When a lift broke down in a CBD car park and an elderly couple couldn't climb the stairs to get to their car, Ballantyne went up, got his car, drove down and picked them up. He then drove them up to their car.

It's tall poppy stuff, every year for the past 4 seasons people have been waiting for Geelong to fall, i was a doubter this year myself, believing they were no better than a 6th or 7th best team. They are hanging around like a bad smell and footy fans don't like it, they want to see the slide.

It baffles me how posters judge particular players' character off the field when I'm sure 99% of them have never even met these players long enough to know what they're actually like as people.

Why are Geelong being disliked? Is it because they have been too good for so long? (Probably an unfair reason to dislike them) Or is it because they have appeared to have been getting an armchair ride by the umps/AFL for some time?

Probably all of this. Obviously when your team is out of the flag race people like to pick and underdogs or a long drought sufferer. But Geelong are neither anymore, but the most successful team in recent history. And people love to hate these. And surely a ridiculous good run with umpiring and afl decisions won't help....

People seems to be Freo sympathizers in this state, because they haven't won the flag at all and we have won three.
