Awesome weekend in Warrnambool for the Classic, 107 cars in the end, perfect weather, in form gun James McFadden won his maiden classic title, followed home by Darren Mollenoyux and Brooke Tatnell.
Really quality field with 10 or so Yanks - Brad Sweet being the best of them.
Mount Gambier got rained out 2 laps into the A Main, but still got some good racing in.
For anyone unfamiliar with Sprintcars they put out around 950hp and only weigh 625kgs.

Where has his career gone, at one stage he was rated alongside Miller.

I went to Sandown for a state round today. The Hyundai Excels had 49 entries! They had to split them up in two groups. You only every see that when a class has it's Nationals on.
How did they work the groups out ??

Raced some speedway but generally was perpetually injured.

He was never the same when he got caught in the middle of the intra team feud between Sandro Cortese and Luis Salom at KTM. He seemed to be the quiet kid in the middle of two fast racers with big egos and cheque books and was just more or less forgotten by the team. Got relegated to Mahindra the following year and was dropped mid season.

For kicks I'm going back and looking through old F1 seasons on Wiki. It's equal parts intriguing and depressing.
Not sure where to put this but this looks the place.

Dropped into the library today and spotted a book. As you do. Had a 50s Ferarri on the cover. Picked it up. The Limit by Michael Cannell. The book covers the 1961 championship and the race between Hill and Von Trips for the title. It covers both drivers lives , with a focus towards how they drifted into racing.

So far so good.

Some quotes.

'' In Morte Vita ( In Death there is Life) '' Von Trips Motto

' This was a duel in the sun and the pace was too hot to last'

' They were acutely aware that half of them wouldn't survive the seasons. The odds were grimmer than their elder brothers had faced in the war'

Legend. R.I.P. :(

The only man to have done what he did, magnificent.

RIP John Surtees.

I see the V8 supercars are wanting the new contract to make the F1 gp a championship round, as I'm not an avid v8 follower... What's stopping then now? Is it the shorter races & lack of track time?
Not sure what's ever stopped them really, but if they're there they may as well have for points
