Posted this before the season. Gotta say that Spargo and Fritsch have really cemented their spots in my view and become proper AFL footballers. Not saying either are the finished product, but they're both bringing lots to the table at the moment.
I am absolutely pumped for Spargo. He's a creative, smart player with very tidy skills. But after a lean 2019, and average 2020 he was looking as the next fan whipping boy.

He gets to the right spots so often, I reckon he's going to have a game where he just kicks 5 himself soon

Surprised with the coaches votes.

Pickett and McDonald in there (for what it's worth I thought Macca had a fantastic first half) but no Fritsch. Lever only 2 votes too.

Thought Lever had a better game than Langdon, although I was at the ground and Langdon was on the far wing.

Loved Langdon's game, kicked an important goal but he butchered it a bit early. I thought Viney's game deserved a vote and I would have had Fritsch in the votes too.

Coaches have a better view of the game than I do though

I don't usually notice Langdon but did yesterday, maybe it was because I said other day in the round 3 learnings thread that it annoys me that I don't. So perhaps I made an unintentional concerted to do so. The mind loves playing funny buggers like that.

Garry Lyon pumped him up for his game OTC at the end then, and a lot of other people have him votes on our board this week too though

That does seem strange, gotta be something we don't know about. Like maybe Pickett's GPS showed him doing a truckload of defensive work, Tmac a bit harder to fathom, maybe Scott thought Tomlinson was Tmac as well aye Gysberts2Bate

Best ever defensive record inside 50 recorded after 4 rounds according to on the couch - as in oppo score 30.6% of the time they go inside F50. Pretty crazy considering that was a huge weakness of ours for a long time. Also 3rd best F50 pressure rating since 2013.
Tmac and Jackson a huge part of it. The talls work hard at ground level. Brown could def offset that.

Now I'm slightly worried that Brown and Weid throw off our forward pressure. Unless we boot Brayshaw to the back flank and Tmac to the wing and then Brown for Tmac and Weid for Melk
I quite like that idea, gives us a forward line of
Fritsch Brown ANB
Kozzie Weed Jackson (Spargo).
That's still plenty of forward pressure, plus, you don't need forward pressure if you just mark the ball inside 50 every time

Am I alone in thinking TMac is having squib efforts painted over by us winning? I really am not liking him in f50 at all. On the wing does a few good things, but I just don't think he hits the pack hard enough to get the ball to ground. Got pushed off the line by his man way too often

Nah I was at the game and watched him a lot. He worked his ass off and was very good especially in the first half

having said that I still think he will be in trouble when Brown is fit

I don't. I'm almost certain he will rotate through the wing and forward when Brown comes in.

McDonald definitely won’t be in the ones IMO. His form does mean Weideman can afford to be brought back slowly, so he can find touch at Casey

The problem with him on the wing is do we lose speed with him playing there? and do we really need another marking option with the way the team is playing?

I'm fine with him to be given first crack at it, I just don't know if it will be a permanent thing

McDonald is way faster than Gus

Yeah what Bluelegs said, he's faster than Gus anyway which is the side I think he will rotate through. When I say marking options I mean on a quick turnover he can use his tank to get forward and help with a mismatch and he can also drift back and make it hard for the opposition.

Can you imagine the poor Oppo wingers having to chase Mcdonald and Langdon up and back. They'll be ****ed.
