.

I don't think Kelly comes that cheaply this year. Probably not next year either.

We have more chance on Coniglio than Kelly.

Why would Kelly want to come to a club that overlooked him a couple of times? Geelong took a chance on him, I am sure he wants to repay their faith.

Even so I think it's highly unlikely Coniglio would want to return home. Seems like the ultimate professional that is able to play at an elite level at any club in the land. I think he'll be a one club player.

If that was the case he would have extended his contract already, his family want him back in WA so its very possible he will return .

I hear what you're saying but it hasn't affected his ability to play footy. If he had of done an ACL instead, then yeah definitely. Players get a match bonus for games played, Gaff will be losing money by missing the remainder of the season.

If Swallow requested a trade to us at the end of this season, would you be happy if we gave GC back their second-rounder (pick 20-21?) in return? That's roughly on par with what we gave up to get Redden, who was 24 turning 25 at the time. Swallow is 25 turning 26.

Not a fan of Swallow, would rather get game time in the young mids we already have. Swallow has not become the player I thought he would, similar to Rich from lions.

I didn't think that the top end players got match payments. I don't think Gaff would be on match payments now or on his new contract.

Also I never said it affected his ability to play footy.

Footy isn't just footy. It's a business. Benny C could play cracked out, the business side of the game wouldn't allow it.

I feel that for Gaff the PR side of things right now would be worse than they were two weeks back. I think clubs may take this into account when signing players.

I'm not sure it's enough for a team trying to attract a player to down grade their offer though, which is essentially my question regarding a discount.

i saw gaff once at the subway in rivervale. i was the only who recognised him. no one else did. a good 20 odd people were there and this was in 2014.

then you have the fridge who was everywhere at one point.

Yeah games missed I agree wouldn't by a biggie. But if I were the one offering him a contract, no doubt I would try to use the incident as leverage to reduce the $ I would be paying.

On what basis would you that to him?

He's been a clean skin for 8 years.
Any attempt to do that would probably result in him telling you to shove it.
And rightly so IMO.
