I'd suggest Geelong have used more late picks too though. Probably because they've been good for so long. which can also be tied in to their father/son success.

whats Geelongs success got to do with Tenace though. Its not like he couldn't have succeeded at another club. I know he had his injuries but it was a failed pick. His skills weren't upto it.

I think Wells is standard. some great picks, some bad picks. I've never understood the hype. I think if Geelong used more early picks then they'd be using less later picks to hit on. The Stewart and Dempsey picks were great though.

Having to pay what was a fair price for Gary Ablett in 2001 - he was expected to go around 20 at best. The one we might have missed out on that gets bumped back in the order would be Steve Johnson or James Kelly depending on whether someone wanted to take a chance on his knees. Lucky for us the pick right after Ablett’s protected selection at 40 was also ours anyway.

Yeah you can argue Selwood. Good as he was I’m not sure he explains away a team being that much better than everyone else and Tom Hawkins not playing at all.

It's like you don't even have the ability to address your own team and evaluate your luck with the father/son and the success that the rule gave you without having to start talking about the other persons team'. You realise there is no relevance right.

Having to use caps lock to scream your message across. Clearly you know it's true. The reality is, if most of the teams had Geelong's father/sons they would've had the same or more success. 'but but Wells is so good'. Yeah, when you have Hawkins, Scarlett and Ablett and you get to focus on filling in around them, that's quite a luxury.

And you don't even know what the term gift means. Our success came from building through the draft. Our flag came from finishing low and picking Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw etc. We didn't get given then for free from the afl. Quite the opposite, we had to be down the bottom of the ladder to get them. So literally the opposite to a gift.
