Geelong rorting the system

But you haven’t won shit aside from 1995, when you were paying players outside the cap hand over fist. And with Silvagni. Also under the original father son rule.
But we were cleared by the AFL of cheating that year.

Did you trust that internal investigation?

If so, then I am wondering what you think of the recent AFL audit of Geelong?

The salary cap is a guide, it can be as flexible as you want it to be if you get creative enough.

Did you get investigated?
Otherwise, fair point.
The Silvagni point stands though
This link details all known breaches:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFL_salary_cap#:~:text=Breaches,State

Carlton was found guilty in 94 but not 95. I assume they were investigated having won the flag, and because of their guilt in the preceding year.

They also, apparently did not take advantage of the amnesty which likely contributed to the massive penalty they incurred in the early 2000's

I would like to know what was admitted to by all the other clubs who did take advantage of the amnesty. I can't find any details about it.

No issues with you pointing out Silvagni as I have no issues with any of your father/sons, your draw, or any perceived or actual home ground advantage.

I've said it before, I would like to see an independent audit of all clubs, including my own.

He makes the types of comments that an obsessed, bitter moron would. People can connect the dots as to what he might actually be like after that.

You're probably aware Mr Meow: I rarely read or get caught up in these 'main board' threads as characters like AP: and his band of deluded souls or more to the point 'lost souls' just hijack them making a mockery of them, while forever trolling. Whatever rocks their boat but I'm starting to understand how you and a few other intelligent Geelong posters play their game and are amused by them, by replying with many funny jestful remarks...... that's the part I'm starting to like, so keep up with your witty replies which is sure to put a smile to my face all thanks to AP: and his band of 'lost souls' brigade.

Geelong would have needed 2 more losses to miss top 4. Which good teams would they have needed to play twice to make this happen? Collingwood, who they beat? Bulldogs, who they beat? GC, who they beat? Hawthorn, who they beat? Adelaide, who they beat? Or Fremantle, who they beat?
Well since you mentioned the dockers. I am glad they at least made finals. Better than last season's capitulation.

Dockers needed 16 wins just to make finals.

Who Freo beat in the top 8? Beaten Magpies away, suns away and GWS away.

We also beaten 9th placed dogs twice.

Yes a lot of teams get just lucky 17 out of 19 seasons
To be fair. Geelong has made finals 17 times put of 19 seasons. Only 2015 and 2023 they have missed out on finals.

But they made a lot of preliminary finals.

Just since 2011 alone under the cats current coach of Brad Scott, these are the following years cats made a prelim final at a minimum which is good......

  • 2011
  • 2013
  • 2016
  • 2017
  • 2019
  • 2020
  • 2021
  • 2022
  • 2024
  • 2025

2011 and 2022 ended up as flags. I will be brutally honest here, they could of turned some of those preliminary finals into not just a grand final appearance but also a flag too.

Specifically 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2024 those prelim finals should of been flag years.

2020 grand final they could of won too.

Port Adelaide fans have hurled abuse at Ken Hinkley. Port made prelim finals in 2014, 2020, 2021 and 2024. They also won 6 finals in 12 seasons.

Did Port Adelaide underachieved in Ken Hinkleys coaching era between 2013 to 2025? Maybe. But in an era of 18 teams and only 8 sides making finals every season, it's not a terrible record to look at.

My dockers have made finals 9 times in 31 years. They also made only 3 preliminary finals and only won 7 finals in 31 years.

The top 8 non-Geelong supporters in this thread really tells a story by itself:

Elixuh
Aristotle Pickett
Meteoric Rise
Penfolds Fan
Hairy O
RPCB
captain bloodsport

This is not the sort of list you want to end up on.
That's an interesting list of posters

Lame ass troll with a lame ass post.
Fair enough. No one is complaining about hawks or swans sustained finals success in the last 20 seasons they had.

Remarkably no one has complained about the sustained finals run that Ken Hinkley had at Port Adelaide from 2013 to 2025 except Port Adelaide fans

That’s a bit rough. I don’t believe I’ve trashed your club in this thread. :(

Lachie Neale got injured against the Cats on the weekend.

Obvious another Geelong rort with SHocking using his secret ninja stealth mind rays to target Lachie's leg....

Interesting observation
Marshall apparently wants to look into getting more money from Saints.
If not will consider to go to Geelong who are famous for underpaying players.
Especially ruckman according to their supporters.
How will they make that work 🤔

People have it backwards. Geelong aren't secretly overpaying their players, they are under paying them, practically slave labour.

New players get hypnotised and sign for massive unders. They are forced into humiliation rituals eg dressing as schoolgirls for Mad Monday, or letting Freo beat them at home.

When Bailey Smith complained he was living hand to mouth Andrew Dillon came around and force fed him a t shirt, told him he was a brand ambassador now.

Other players are so broke they are reduced to subsistence farming to feed their families.

Paddy Dangerfield cant even afford a wetsuit, has to go surfing in St Vinnies tier polyester "court appearance" suit.

Gruen Meers (sp?) and Glenn Close tried to make ends meet selling matches outside Geelong station but the Victorian Stereotypical Orphan Union said they were too skinny!

Apparently the money is being funnelled by a shell company "improving" Kardinia Park and ends up in the pockets of a shadowy cabal of Bigfooty posters. Allegedly it funds their lavish lifestyle posting fake controversies about how wealthy those poor Geelong players are.

What about priority picks? Does our AI overlord have a wall of shame for those clubs too?

Yeah I seem to read regularly from several Tigers fans who claim that their club never had any help from the AFL and that a ‘shit club’ like the eagles who got themselves into a predicament shouldn’t get any assistance.

But the Tigers weren’t a shit club and just traded some magic beans unrelated to football that got them a draft pick - mysteriously labelled a ‘priority pick’ - which they used to get Alex Rance?

But HANG ON…. I thought they dragged themselves up from the bottom without any help.

But on the other hand they tell us ad nauseum that Glass, Scarlett, Silvagni, McGovern - all of these fullbacks pale in comparison to Alex Rance.

I would think that such a good player has played SOME role in them becoming a powerful team.

But he’s listed as a ‘priority selection.’

What am I missing here? Did Richmond get help or not?

This seems a rort for a club that doesn’t need help compared to a ‘shit club’ like the Eagles….

Never mind, a quick google search took me right back to our humble BigFooty.com community!

As of 2010 it was apparently just North Melbourne and Geelong never to receive one. I know North got something recently, but we certainly haven't. Guess that makes us special and handout free! :gift:

Yeah but paying 3x first round draft picks for free agents such as Cameron and Dangerfield is a little bit like receiving a priority pick for tanking. If you really think hard about it.

And didn't we trade for Dangerfield when we didn't have to?

I really am starting to think there is no "there there" with this whole thread.

... just a well-run club that managed to leap the have/have not gap.

So we’ve got:

- Richmond getting Lynch for nothing

- Richmond receiving not one, but TWO priority picks: Brett Deledio, who a) helped them return to the finals, and b) was then traded to GWS which was turned into the trade for Josh Caddy who played a key role in the Tigers flags.

- The second priority pick of Alex Rance helping helping win flags - which came only a year after the Tigers finished 9th with 11-11 record. Oh yeah they really needed that.

- obvious tanking

- ex-player going to AFL rules committee back to running his club

- rarely leaving the MCG

- getting the equivalent for Shai Bolton that was given for Gary Ablett Jr: extortion, essentially

Is it too late to change the thread title?
