Never thought much about the Eagles to be honest. Would certainly prefer a Freo flag. No brainer. Leinster must have plenty of Freagles hey?

Yep, there's plenty here with the odd smattering of others from the East (mainly Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn). It's funny, the townies are all pretty good natured about it, it's the fifo ones that are really rabid.
I love the Cats and love footy, I call things as I see them. It would be more likely that I'd get cranky with something Geelong players do in a game rather than what opponents do.
GF weekend, irrespective of the teams involved is my Christmas time. Has been every year for as long as I can remember. I'd work odd rosters so would work them out and book that week off 6 to 9 months in advance. When GF came around, everyone would bitch because I always seemed to have it off.

I think Geelong are still generally a well liked team by neutrals. They continue to play an attractive brand of football, and have a number of players that are good to watch. I think this weeks game day thread was a bit on anomaly. Freo were the underdog, so there was more support for them. On top of that the massive free kick differential in Geelong's favour, which coupled with the close final result made it easy to think Freo had been robbed. On top of this was SJs dive resulting in potential a game changing free and goal, these type of things have always made him one of the less liked Geelong players by non-cats fans. Selwood's 'I can't believe i'm not getting that free' pantomimes might also be rubbing people up the wrong way.

I'd be surprised if the majority of neutral fans wouldn't back Geelong over both Hawthorn and Sydney in a GF.

Because ducking for frees at every opportunity is such a goooooood look.

Yeah geelong play the game the way it should be played....lol

Except selwood doesn't 'duck'.

Instead, he shrugs his shoulders to break the tackle. Dustin Martin gives the dont argue to break (get out of tackles), selwood shrugs his shoulders to break the tackle. This is evidenced in that you almost always see selwood play on after the tackle has been broken.

Subans first qr free was a blatant duck. Ballantyne ducks. Pouplolo ducks. They duck to win frees, not to break tackles.

If the umps stopped paying them, it wouldn't affect selwood, as he breaks the tackle almost always.

But if the umps choose to keep paying them, maybe the tackler needs to be better.

The freo supporters are hilarious.

They are becoming known for being the biggest whingers in the AFL.

That, along with their club's disgustingly boring brand of footy, lack of success, unlikeable players (apart from probably fyfe and pav), they would have to be the least respected club in the AFL.

Freo getting more support on this thread from opposition supporters than Geelong though. :) Can't cheat and duck and expect respect.

Lulz

You live in the bigfooty world (see above post).

In the real world, Geelong has played an exciting brand of footy that has won it premierships and respect on and off the field in the entire sporting space.

On the other hand, your team plays unwatchable football that has lead to zero success, and minimal respect.

Try again.

lol. Hatred of teams on Bigfooty comes and goes like a change of wind.

Geelong are still admired out there in the real world.

Yup. Wasnt there an AFL survey just a few weeks ago that said Geelong were the most respected? And that has changed because they got a bunch of free kicks? Bigfooty is like 95% of the rest of the internet; everyone changes their mind and everyone voices their opinion as loud and as indignant as possible. Its why I find threads like this vastly amusing. Next week there will be another team to pick on, and the week after there will be another, etc etc.

This is true.

And freo will still have zero to crow about.

Haha given a hundred and fifty years, I'm sure Freo will be a little more advanced than your backwater club that has hardly advanced in the last 50 years. I'd hope in a hundred years we'd get more than 27000 supporters to a home game, a 40000 membership and a better nickname than pussies or handbaggers. Oh just wait, we already do. :D

Haha, we shall see in 150 years then.

Until then ill sit quite easy knowing that my club has been one of the most successful clubs since the AFL went national and from amateur to a professional nature.

Freo .. Well.. Who knows? Something will have to change!

I like Fremantle and if we can't win the flag this year, (of the realistic chances) I hope the Dockers win it. I think the game was played in good spirits last night and the crowd booing the Dockers off the field was pretty embarrassing, to be honest. They'd done nothing to deserve that.

I'm not trolling, it won't be long til some parent sues the AFL for their kid ending up in a wheelchair because they've tried to get a high free kick and have snapped their back. Mackie got to the ball first, had a chance to stand up, instead ducked looking for a free kick resulting in him getting a severe knock to the head. The only way to stop this is to stop giving players frees for it.

You can't keep the head sacrosanct if the head is being used to win free kicks.

Strange that if your concern is for player safety that you haven't mentioned Crozier ducking into a tackle in the final quarter and nearly getting his head ripped off. Umpires gave him a free kick which resulted in a goal.

Hope Geelong actually contest us with footy next time.
We were hoping that your mob would do that sometime before 3/4 time last night too. Instead they just went the play the man not the ball tactic (hence the free kicks), but somehow that tactic's OK but your perception of Geelong's 'milk the frees' tactic isn't? OK then

There are 3 days which together form my most treasured memories of AFL football.

The 1997 Grand Final
The 1998 Grand Final
The 2007 Grand Final

The Crows delivered me 97 and 98 and I love them for it.

Geelong delivered me 07 and I love them for it.

The Cats will forever have a special place in my footballing heart and nothing will ever take that away. :hearts::rainbow:

Thanks for your good grace in victory. Makes me wish I wouldn't get so riled up with Cats supporters rubbing our faces in it. Always good supporters out there from all clubs.

It happens with both teams. I dislike, I've started threads about Suban and Walters on the Freo board last year about it. Suban and Crozier ducked, so did Selwood, Johnson, Mackie, Christensen, Bartel. You see the difference?

Haha -maybe you should go back and read a few of your posts old thing.
