Biggest fluff cuddle piece you will ever see. FFS Lyon got Danger a Ford for doing nothing.Wouldn't even bother listening to it.
The media and AFL are just doing this in plain sight knowing there is no avenue for anybody to do anything about it

Notwithstanding even if the AirBnB freebies were only valued at $5,000 for the year - on paper it is not significant to get a player to sign.. But the intangible aspect, the repeated breaks, the ability to bring all ya family and friends down for a break etc. And this is just the smallest element of it. Maybe it adds up to half a million over a season, and maybe that is enough to retain a player or two.... Its not the old Carlton greg williams here is $150k cash from a builder, its smarter, more subtle and goes to the intangibles and the mental aspect of satsfying players AND THEIR FAMILIES to move to Bellarine
I agree with what you're saying... But as a St Kilda fan I wouldn't be throwing too many stones, glasshouses and all. Your guys are getting "a lot of players in" recently, you think it's all above board?
what was the outcome if the investigation into Hawthorn's systemic racial abuse towards first nations players, including attempting to force a players girlfriend to have an abortion?Fascinating how quickly “systematic governance failure” gets rebranded as “vintage Shiraz and bonding retreats” once the club in question wears blue and white hoops.
Let’s isolate the actual breach:
➤ Multiple arrangements involving club associates and third parties
➤ Non-disclosure or delayed disclosure across six seasons
➤ AFL sanctioned Geelong for violating the reporting protocols that safeguard the salary cap
That’s not... NOTHING... IT'S a documented breakdown in mandatory integrity compliance.
And the AFL’s own audit partner (EY) didn’t exonerate.. it confirmed the breach category, then soft-wrapped it under governance lingo.
Geelong still benefit.
No list impact.
No pick loss.
No historical revocation.
No real consequence.
Just “educational strengthening” and a $40k “don’t do it again” clause.
If this were Essendon, Adelaide, or Carlton we’d be reading about systemic deception.
But it’s Geelong, so it’s a picnic on the Bellarine Peninsula.

I like that you've been presented with the facts obtained from a third party source (EY) and you still don't believe it could be true. A great example of practiced denialism
The Blues drought would be 38 years without a cover upGeelong supporters can’t even do a good job of saying the AFL would never cover something up.
Chris Scott already gets that and more from Morris Finance, a major sponsor of the club, for a "leadership role" where let's be honest, he'd do **** all and take home a juicy paycheck. Would mean that he'd take unders to be the Geelong coach and leave greater room in their soft cap.Notwithstanding even if the AirBnB freebies were only valued at $5,000 for the year - on paper it is not significant to get a player to sign.. so you think the rort is that Geelong also controls the multinational Big 4 accounting firm Ernst & Young?![]()
"An example would be that an associate, a sponsor of the club, a individual in that group or business has access to a holiday house or a farm and a player or staff member goes and stays there for one, two, three nights.
"That is seen as a breach of the soft cap policy because there is a value attached to that.
"All that has to happen is the player or staff member has to declare that at the end of the year. You need to declare where you have been but there is grey area.

It didn't happen. But like the bible don't let the truth interrupt a good story.I know what will stop other clubs. They won't have the person who oversaw the cheating investigate the cheating.
Amazing that this can happen but here we are
which former employee was that again?

Geelong issued with monster fine over multiple payment breaches
An extensive audit from the AFL over a six-year period has found a series of serious infringements.7news.com.au
"The AFL said its GM of clubs — finance, performance and growth, and former Cats employee, Simon Kelleher, had no involvement in the investigation."
It would be.
They've had no good players to pay for a good decade.
That's a lot of front loading.
Yeah, I think some people are reading “assisted by EY” as if it meant an independent or third-party investigation, when in reality, it probably wasn’t that at all.I would love to see the scope of their "enquiries" before I take the AFL on its word. I live this life and have done so for decades. It all comes down to the Scope of Work, parameters and "how deep" one is allowed to investigate.
The day I trust the AFL in running a clean competition is the day I stop breathing. Every action they take, everything they do is SPIN of the highest order. 100% brand management.
It's highly offensive because they take ALL of US as idiots!

Pretty despicable stuff by Geelong it must be said.
The oversights by Geelong rightfully incurred a penalty and headline news. Of course we'd prefer it never happened But the hysteria in this thread is completely disproportionate to the "actual crimes", i.e., a failure to declare or declare in a timely manner third party benefits. There was no salary cap rorting. So of course I will defend my club against baseless allegations on this Board that are unproven and unsubstantiated.Actually most clubs do it, probably not the extent of Geelong but they still do it. What's most despicable is Geelong fans coming here to defend it.
Hock showing this morning what a nothing burger this all is. Staff staying on a farm for a night. The paperwork with the woman's car was acknowledged right from the start. That was the initial breaking news. It turns out a few laptops and mobiles in the men's team were the big discovery to add onto that.
The early pages of this thread seemed to suggest systematic salary cap breaches and TPP cheats were about to be unravelled. Instead we got the equivalent of a teacher letting a kid take a pen home from school without making a note of it.
As someone who moved to Geelong, someone from within the council needs to ask him to **** off back to SA.Dude, you're using a false equivalence and crying that the punishments don't mirror one another.![]()
You aren't exactly setting the world on fire atm. Nothing but utter garbage on this topic the last 24 hours.Geelong supporters can’t even do a good job of saying the AFL would never cover something up.

You genuinely should be ashamed of what you've posted the last 24 hours. Nothing but utter garbage.
So is the prize money for mark and goal of the year and various other awards also salary cap corruption? Or only when geelong players win them?Biggest fluff cuddle piece you will ever see. FFS Lyon got Danger a Ford for doing nothing.

oh, well then. If the AFL say, without evidence, that their GM of Clubs — Finance, Performance and Growth (i.e. the Department in charge of audits) had no input; and instead it was entirely led by the GM of Clubs - Scheduling (i.e. the department that has nothing to do with audits), then I guess that's that. Case closed. Nothing to see hereIt didn't happen. But like the bible don't let the truth interrupt a good story.
No different to what you nuffies are waffling on with, without evidence since yesterday.oh, well then. I find it offensive how little attention you pay to what you post on the matter. Trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.If I was one of your supporters, I would have posted a whataboutism.
Edit: **** sake! Keep your original post as is. Trust me when I say your opinion of me means very little and I find it more offensive that you’d changed the wording in your post thinking your original words would bother me.
