Terry said at his weekly "Tuesdays with Terry" that he doesnt think that Gaspar will get through training tomorrow. Gaspar has Cartlidge damage to the knee and if he doesnt get through training tomorrow his season could be over, And as Gaspar doesnt have a contract for next season, this could spell the end to his career at Punt Road.

As the hard nosed Pommie biatch in the movie "The Beach" said when she found out the Irish dude had topped himself:

"He was one of the founders of our colony. That sure is sad news".

If its the case where we cut him, i am confident that he will go to another club. That is if he elects to continue his career. Opposition coaches arent blind, he gets the job done on the big gorillas, and the proof of what you get when you havent a gas at FB, is the G-train last saturday. ;)

fully agree, No doubt he will be picked up , with no obvious replacment we would be crazy to cut him

With Thirsty coming back from a knee, we would still need Gas for another year I think. The only other replacement could be McGuane, but he still looks a little while off.

LMAO, yeah it kind of follows the while off they talk of when they talk about people living on mars. ;)

That is what the G-train was saying when the news hit that Gas wasnt starting. I would even bet that the picture you have, is a snippet of the G-train pouring the next one for reiwoldt, before the game as they celebrate their assault on the brownlow count that was about to unfold, seeing that reiwoldt was going to be fronting up against the stopper to end all stoppers, Bowden too. Its uncanny how our "best" & fairest gets pantsed when he comes up against the "best" huh? Or maybe B2 or whatever they call the other Bowden, was found lacking when the "new" dimension, that he brought to the team was required too i guess. ;)

We'd be a bit stupid not to renew Gas. Especially as he is veteran listed.

If Terry was going to cut Gas he wouldnt be backing him in as our Full back. I'd suggest one year deals from here on in.

Kelvin. Let me ask you this. Would you actually rather Ray Hall taking the Fraser Gehrigs and Barry Halls over Darren Gaspar? Because as CoggaRules pointed out, thats what happens when he is out.

Thursfield will be a star, but Gas is still very important, especially with Will coming off a major injury.

Gas must play on. He's still our ONLY genuine stopper of a key forward. So many people are quick to forget what he's done at this club. His skills may have let him down at times but he rarely, if ever, gets pantsed like Ray Hall did on Saturday. He frees up Bowden to play the quarterback role for us and takes pressure off Kella and Hall. McGuane is light years from playing as a key back and Thursfield needs time coming off a knee. Schulz is definitely a forward and Moore probably won't be here next year. Who else does that leave? Nobody.

Very good post duckboy, especially the point about freeing up Bowden.

The only forward that has made him his bitch through his career is Matthew Lloyd, and Tony Locket used to give him a run-around as well.... two of the games greatest forwards.

Very important we have him back next year. Wouldnt have said that after round one or in the early parts of the season but he has lifted his head and is playing good football. If his career were to end this season I would be very disapointed and it would set our club backwards rather than forwards I believe.

I swear you live in you're own world Cogga. You'll have to explain to me WTF you're talking about here

Makes a lot of sense to keep him on for another season if fit. Won't take up a spot on the list being a veteran, will be on greatly reduced wages, and provides good insurance if our other key defensive players struggle or get injured.

I'd be surprised if we could get anything in return for him as a trade, maybe a 4th round pick so he's going to be a lot more valuable to keep.

There is more to this. After listening to Plough on WLF last night it was obvious he HAS to get up for this week or his season is over and possibly his career. In a nutshell.....why? You wouldnt think he'd be talking that way if we had any intention of resigning him.

I noticed that too. He pulled no punches whatsoever did he? Question is if he can't come up this week, why is his season finished? Does he need surgery or something? All seemed a bit strange to me.

you suggested that Mcguane is a "while off", well that "while off" equates to the "while off" they talk about when they talk about people living on mars. ;)

LMAO, insurance for what? Can you please illuminate us on the "key" defenders that he will be providing insurance for? Ummm, oh i get it, Thursfield huh? Ok, i had to think long and hard when looking at the list, really had trouble selecting from the abundance of "key" defenders we have that dont struggle, when they are thought of as "key defenders". ;)

I have read one report that he didn't train and will be having surgery so I guess it'll probably be wait until October and see what is happening.
