Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

think we'll likely get Worpel as an FA and then find a fringe ruck like Reeves for a token pick to replace Stanley while our young rucks (Edwards & Conway) hopefully get their bodies sorted. Don't think either Curnow (straight up don't have the currency) or Marshall (worth more to the Saints than to us) will eventuate

I think many ruckmen will be getting brownlow votes against Geelong next year if nothing changes. 2 of Darcy Fort's top 3 hit out performances have come against Geelong in this years finals.

Surely some left field thinking is required? McInerney? Riley O'Brien? Ned Reeves etc?

Not mac body is cooked
Obrien signed.
No Reeves Scott hates dinosaurs.
Maybe someone like ladhams or someone's third string backup ruck if marshall can't be gotten.

Not Reeves hes not Scott's type of ruck but I agree with the general idea.

You still sure about that?

At this point last year, we would have been pencilling Toby Conway in to be our number 1 ruckman in 2025 and he didn't play a game due to injury. Mitch Edwards will be into year 3 next year. Picking up Marshall, to my mind would effectively be pulling the pin on Conway and Edwards as future ruckmen for Geelong.

Even with the long term unavailability of Conway, it wasn't until injuries hit that Stanley got a look in, firstly in Round 5 and then this week. We looked outstanding in the middle in the first weeks of finals with Blicavs and de Koning carrying the ruck.

It just seems odd to me that when everyone knows Chris Scott places an emphasis on positional flexibility, that we'd want to bring in Marshall, while carrying Stanley, Conway and Edwards as depth, when Blicavs and de Koning are still probably preferred as backups.

So I wouldn't be devastated if we went ahead with Marshall and I'm pretty sure we will. But there are pretty clear reasons why I'm not so keen on it, especially if an outstanding prospect like Greeves would apparently still be on the table at our pick.

We got hammered in the ruck on the weekend and I would argue Stanley did not make the most of his opportunity in last years preliminary final when Brisbane had no ruck. He has cost us opportunities in the big games and we are in desperate need of a quality ruck more so than St Kilda who are not in a premiership window.

Coming around to the idea of letting Marshall stay.

Brisbane entering a period where more flags beckon and ruck taps are negligible to success. Winning the hitouts statistical metric has a low correlation with winning football games.

Won't be disappointed if we trade for him but suspect we'll need a lot more to get to the top.

St Kilda posters claiming ITK think the demand would be 3 firsts (since they'll be late) or 1 first + Holmes. If that is anything that resembles what the Saints ask then he isn't worth that to us. As I said I'd rather go for a fringe ruck for a token pick and back Edwards or Conway to get their body right in the next couple of years

I don't think we're chasing Marshall for hit outs though. He's kind of a better version of Stanley.

I wouldn't take fans particularly seriously. You're looking at an emotional reaction to loss. Look at what media says. Our first plus a bit. Job done

He'd want to be for a R1 and possibly more at 30yo.

Just not seeing the point, BL will only get better. Pinching a flag would rely on someone knocking them out and they've just gone B2B the long way twice. With 2x MCG games each year.

Marshall and Worpel ain't getting it done in 2026. And by 2027 the devil sporn may be ready for premierships.

Well our options are to improve the list or not improve the list and i think we'll get more out of Marshall then a pick that traditionally lands you more Brandon Parfitts than Tim Kellys

Interested to see Ollie Greeves dropping down in the expert draft rankings somewhat and behind a few of his premiership teammates, into our first picked range (IF we keep it).

I'd love to get him if we're picking in that range.
Unfortunately I don't believe he's athletic enough. George Stevens / Josh Smilie big body bull mid type who will struggle with the athletic loads and speed requirement at senior level.

You could also look at him as being a similar frame to Josh Dunkley.

It's a bit early to be writing off a 20 year old (Stevens) and especially a 19 year old (Smillie) to my way of thinking.

What's the state of the salary cap over there these days? Who would you even be paying, other than Bailey Smith and maybe Jeremy Cameron (guessing his deal might've been shaped though)?

Plenty of cap but draft picks not great.

We are systemically rorting the salary cap and every player has a side gig with Cotton On or Morris Finance. Do you even BigFooty?

Call me old fashioned but as a supporter for many years, is it concerning that these costumes and accessories such as the painting of blue etc was organised prior to a grand final? Surely you just find a costume post it.. just puts the club in the spotlight unnecessarily post a traumatic belting in a grand final

It is every year. For every side

The media coverage of mad Mondays is like this for the grand final losers every year too though. This isn't particularly special
Totally agree. But we had to be careful considering media round Baz and others. Plus the performance on sat. Not referring to Cornes here as he’s a peanut

Does cincotta to geelong make too much sense? Geelong local, has a toughness about him, well liked at Carlton, pick up as a desisted free agent, plays multiple roles.

To me just screams geelong.

I just don't rate rucks. Least important position on the field.
