Geelong's new branding

Although I quite like the logos, I still haven't heard any reasonable explanation as to why there are TWO OF THEM??

Surely this just confuses the issue, given that a logo is meant to be a SINGLE uniting image the represents everything!! (....to the club and outsiders).

It's like the club has multiple personality disorder. /.

Makes no sense.

<--- The logo with the cat face has really grown on me. I'm planning on buying a clash guernsey that features it across the chest. I bought a cap with it from Gold Coast and I like it way better than the ones that were in the Cats Shop. Don't like the side on cat logo much. I say drop it and just use the other one.

Saw one of these yesterday for the first time - very nice, I would have bought it but $100 is a bit stiff given I already have a jumper... maybe I'll get a long sleeved one.

I haven't seen the vids yet - as usual bigpond doesn't seem to work for me too well.

Quite like the new logos but don't like the rebranding as the Geelong Cats and definitely don't like this corporate bullshit. 'Precision'? 'Footy Full On'? One thing to reinvigorate the club, another to make us look like we're full of advertising w***ers.

The new logo gives opportunity to return back to a better one for merchandising next year.

The other thing I hate is the term "re-branding".

Maybe I live in an idealistic world, but we are a Football Club not a ****ing brand. It's very much like a franchise. Colgate, Smiths, CUB are brands that can re-brand. We are a Football Club with over 149 years of tradition, not a brand that can simply be changed when a new pimply faced marketing geek completes his Uni degree and gets a job at the club!

That thing that completely annoys me is that us members weren't even consulted. Given we own the club I would have thought we should have a say in what our logo should look like. Instead some marketing "guru" designed the logo, someone with no connection to the club and no idea of the history and importance of the club to so many people.

It'll take me a long time to accept these logos. They mean nothing to me. It might be the logo of my Football Club, but for me they don't represent my Football Club and I will continue to honour the GFC Shield.

yeah, agree - i think if it aint broke, (see "new" coke), then why change it but this guernsey really jumped out at me and i found it quite striking - which i haven't felt towards previous clashies.

yup, its got a lil of the cringe-worthy corporate mission statement about it.
