Anyone know why he stepped down? Seems pretty sudden.
Board was pushing him out. Apparently his behaviour after the Port loss last year really touched a nerve.

ah yes I do remember that nowI remember he went to the media saying the loss was unacceptable, not Melbourne, don't give guernseys out in Weet-Bix boxes etc.
she has made some very ordinary decisions out at Wyndham council, so I'll reserve judgment for the time beingSounds like it’ll be Kate Roffey.
Great pick in terms of knowing how to work with Vic Govt to get the training base.
Hadn't realised that she was a council worker... if you can call them workers. That worries me.she has made some very ordinary decisions out at Wyndham council, so I'll reserve judgment for the time being
Also there is a pretty good chance she will be named Wyndham CEO in the next month or so
That seems like a long time ago. This seems more sudden, especially seeing as he was due to leave at the end of the season anyway.Board was pushing him out. Apparently his behaviour after the Port loss last year really touched a nerve.
I didn't either until my saw she was her new president and said she has worked on projects with herHadn't realised that she was a council worker... if you can call them workers. That worries me.
It's all speculation at the moment so as fun as it is, premature to go off at Goody, etc yet. Does seem a bit fishy though with how sudden it is.Who are the people that it rubbed the wrong way? Don't tell me Goodwin got another person removed that he didn't get along with. Anyone would think he's a 5 time premiership coach the way we carter to his fragile ego.
Could also mean the club doesn't leak. It's all speculation at the moment so as fun as it is, premature to go off at Goody, etc yet. Does seem a bit fishy though with how sudden it is.

So by the sounds of it, he was alienated by the club and board and the board pushed him out, I'm fine with that, we don't know any of the inner machinations so can't really speculate. Good to see we have our first female president, very proud moment for the club, she looks very well accomplished and looking forward to the future.![]()
Dees to have first female president as Bartlett pushed
Melbourne is set to appoint the first female president in the club’s 163-year history, with Kate Roffey taking over from the outgoing Glen Bartlett.www.theage.com.au
This is the article that details it.

old mate blaming Goodwin far out, how bizarre. Having the best facilities and most investment into the AFLW would be massive, to be pioneers in women's sport would be something to be really proud of. I like the way the club is headed with its efforts to emphasise diversity and inclusiveness, can only be positive.Jeez I love some good speculationold mate blaming Goodwin far out, how bizarre.
Bartlett is a part of the old school problem that's plagued the dees for eternity.
Internally, the club wants to build their inclusiveness, equality and the like. Bartlett married his secretary who is substantially younger than him, for example. Now that doesn't exactly stack up when the board wants to grow equality and all that jazz. It also comes after the heat of the pre season launch where he and others spoke, held at a club that refuse to allow women memberships. Again, not a big issue in isolation but these add up.
There's not disharmony per se, but key stakeholders were not seeing him as a leader for all with regards to what the club (and where the club) want to be.
Also, look forward to some talk on home base with state of the art women's facilities etc being the cornerstone later this year.

Okay this would be a wretched outcome
