To be fair I dont listen to Don Scott because Im not a fan of scarves. I opened the article, saw it was from years ago and Don Scott making claims about things from history and stopped reading.

Did anyone bother to investigate his claims or does no-one else care about scarves either?

Jealousy - the fact Geelong has only missed finals twice since 2007 and in that time had one top 10 draft pick. Sure, we benefited from father son selection, a rule open to all clubs and one benefiting the current Collingwood team big time.

Let’s unpack the rest of your post. Geelong gets home games in Geelong. That is the biggest rort, NOT. Do I hear you complaining about Sydney, GWS, Suns, and Brisbane playing home games on their home ground? No, but the fact Geelong plays in Geelong is seen as a rort.

So far the only allegation of wrongdoing that we have heard about was to do with access to a car by an AFLW player from Geelong.

Why is Geelong singled out? Apart from jealousy because Geelong is seen as a destination club (a recent phenomenon), jealousy because the club enjoys stability and is managed well from top to bottom, and jealousy because Chris Scott keeps reinventing the team, much of the crap we read about comes from certain posters whose team has come and gone, even after the CEO declared he wanted nothing more than his team to be like Geelong - always challenging.

Fair enough. If the results of all clubs confessing their collective sins were made public, then we can assess.

In answer to your last question, I am probably thinking no-one investigated and probably most people don't care.

I speak for everyone when I say we are envious of Geelong. A small regional club happens to be the most winningest club with the equal most premierships this century. It's just unreal how they keep fronting up year after year, and we are sick with jealousy.

As far back as I can remember (which is about 1981) right up until 2006 Geelong was mocked as a backwater sh*thole that noone would want to play for.

We were handbaggers, we were soft, we were a joke.

It's amazing how in 18 years the narrative can flip and suddenly we have an unfair advantage because we are based out of a backwater sh*thole.

It was only 4 years ago we were being laughed at as being too old and perennial chokers.

imagine taking shots at a club because they have 8-9 home games when you support a team that is scheduled to play 17 of 23 games at their home ground, has the least amount of travel and a guaranteed home ground grand final every single year

1. How is playing Home games at a Home ground a “walk up start to Finals”
If that was the case wouldn’t the entire Final 8 be filled with non Vic teams who play 11/12 games at Home?

2. It’s the only club YOU are focusing on. You can’t seriously tell me you look at Brisbane and look at Geelong and think the team filled with rookie draft and non first rounders is cheating while the team who has lost 1 well paid player in 5 years and is about to offer huge money to 2 more good players isn’t….like come on dude use your head.

I'd suggest both allegations should be audited independently to ascertain the actual truth, and not the massaged one we're undoubtedly getting right now.

And just for the record, I do wish my club was run as well as yours. It's not really jealousy or envy, though I guess they might be appropriate synonyms for my thoughts on the Cats. But for me, it's more an admiration for getting yourselves into that situation. It's a credit to the whole club.

In the AFL-o-sphere, I would definitely lean towards there more than we're being told.

At least three books have been written by Scott Gullan, not to mention books by Tom Harley, Joel Selwood, Tom Hawkins, and Gary Ablett Junior, about how Geelong got there. No secret. And credit went to Brian Cook, Frank Costa, Bomber Thompson and of course the players. The first Gullan book written following the 2007 premiership discusses in great detail how transformative the review of the players and coach was in 2006.

The best Caro could come up with in her "bombshell" expose was the AFLW car use claim which, last I heard, was with the AFL.

Carlton really wanted John Platten. They gave him a car. He decided to go with Hawthorn who I assume offered a sign on cash bonus, and he kept the car.

This would have been commonplace. Its why the AFL had the amnesty.

Why are teams banned from using it as a home ground? First I’ve heard of it. Fremantle trained there this year. If you can hire it to train what’s stopping clubs from playing games there
