He said that before the "monster" penalty (as Mitch Cleary labelled it) was revealed and he was alluding to media interest, not the AFL audit. Good try.

ran out of cheap farmsSo one of the conditions being AFL to keep a close eye on Geelong’s books from now on with extra reporting. Explains why the suddenly dropped out of the Curnow race.
Piss taking aside i think public perception will hurt Geelong more than the actual penalty.
People look to them as a standard of professionalism in the AFL along with the negative reactions of Bailey Smith/Mad Monday its not been a good year for them.
If you miss the cover up it’s a pretty big errorOh should we sack the girl who does the admin who missed.
May I just correct "the same thing" to
(1) SALARY CAP BREACH
(2) TAMPERING WITH THE FRICKING DRAFT
(3) CLUB AND CEO PLEADED GUILTY TO REDUCE THE PENALTY
Your club/brand should have been deregistered.
That’s a weird thing to post in a thread about Geelong but I get it may be hard for people to process their feelings when they throw a tantrum![]()
A BYOBeef BBQFeels good to be so clean. The club should all celebrate the findings with a huge gathering at the Cameron/Stanley/Hawkins farm. Or Baz's acreage.

Stokesy ?Public perception. Nah nothing sticks.
Over the years:
- rape allegations (before most BF posters time I imagine)
- Dank association before he became famous through Essendon
- Tyson S overdose
- Coach payments through Morris
- Coach makes journo cry (or was it staffer?)
- Bailey Smith bulltish with the journo and other actions that led to the CEO of the AFL to meet with him
- “Administrative/ Book Keeping” errors (we’re being played for fools on this one)
I’m sure I’ve missed a few things.
Any one of those affect their public perception?? Not one iota!!
When you have geelong/ Collingwood running the afl... this is what you get. 2 tier competition.
Tippetgate was 200 thousand dollars over the salary cap.
Geelong was found to not breach the salary cap.
Do you get the difference? One club did not cheat the salary cap while the other club did cheat.
Geelong instead at three-quarter time subbed out Rhys Stanley for tactical purposes after Brisbane began to push away. And speaking after the match, Scott said the uncertainty around the severity of Cameron's injury made a call on the sub, which is expected to be removed for 2026, particularly challenging to manageYou done crying yet?
Chris Scott whinging about the sub rule after continuing to play a bloke with a broken arm was peak Geelong.
Whinge whinge whinge without ever looking in the mirror.
I bet it won't even come out of the soft cap like they did with us each time Hinkley went loco.77k half suspended for rorting the system is an absolute bargain isn't it ? If anything it is incentives it further as the cost of doing dodgy business is so low
It wouldn't matter if it did, we have so much soft cap space with most of Scotty's pay coming from his extracurricular jobs. I think he's only listed as a part-timer with Geelong FC.I bet it won't even come out of the soft cap like they did with us each time Hinkley went loco.

No one mentioning that Geelong also got done for cheating salary cap 2012-2020?

So they’ve been cheating the cap since 2012 through 2019 and then 2019 through 2024?
“We made an inadvertent administrative error in our TPP related reporting that has been repeated over eight years,” Cats chief financial officer Simon Kelleher said.
“As soon as we discovered this error, we advised the AFL. The AFL investigated the matter and have passed down the sanction. We accept the penalty and have thoroughly reviewed our processes to ensure full compliance going forward.” - March 5, 2020
Geelong’s books must be quite complex if it took 6 years to conduct an audit. Hmmm.
