For confirmations sake.

Signed Sealed and Delivered:

Darren Milburn
Cameron Ling
James Kelly
Josh Hunt
Kane Tenace
Henry Playfair
David Johnson
Jared Rooke
Charlie Gardiner
Corey Enright
Steven King
Joel Corey
Paul Chapman

Negotiating:

Steve Johnson
James Bartel

Uncontracted:

Peter Riccardi
Brenton Sanderson

Cameron Thurley
Matthew Spencer

James Rahilly
Matthew McCarthy
David Haynes

From what I've picked up from various news reports. Anyone know of any others we can add to either category?

edit: updating as we go.

I believe the following players are uncontracted at seasons end:

James Rahilly
David Haynes
Matt McCarthy

Whether they have any choice in negotiating or not is another thing. :p

Players drafted in 2003 would be also out of contract if they signed a standard two year contract.

I'm pretty confident that the players Geelong want to keep will stay...

Other clubs will target Steve Johnson and Jimmy Bartel seeing as they're quality and they're only about 21. The guys like Corey and Chapman, other clubs will investigate but seeing as they have been at the club for an extended period they probably know that the boys aren't going anywhere.

So I reckon the 1st priority is Johnson and Bartel. Ricco and Sando isn't an issue as it's upto them at season's end or earlier to decide whether they want to continue next year.

The rest of the season will probably decide the futures of Haynes, McCarthy etc.

Excellent news.

I'm a bit worried about the long term aspect of the deal and also would be disappointed if Steven didn't take some form of a paycut, but either way i'm glad he's going to be with us for some time yet.

So how long is the King deal for?

All they're saying is "long term".

If it's anything more than two years i'd have expected him to make a huge monetary sacrifice for the security that a long term deal brings.

He should anyway, paying King any decent amount of money is rewarding mediocrity, I'd love to say 'if you want mediocrity go and barrack for Fremantle' but we seem unable to avoid it around here.

They couldn't possibly retain him as captain if they've forced him onto a significantly reduced wage.

.
have to get these guys signed they are probably the most important at the club.

you should be expecting huge competition for Steve Johnson now. If the big clubs finish on the bottom theyll offer him $450k a year which is about 150k over the odds. Itll be interesting to see what he does! Personally of the players youve got left I hope the tigers go for Johnson as well. Dont know what wed cough up...but hes a gun! Anyway Brian Cook should be congratulated on signing up the players he has already.

Thats a pretty good point, a lot of the guys we signed (Gardiner, DJ, Rooke, King) are nowhere near as important as the likes of Bartel Chappy Corey and Dog. I hope we dont lose one of them as a result of being too keen to sign all the others nice and early.

Losing one player that we would get something decent in return for would be better than losing a number of "squad players" and eroding our depth.

I am a big fan of sj - a huge fan in fact. but geez, do you honestly think clubs would be willing to fork out $450k a season for him?? I think not.

Depth becomes irrelevant when you lose good players. Good players win games, not having an extra 5-6 in the VFL who could possibly step up, Sunday showed that.

$450k a year...the price that near superstars would be getting paid after having a few consistently good years?

He's good Johnno, and I would love to see him actually play 2 whole seasons to see what he can do...but please...
