Also dislike the delay in getting the sub on some matches.

Halfway through the 4th quarter is useless IMO.

It is a risk to go too early in case of the prime reason for the sub, injury. As for people saying that it shouldn't be a forward etc, it doesn't really matter if the player isn't a pure utility as positional changes can be made to suit.

I think fame has gotten to Jetta head a bit avoids contact and likes to do the one in a million stuff needs to extract the digit, and for ****s sake stop using Morton as a sub he is not a impact/flashy player he needs to play the full game.

That tackle he missed in the last qtr was pathetic. You don't expect those efforts from an afl player.

I agree but a flaw with the sub in the Hawks game was LRT had stayed at home in the forward line most of the day bar a few minutes of the third. Hodge was manning him up and stuck with him and wasn't over fatigued. A player of Hodge's class than picked up Morton, who didn't really have any impact. It would be better for the sub to be utilised in a position to use his fresher legs, in this case it wasn't used to the optimum.

J_Moore pointed out that the set up at the centre for the last two bounces was entirely offensive which meant as soon as the ball went to Sewell there was no one there to stop him. Had another look and this is true, but don't know how to feel about it. One of the common cries when a team is up is that they should keep attacking and not try and stem the game, it just blew up last night pretty badly.

This is true when there's 10 minutes left in the game. Not so sure about when there's 2 minutes left.

Of greater concern is that our "offensive" set up seems to leave no margin for error (see the first quarter against the Dogs last week). If we don't definitively win the tap straight down to a midfielder (and our ruckmen aren't amazing in this department), then the Swans don't seem to get their hands on the ball.

Jetta is in need of a rest something several of our players could use and should either be subbed off, start as the sub or be rested from the game completely. Starting as the sub could hurt his confidence so im in favour of the last option. Its a pity we didnt take the oportunity to rest players last week when we played the Bulldogs, we didnt even use the sub when we knew we had the game won we still waited for an injury to happen.

If Morton is selected to play next week and i hope he is he must be in the starting team and not the sub. The sub is a position i believe should be reserved for ball carriers like Everitt, Armstrong or mabe Bird who are also capable of kicking goals or setting them up not impact players like TDL and Morton who could have very limited oportunities late in the game.

The sub should not be the same person every week something i believe Geelong did last year alowing players to maintain form fitness and have small breaks during the year. Selecting the same plaer every week hurts their confidence and fitness pushing them out of the team completely. Parker needs to rediscover the form he was showng pre injury something i believe he is close to doing and needs game time to do it and for that reason shouldnt be the sub.

EDIT: Thought I'd move this here\start new thread for on topic discussion about structures etc leading up to the finals. Thoughts and discussion sought.

I'm more worried by Longmire's ongoing reluctance to man up the oppositions free man in defence.

Adds an extra body against Reid in the marking contest, but also leaves another man free to contest forward entries\shots on goals from our midfielders. These missing goals are crucial to us building up a winning score.

Stop leaving the free man Horse!!

This year our game plan has revolved heavily around a couple of things...

1) leaving huge open spaces in our forward 50 for us to take advantage of with a fast break.

2) Having enough players hanging back in the middle of the paddock to very quickly transition from attack to defense when needed.

Having an extra man in our forward line goes against what we're trying to achieve. When you add that to the fact that ROK going back as our own spare man in defence is actually pretty effective itself and I don't think this is as big a problem as it may appear.

Yeah, we've struggled when the opposition start winning the hitouts in recent weeks.

Agree Jetta looking tired + opposition putting more focus on him and closing him down, Shaw has had a cracking season, a punt may be is allow him and Jetta tandem, allow Shaw into mid field area and spread similar to Jetta, teams are trying to minimize Shaws dash from the back line, this may help over come both these issues and put further pressure on opposing teams.

Roger that.

This is not the EPL! Where the forward comes on for a 10 minute all or nothing jobbie - and hopes to get on the end of some long ball bollocks.
The forward should start... then suffer a subing out if nowts doing. We have to many manufactured types toiling about goal. And if your still unsure have a look at that Freo Blowhard Ballantyne doing the business to the Norf nongs yesterday FFS!
