This is some of the things I believe we should try:

Glass v Neitz
Carrol v Holland
Jones v Bruce (his attak has been zero recently so just make him climb on the back of Bruce and sit there for the game)
Embley v Yze
Wirrpunda v Davey
McDougall v Miller

There's grunt in Glass, Carroll and Embley. Height in Glass, Carroll and Dougs. Run in Wirrpunda and Embley. Skills in Wirrpunda, Emley and Dougs. And then there's Jones who needs to be the human clamp this weekend.

I think if we can contain these six above our midfield of Cox, Kerr, Judd, Cuz, Braun, Sampi, Fletcher will give us first use of the pill on most occassions.

With Matera, Gaspar, Adkins, Seaby, the newly included Butler in the forward line I think the side could manage at least 15 goals to be denfended by our back 6.

I find the idea that you think Carroll can provide some 'grunt' quite amusing.

The ruck is the problem, I think Jeff White will be too mobile for Cox and Seaby. We need someone to take him out, like Green did in this game last year.

Who would have thought at the start of the year that we would be big underdogs going into this game?

We are gone

over and out

Embley v Bruce seems most appropriate, Embers has showed a bit at training this week to ensure he would be first man picked :D

we will kick over 15 goals.

dont worry about that!!

i thought last week proved to everyone what kinda scoring power we have!!

we pretty much have a forward line, where if 1 or 2 blokes dont fire, others will.

the only win we have had this year was against the doggies, but we kicked 12.25... so we had plenty of chances, the hawthorn game i have written off, that game was a one off.... the rest of our losses will be competitve.

also remember, we do have the most inside 50's of any side. so our forwards get plenty of chances :D

you may well kick 15 gaols but as shown in our games earlier this season we are more than capable of comign out and kicking 22 + goals

i hope this game turns into a shootout because we will then always be a good chance in a shootout.

Jones is horribly out of form so I dont know if I would put him on the in form Bruce. Throw Embley on him, he did a great job on Pavlich last week so I think he can handle Bruce.

Glass is the obvious choice for Nietz and if that goes wrong then god forbid it will have to be Carroll? That could get ugly so Glass better do the job.

i don't think Embley should be used as a tagger (only occassionally to stop pavlich types - where we have no other matchup) he is one of our most attacking players and should not be wasted tagging an opp player

i'd be willing to put money on nietz having more than 1 opponent for the game

i'd also be willing to put money on him kicking a bag full

matera is the tricky one for us to match up one

probably nathan brown who is in good form will go to him

I dont think he should be a full time tagger, just a head to head type player. Embers didnt really tag Pavlich on the weekend but just went head to head with him and Pavlich lowered his colours. If Embers can do that against Bruce, well it would help.

Well Tredrea kicked 5, Rawlings 7, Lloyd 8, Fevola kicked a few too so we have had trouble against good tall forward this season but then again, Glass didnt play in any of those games.

i'd rate nietz as better than those key forwards you listed this season except for tredrae

when i say EXCEPT for tredrae i am not going to compare the two coz they play totally different styles

The guys who can win or lose this game for us are Cox, Glass and McDougall- all have pretty tough assignments, and if all three get clearly beaten by their opponents we'll lose by a pretty large margin.

If Cox can get on top in the ruck, it breaks the shackles on our midfield. That alone can win the game for us. Give Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Fletcher the quality and quantity of possessions they need to do their jobs, and whatever else happens around the ground we'll probably win- in a free flowing game where we're winning it out of the centre, we're virtually impossible to beat. The good news is that we have a few guys who have tended to play blinders against Melbourne, most notably Judd and Matera, so if the game is freeflowing we'll have the firepower to take them apart.

If we don't get that sort of effort from Cox, suddenly it becomes a lot more tricky. Glass becomes vital- if Neitz is getting a decent amount of delivery, unless Glass plays a good stopping game we're buggered. At the other end, we need to get enough from McDougall and Gaspar to prevent the ball from being run out of defence easily, and allow us to make the most out of each attacking foray. 5 or more consecutive possessions inside our forward line almost always results in a scoring shot to us because Samps and Matera are so good at ground level- so we have to give contests, prevent the defence from marking it and convince them to go for the line. One of the things that opposition teams are just beginning to twig to is that fisting the ball out of play in West Coasts forward line is a win for us, simply because we have so many dangerous options when the ball is thrown in.

We can get the 4 points but it'll take some good individual performances. To win it outright in convincing fashion, Cox must get on top in the ruck, otherwise it will be an arm wrestle, where Melb will have the advantage, although good individual efforts around the ground could snatch it for us. If Melb get on top out of the centre, we'll get smashed.

What a ridiculous statement. Are you even an Eagles supporter? I'm guessing your also fairly young and havent watched too much footy.

I remember in 1992 we started the year we were 2 wins from 7 games. We had only beaten St Kilda who were pathetic and sneaked past Richmond by 1 point in a game we should have lost.... we got beaten by Fitzroy... and could only manage a draw against possibly the worst AFL side ever the Brisbane Bears. We we written off as no chance... yet ended up winning the flag.

Just being realistic, a bit like Mark Viduka not bothering to turn up to play for his country.

Another ridiculous statement. I think you are confusing him for Harry Kewell because as far as I am concerned Viduka has made himself available for almost every single Australia game. He missed the one before last because his dad was gravely ill and he had only just flown 24 hours on a plane to England from Australia and had a Leeds game the next day or so. Viduka earned that break but ASA had to enforce the suspension to show they had balls.

Yeah, then he threatens to resign from international soccer. What a tosser. So what if he had just visited his sick father? Didn't stop him playing for Leeds. What his decision boiled down to is that he would rather his English premier league team wasn't relegated than play for his country. Well, guess what? He got suspended and Leeds still sucks. You're making excuses for him, just like you're making excuses for our team. We are 2-4, playing badly and up against a team that is 5-1 and with probably the youngest lineup in the history of our great club. As a fan, I have ever right to say that we won't win. Deal with it.

You really are lost aren't you. He never threatened to resign from international soccer. In fact quite the opposite... he said he understood their decision and copped it on the chin. Its Kewell who is the crybaby who keeps threatening to quit.

You're no better than the Richmond scum who spitted on his own players. I bet you were also one of the Eagles supporters who boo'd one of my fav players Fraser Gehrig as well.

How you equate me writing 'we are gone' with hanging out at the player racers after the game to spit on Danny Frawley I'll never know. Then again, nothing else you have said has made much sense. Get a grip _Dudd.

LOL. You really are quite the bigfooty lunatic. Weren't you the one that wanted to trade Wirrpunda for Kepler Bradley? Hehe, Moron.

I am finished with your azz.
