Review Geelong tries its best to lose and finds a way to stagger to a 4 point win over Demons

If that kick had of gone through we would have lost. This was the definition of an ugly win. Two hours of circle work was an atrocious spectacle to watch. The mediocrity loving supporters will be ebullient with that win. The more switched on will know this side is no longer in contention for a flag. The Cats were shit out there today, we were just lucky the Dee's were a fraction shittier. Based on current form, I don't think we'll even make the top 8 this year.

I'll happily take win especially going to work tomorrow with a demons fan.
Guthrie fantastic, glad to see Steven at least do something and Hawk get some form back.
Mids had a good spreas and happy how Fort did against Gawn.
Sav did some nice things too so hope he's building.
Wow got away with that in the end and somehow we'll be 6th this round with a tough 4 weeks to come
Props for the glass half full.

Fort was OK in the ruck contests but thoroughly beaten. Around the ground, apart from the mark and goal he was horrendous. No presence whatsoever and lack of presence cost at least the Fritch goal.

Should have won last week, should have lost today. Swings/roundabouts.

One thing is clear: we are doing no damage in 2020.
Bang on. Middle of the road team, at best, depending on whether a few other sides are keen to stay at this (terrible) level.

Of the past two weeks we just about did enough to earn one win, so I refuse to have a tantrum over the performance. Until the last 5 minutes or so, they played dour and low confidence football, yet the effort and will was much improved from last week. The ending wasn't too unexpected, as this collection of players have basically always lacked effective ball movement under pressure and composure in the big moments.

I'll always hope my team win (even when favourable draft picks are an alternative reward) and take an undeserved win over a spirited undeserved loss. The football under Scott has been ugly for years, it's just that now our quality has gone even further down. Get used to it, folks. This is the new normal.

In 10 years with Scott at the helm we have gone from fearless to fearful. Must watch to can't watch. Ruthless to gutless. Shameless to shameful. Congratulations Brian and Chris, I'll supply the fork.

I will always fight for the Cats but I cannot defend pissweak mediocracy.

O'conner was good tonight. Must have just had a brain snap.
I dont know if we were trying to play calm controlled footy, or it was like they were depressed or something.
Steven out for Constable
Stewart out for Clark
Sav out for Kreuger
Henry out for DeKoning
Ablett out for Evans

Right or wrong we really gotta see some new blood and fire.

Two things can be true at once:

Thing 1: The brand of footy we played today was dire, unattractive, and won't stand up in finals.

Thing 2: Today was a tactical win for Chris Scott. He set up to negate Melbourne and it worked. Someone in the matchday thread said "we have no way to defend against quick plays", which made me laugh, because if anything defending against quick plays is the one and only thing we're doing at a high level at the moment. Our whole game plan today was built around it. I'm not saying I like that of course.

Anyway, something needs to change because we ain't a good team at the moment.

Even if we won by 10 goals this was a terrible performance as a cats fan.

The spirit of the club is dead. We are not geelong anymore. We are more like a malthouse or ross lyon team.
Song definitely needs to be changed if Scott is going to continue to coach. That is as far as away from the way the game should be played as you can get.

And it's not as if you can use the argument that it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you win. We barely scraped over Melbourne. A mediocre team playing a shit game plan is not great to watch or something that gives you any hope for success.

Well, sh*t 😕

Observations...

Ablett's contested work and ability to keep his feet is nothing short of phenomenal
Number 2 umpire is up there with Stevic and Nicholls for worst in the AFL
Rohan is not a footballer
Steven needs a month in the reserves
O'Connor is not to blame for that shite at the end. That's a result of him doing the chippy chippy he's instructed to do by an inept coach
Guthrie probably bog
Tuohy offers nothing to this team
Bayley Fritsch has an enormously punchable head
Oliver tied with Sicily for biggest flog in the AFL
Jack Henry is a very good footballer
This gameplan will not win the VFL premiership, let alone AFL

Edit: Forget to mention. Best thing about this game was no Dwayne Russell. Absolutely fantastic not having to listen to it.
