Review Gather Round, 2025 vs Hawthorn (and umps)

Has been a thing for years, generally around 24 hours after the game. Used to require a sign-in or Telstra account but is now public. I usually download our wins to beat boredom in the offseason.
You can go to the matches tab and go to filter or use drop down bar for previous ten years of match replays. Choose your team. The older matches of five years or more ago are in replay segmented by quarters. Streaming.

I've dipped back into depression now all the well wishes from other club supporters that hate Hawthorn etc. is starting to feel like it was our GF and an episode of the wittle club that could before regular programming resumes next week. Sack Daddy.
Don't worry. There will be another save Hinkley game probably after we get smashed in the showdown

My god! How dumb can this guy be? If we didn't actually know how dumb he is, you could be forgiven for thinking he's being deliberately obtuse by avoiding answering the actual question.
The question wasn't if you have the energy to coach, the question is if you're capable of coaching. Hey dumb dumb, jog on.

To be fair, that game was ****ing fun. About as fun as a H&A game can get.

Means nothing in the grander scheme of things, sack Ken etc etc, but if you can't enjoy a game like then you can't enjoy anything except a premiership, and at best we're gonna win one of them about once every 20 years so you should probably stop following footy entirely.

I’ve been critical of Rozee but he was good tonight playing mainly in defence. His stats were more of a mid with 28 disposals and 2 goals. Gave us lots of drive from defence and took nice marks.

You can’t question his talent it’s always been his application. I can see him spending more time in defence after tonight’s game.

A month into the disaster that was the 2022 season, he said himself he expected to be dropped to the SANFL such was his form playing predominantly as a forward.

Starting with the second half of the Carlton game in Round 5, he went into the middle fulltime and ended the year with his first All-Australian gong, Best & Fairest, Showdown Medal and Badcoe Medal.

It’s concerning that someone with such immense talent requires epic positional seachanges to get something approaching the most out of himself when he’s not performing well, but it’s a relief that lever is there when needed.

Pressure was going on Daddy, players had to respond.
They want a full year of Daddy’s farewell tour.
And when we lose against Sydney next week.

It’ll be like.

“football is a journey to be the best, to be No.1, we are still learning that journey.”

“It’s a tough game, but someone has the lose.”

“We are a good club but we want to be more of a club like the Sydney.”

“It was humid.”

Etc. etc. etc. etc…..

Special mention to Ollie Wines for his desperate chase on Dylan Moore in the last quarter, he ran as fast as I've ever seen him from one half-forward flank to the opposite half back flank to collar Moore when he'd been working his arse off all day as a clearance mid and back-up ruck. Wonderful stuff, it happened straight after the Mabior Chol goal with about 12 minutes left to play!

Still perplexed that was Ollie. Where did he get those jets from?!

Make no mistake Hawthorn and their fans would have been spewing all summer after Homer Simpson ended the unstoppable Hok-ball's season last year. All signs were pointing to them feasting on our carcass and getting their revenge. For Hawthorn to dish up what they did is nothing short of embarrassing.

I can enjoy a Ken sacking

And I can enjoy any game that doesn't have Ken coaching

Halfway through the 4th quarter, how does that happen?! Crows are the only ones hard done by though.View attachment 2283416

Yes, that sort of thing usually happens when the free kick count is lopsided at half time, despite all the protestations that the umpires don't check the stats, but it must've been pretty even at half time in this game.

I missed one, then. I thought it was 0-11.

But the umps are so bad that can’t even cheat right. E.g., Cochrane’s goal was during this run but only happened due a clear push in the back by JHF that went uncalled.

AFL officiating is practically a random exercise.

They don’t need to check. They might not know the exact count, but they have a sense how the calls went. It’s not difficult to adjust accordingly.

Yesterday, the issue was not the free count, but the scoreboard. The umpires made the match closer before starting calling frees for us again.

The NBA is known to do this, and the AFL clearly has been inspired by it. However, the NBA is a league where point differential is meaningless, and this is usually done in favor of the home team.

I can say that the AFL got its inspiration in the NBA because it has also copied the NBA’s star treatment. Still, the American “Coasts bias” is nothing compared to AFL’s “Vic-centrism”. The NBA at least recognizes stars all around the league.

The AFL copies a bad example and makes it even worse.
